Where did you get the parts and numbers
@@philliphall5198 there are a number of sites that have parts diagrams, ereplacements is one I use a lot. They have good prices and reasonable shipping.
Better off using a drill to start it
Or maybe not using it now 😢
Muffler screen stoped up
@@L0WRYDER exactly 😊
Had this problem before. Usually mud dobbers filling up the exhaust holes.
@@ronalddumey9451 yep, that would do it. I had a friend one time that had this problem with a motorcycle. Turns out his child filled the exhaust with dry dog food, lol.
Filter should of went on the smaller diameter line and wider diameter line is the return line. With the retainer white piece on the end.
Easy to plug with debris, easy to clean. A lot like the old tecumseh carbs with the hole in the bowl bolt.
@@ronalddumey9451 Right. The hardest part on that one was getting the bowl off of the carb.
This is the first time I've seen this explained. Very clear and easy to follow. Well done sir.
I have changed the vent on my echo several times and it still does not work. Why is my vent working?
@@randallcorbello2857 why do you think the vent is not working?
If you think you have a vent problem you can try running it with the gas cap loose. If it runs okay with the cap loose you are on the right track.
Thank you. I’m glad you liked the video.
Customer should be happy. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching!
The thumbnail is not the best but the explanation is good.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m still learning the graphics part of doing videos. Maybe it’s time for me to research thumbnails :-).
I changed the thumbnail, let me know if that is any better
Will be doing this on my Murray trimmer tomorrow...
Best of luck to you, I’m sure you will get it going again.
Good ❤❤❤🎉🎉
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.
Just wondered if you smoothed out some of the damage to the cylinder head. My concern would be sharp edges causing hot spots and preignition.
Yes I did. I hit it with a dremel and a stone first and then sandpaper down to 400 grit.
You’re exactly right about sharp edges causing preignition.
Great job thanks for the very instructive video
Did you torque the rotor bolt, you said that you were waiting for the torque value.
Good catch. Yes I did but it was after I recorded the video. I was hoping no would notice.
common problem on redmax i keep the little springs clips and paws on hand ..i broke flywheel with claw puller first time.. been using a flat air chisel on end of the crank shaft since then ..your puller might be better on the crank seals ..but so far i have not had a problem
I was going to look for the parts and fix the one I took off of I could find them. Is no wonder they fail with all the compression that motor has.
@@MEGMotors972 i get some parts from parts tree..there a little high but they normally have things in stock
I was just bragging on my echo gt200r now for some reason my air filter is getting gas or oil on it iam using red armor echo2 cycle oil and filter is getting a little red . Any idea what causes this we would definitely appreciate your advice Thanks
Is it still running okay?
Typically it is either the carburetor flooding because of the diaphragm or the needle. These engines also tend to blow a little fuel back out of the carb when they are run hard and that can get worse as they get older. If you have a brightly colored oil in the gas you can sometime see it on the filter. If it's just a little and it is running okay I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Thanks for getting back to me it’s not too much fuel on the filter if it gets any worse I will use your answer to my question which I know you hit it 100 percent correct. Thanks again for the information I will be watching for more great videos
I was lucky to have a donor same model a friend gave me I used the clutch also used pull start still a lot of spare parts thanks for your reply we will be watching for more great videos Thanks
I have the same trimmer I bought new in2006 still working though the years I changed clutch carb and drive cable that’s about all in18 years thanks for the video
That’s awesome. I really like the Echo line of equipment. It amazes me sometimes when I get these older pieces in the shop, how tight and smooth the engines still feel.
Wow! I remember putting a crank in a Honda Super 90 (1965?). Got I back together without the tools you have, with a few extra parts left over. It actually ran! Couldn’t do it today. Great video explanation.
I tore my 1971 Yamaha 175 down a few times back in the day with almost no tools. Back then I had to fix it if I wanted to ride it and nothing was going to stop me from riding, lol. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
I never saw you prime the engine before pulling the start 25 times. Might have helped.
Which start attempt? In most of them I think I said I could smell gas so a prime didn’t make sense although I did eventually try a prime in every attempt. With the coil being bad I don’t think it would have helped.
