Author Vince Poscente, The Earthquake, shares at an Australian online personal development book club
Have you ever had a favourite author and walked away loving his work more because of his genuine and congruent nature?
Meet Vince Poscente; wonderful human being, husband, Dad, and whom is also a gold medalist Olympian, New York Times Best Selling Author, Motivational coach and Hall of Fame speaker in two countries.
In this background chat about his latest book, The Earthquake, Vince discusses his own need for a feedback loop from his readers. My feedback is that his interactions, his mannerisms and his deep listening skills to all the book club participants, confirmed for me that anything Vince writes stays the top of my favourite pile because he cares about his readers and wants to ensure they know a life buoy is available.
An incredibly useful book for building post traumatic growth, and, resilience BEFORE personal disaster, this little road map clearly articulates the dance of recovery - one step in, two steps sideways and sometimes fifteen in the wrong direction before changing course.
Just as there are no linear stages of grief, so too are there no linear steps to recovery from personal set backs. But, the lure to keep you in the dance of empowerment is an easy to remember logo of change: the sweet smell and shape of a frangipani flower to keep you going as you traverse it's five petals of hope (the 5 petal steps of recovery are Contradiction, Alignment, Curious, Creative, Action).
Not written for children but totally appropriate for adolescents, this is a book that anyone can pick up to read either as a story or a personal development tool.
This is bibliotherapy: the use of the written word to help solve a problem and is required reading for those hurting from a metaphorical earthquake and those helping them.
Join our online personal development book club. We meet monthly by zoom. Next book club open to non members is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Look for the event on the Coach.Bayliss facebook page coach.bayliss
