I can say as someone born in 82 a lot of gen x stuff carried over into the 90’s as well. Everything gen x did, us early millennials did as well.

Gen X is the best. We're fine being left out. When we got hurt, we walked it off. We are the most versatile, when it comes to the evolution of technology. We are fine being with someone, or by ourselves. We show up for work, do the job, and go home. We work hard, and we play hard. Baby Boomers don't understand it, and millennials and Genz won't ever catch up. I weep for the future.

The determination of Generation seems a bit arbitrary. I was born in 1963 and by the applied definitions am a Baby Boomer. However my life experiences are those of Gen X.

Gen X, we got the privilege to over consume like no one ever has done before, and feeling completely normal about and entitled to it. We're doing a great job ruining this planet faster than anyone has even come close to before. I'm happy I'm dead in about 30ish years from now (at best). Luckily no kids, the next 50-100 years will be very tough.

The term “latchkey” kid was not from gen X. It’s an old, old saying from the English industrial times. It got brushed off by some pop journalists (who love to use generations to make up silly divisions) and now thanks to the internet purging anything older than 20 years from the internet, it’s being though of as a thing invented to describe Gen X.

Some one said generation x didn’t go out to play, they went out to die. Life was so real in the streets for generation x. I don’t care what anybody says. I used to walk home 8 blocks from school in the late 70s. This dude tried to get me in his car one day. I was seven years old!

I was born in 1971. My dad was killed in a car crash in 1974 after my mum left him. My mum and stepdad ran their own business and so I spent a lot of time by myself. My mum consistently ignored me in favour of my stepbrother who was 8 years older than me and “cooler”. I won’t tell you what he did to me over a number of years, suffice to say I lost the Court case. I am most happy in my own company with my cats and would just like to be left alone. I surround myself with geeky possessions to distract myself from the real world.

Nobody watched us, we threw rocks off bridges at cars for fun, drank, smoked did drugs, had affectionate racial slurs for our friends for fun, and there's no pictures or videos of us online until 2007. We don't care in the same way sharks don't.
