    Bud I thought your review in general was great but the chromatic abboration was definitely switched, think you got the pair you were holding wrong there. Otherwise perfect review on all points. Also HD in bino terms really mean very little there is no industry standard to measure density of glass, I have seen binos with 0 HD claims on them outperforming supposed HD at exactly the same price point.

    Thanks for the review. I recently bought a pair of the Leupold BX-1 McKenzie HD 12x50 and do not care for the binocular harness. This is an important feature when carrying a binocular in the field all day and the need to quickly access the binoculars. You mentioned you liked the Leupold strap. Can you prepare a video on the comparisons of the various harnesses that are available and your favorite?

    Thanks for this! My much loved Voyage charge is no longer holding very long so after 10 years, it looks like it's time for an upgrade and you're right, there's really no one comparing them. Plan on buying during the Prime Day sale but I don't know if I should just get a paper white or go to the oasis - but I'm not thrilled with the shape/size of that one. Love my Voyage so much so I'm so sad it's starting to go on me. Love the haptic buttons and the size, now they just need to make a Kindle that's basically the Voyage but make it water resistant/waterproof like the oasis and you'd have a total winner. *sigh*. I went from the kindle Keyboard to the Voyage so since almost the first Kindles came out, I've only had the 2! Love my e-reader so much! Also, do you have any other thoughts about upgrading from the Voyage and what is more comparable to what they currently have?

    • @themanfromoregon6047
      @themanfromoregon6047 Před rokem

      Even though they don't make the Kindle voyage anymore I'm pretty confident they still make the batteries. I have two and both of them are finally starting to die a little faster than I would like, so if I end up buying a battery and replacing it I'll let you know how it goes. But there isn't anything on the market is that exactly fits the bill. I'm also a big fan of the haptic buttons. Hopefully the battery replacement is successful I can report back to you. I will say at this point my voyage is basically my travel Kindle and my paperwhite is my bedside table Kindle.

I might try to replace that first as well but daughter and husband gave me money for a new Kindle so may end up buying a new one too and doing the same. Travel and out and about and one stays at my bedside/pool and spa reading. The Voyage is just a really good iteration of the e-reader so they really need to bring that back with some upgrades. Thanks for responding!

    Great review and comparison. My own glass snobbish eyes require at least $425 (when on sale or $499 regular price) Athlon Cronus binoculars. Just take home lunch to work for up to a month to save up for the difference. If I were forced to buy Vortex it would at least be a Razor. The minimum Leupold binoculars for me would be the BX5 Santiam for around $650-ish when shopping smart. If I were on a really tight budget I'd buy 10 of the best customer rated Amazon binoculars all under $100 each and return 8 or 9 of them after comparing them all side by side instead of spending $250 on either of these Vortex Diamondback HD or Leupold BX2 binoculars since I'm positive one or two of the 10 from Amazon are going to be clearer and have a wider FOV than either of these and once I find the best ones I'd buy a spare or 2 that's the lifetime warranty right there. A buddy bought a bunch of sub $50 Amazon binoculars and kept the best and returned the rest then bought extras for spares and gifts. He insist Vortex charges at least 5x the amount they should for their Chinese made optics. I haven't seen what exactly he compared the sub $50 Amazon binoculars with (NAME BRAND). I think sub $100 from Amazon is a better range to choose from.

Leupold is a combat optics company and that would be an issue as well in a combat situation. Lens flare is something that annoys me in both my eyewear/optics and Leupold eyewear/optics has none. Also, you go to a library to read in a peaceful and quiet environment, where it's easier to focus. Not because you want to read a physical book. You talked about smoothness of the focus ring a lot and I agree with you that this is very important to how easy it is to use a pair of binoculars. How about quickness of focus? I've had binoculars where it's smooth enough, but I feel like I have to turn the focus ring an awfully long way to get from close focus to, say, a focus about 75' away, whereas other binoculars had a much shorter travel distance and time on the focus ring to accomplish the same thing. This made a big difference in my enjoyment of the binoculars.