Wow, that was some good trouble shooting there. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, that was a tough one for sure.
I have a Homelite chainsaw that for love or money won’t start. Has fire. Has compression. 2 different carbs. Gave up. So now I’m going to pull it back out to check the coil. Thanks Mike
Good luck with it. Let me know if you get it figured out.
Where can you buy a rebuild gasket kit
Amazon and eBay have both the complete carb rebuild kits or just the metering diaphragms depending on which way you want to go. I typically buy the diaphragms in bulk to keep costs down.
Another shoulder buster.
Mantis tillers have the same kind of manifold block that your string trimmer has where the bolts are captured in the block and they can move around. I think Mantis tillers are made by Echo. I went back to watch this again because I’m trying to get a Ryobi trimmer running that has the same type carb. Nice video. Going to try again, thanks.
You completely walked me through what I blindly had to do 9 years ago <shudder>. I'm having another fist-fight with the GT200R. Thank you for your guidance!!!
So happy I could help and good luck with your repair, I'm sure you'll get it fixed :-)
great vid, i found those carbs come from factory running lean. the idle jet , i resize it to next bigger size.
Thanks. I seem to see that a lot across a lot of different types of equipment. It's like they come from the factory just barely rich enough to run so anything that causes them to lean out, even just a little bit, becomes a problem.
Nice video Mike. I have that same blower hanging down in my basement for at least 20 years. I think it’s time for the trash. I hate to give up on a project though.
Thanks for the feedback. It actually works pretty good so I’m glad I was able to get it fixed. The pull starter issues made mine a bit difficult but if it had just needed the carb and fuel line work it wouldn’t have been too bad. Don’t give up, save it from the landfill :-)
I have the same one, its basically a troybilt. its on its 7th season and still going strong. only had to replace throttle cable a few years ago and bump knob retainer twice. I always use ethanol free fuel mixed with full synthetic 2 cycle oil and in off season store without gas.
I believe your fuel choices are why it is still working. Good job on that! I also only use non-ethanol fuel in anything I have with a carburetor.
Thanks helped me out alot...I thought they were hard to do but nope not at all😊
Glad I could help!
Time to get mine working now. Thanks
It’s the same as the craftsman B2000 blower and easy to fix if cly is ok😊
I've seen a few cases where equipment from different sellers looks to be the exact same piece.
I like your methods. great info thanks from NJ
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you like the videos!
Nice tip on the grease on the lever spring. I seem to always have a problem getting it on without multiple tries. Thanks
Thanks, I’ve had a spring go flying a time or two myself.
good video
Glad you enjoyed
I have sausage fingers so I put a small dab of grease into the spring pocket to keep the spring in place. This makes it a lot easier when putting the metering lever assembly and hinge pin in place without worrying about the spring going flying or falling over. The grease just dissolves in fuel and has never caused me an issue.
That's a great idea. I do that on oil seals to keep the garter spring from coming off when I drive them in but I never thought to do that for the spring on the carbs.
Chain not a blade lol and chain came off the bar not chain off the blade lol just messing with you great video
lol, I know that for sure so I'm not sure why I called it a blade in the video. I never knew how often I do that until I started making these videos. I call stuff the wrong name all the time....lol.
@@MEGMotors972 it cool just some you tube humor I loved the video very informative thank you for sharing

A microphone closer to your mouth would be a significant improvement to your videos.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm still new to this and working on improving the quality of my videos.
Good job!
First thing I do is remove muffler and look at piston 😊
Good tip!
People ask to much for the old equipment in Texas and they have no idea how much it costs for parts and labor to fix them, I enjoy fixing them but not putting big money in old stuff 😢
That is always a problem so I have to shop around a bit to find the ones that are in good enough shape to fix and not overpriced. I seem to have the best luck with bundle deals where I can get multiple pieces from the same seller.
Again, nice video with good explanation of process.
Thanks for posting. I like how you explain what you’re working on. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback and for watching. More videos coming soon :-)
Looks like you fixed it, sounds good too.
Thank and yes, it is running great once again. Probably the funnest bike to ride that I have ever owned, love this bike.
