Dad's out-working you 2:1 :) he's bucking and tossing, you just messing with your saw. Thats a pretty good day out in the woods :) My dad can't work like that anymore, just glad to be able to hang out and b.s. with him.
Do you have a fix for a loose throttle cable for the feather lite?
Great video, I use it almost every year to clean my carburetor.
I just bought a new carb. Came with air filter fuel filter fueling Owings for less than $20.
Thank you!!! This is exactly the info/how-to I needed. I got the shaft cover off and was utterly stumped. 😊
Glad I could help.
How does the lift handle a well stacked bed of logs?
Not good lol
The rewind spring is the lower spring like another commenter that has spun out on mine. Without the case it comes in when you buy it how do you fit that. And in the case you buy a new one in it's still hard to put in. how to fit it if you have a new rewind spring in a retainot case. drop it down in place where you can see the spring through the holes in thecase around the edges. push the spring down into place ' good luck. rewind it into the case and try again. be patient. I'm looking for my rewind spring case- will I find it! @no-way=Jose
I hate those springs, I'm on my tenth one now, and the blower is maybe two years old. I almost traded it for a twelve pack, but the guy only had ten.
cleanest XL i have ever seen
Thank you soo much for your help
Happy to help
So glad I found this :) Great video, followed your instructions and it started right up!
Glad it helped!
What the heck is a homa lite saw? its home lite.. Now we have gay chainsaws..
did you ever think about the saw wrench having paint on it and not letting spark come through it??
15:03 I cleaned the carburetor and same thing happened to me. It starts but then shuts off. Help
Great video!
Thanks for watching.
I have one but I don't know where to buy the fuel lines
Any small engine shop will have them. Or sometimes Tractor Supply will keep them.
You can clean the arrestor by cooking it with a propane torch. Then scrub off the ash with a small brush. comes out like brand new
Yep. I've done that to several too. Some customers want it removed so they never have to worry about it. Thanks for watching.
Just wanted to say thanks for the video! Got to work this morning and digger was flat we a pancake... wasn't sure what to do. Took a minute and thought surely someone on CZcams has had this situation, and surely enough here you are. Thanks again for getting me out of the shit. Awesome video
You're welcome. I'm glad it helped man. I've been in that situation and didn't find a video so I figured somebody out there would find it useful.
I bought a new red XL12 new 1975. Started it saw until oil and gas fill up, then it wouldn't start hot. Took it to the dealer and he replaced the coil ran for a couple weeks no problems then it done the same thing, took it back said coil went bad, ran for about 1month same thing. So I quit using it and went back to my c51 homelite that I bought used from my uncle, ran that old saw until 1977 traded the XL12 and C51 for a stihl 041 farm boss, wow best saw I ever had never no problems ran it for 30+ years...
Mines a John Deere f525 3 wheel zero turn
Mine still won't start with touching that piece but it turns over
Newer machines have a fuel solenoid in the bottom of the carburetor. You'll need to get power to the fuel solenoid for it to start. Turning the key on should do that then jump the wires to turn the engine over.
Omg your bolt trick is fucking genius
I aim to please.
I have the same machine.that SOB has never run right even when it was brand new.Right from day one it was tempermental.hard to start won’t idle continually restarting.Even the mechanics couldn’t get it right.I’ve been fixing and repairing all kinds of small equipment for over fifty years and I couldn’t keep this MF running.right now it might have 8 hours of use in two years.what brand of carb is it.I’m thinking Zama?Chinese knockoff no good in my books.
You’re the man dude. Thank you!
No problem!
the forks on mine are too tight to get the wheel, spacer, and speed sensor off from inside the forks on the axel bolt. Do I need to loosen the forks to get the wheel loose?
I'm not sure, I've never had that problem. 🤔
I just bought a new one. Yours looks so old and used compared to mine. My god
very clear and very helpful. I like the presenter's careful style
Love how informative you were but the kid made this the best.
What bike stand do you have to hold it still?
Oh man, I've had that bike stand forever. Got it when I got my street bike. I don't even remember where I got it, but Harbor Freight has motorcycle rear stands that work well.
@@SmallEngineRepair thanks man will look there
Thanks for the video. I needed that because I having to replace my fuel line. How long should the fuel line be please? Thanks in advance.
If you bought 3ft of line that should be plenty.
Can you drive it without the drive shaft ?
Yes. You just won't have 4 wheel drive.
Really helpful 👌
Thanks dude, this helped a bunch. The fact that the spring went FWANG on me 3 times, didn't help. But I got it back together. Thanks for the vid!
Glad it helped!
Name of spark plug ? Model ? For it ? I need a spark plug
Awesome! I just did the exact same with my tractor Massey Ferguson 250
Thanks for watching!
I got the two screw on top but something is still holding it I found out there is a hook underneath still cant get it off
Thanks for the video. Just bought a 490e and we are having about the same trouble. Throttle cannot be controlled from cab with buttons and hydraulics will stall engine on certain functions. I was told to look at angle sensor on hydraulic pump. If that doesn’t help I may do what you did with the plate.
Keep us updated. Seems to be a common issue with these machines.
My hitachi 200ex-3 just went into limp mode today🤬. Going to do this then dive into the electrical and see what i come up with. Any tips on where to start would be great thanks. And great video also!!
I just picked up a bt150 off the side of the road left the guy a note to make sure that I wasn't stealing his property he said the blower is yours it's leaking fuel so I'm hoping it's just a cracked fuel line like yours. More than likely that's the issue and Tractor Supply is going to be my best friend here shortly😂
You should check with your local small engine shop to buy your line and filter to try and support local. Big business like TSC wouldn't notice it.
@@SmallEngineRepair I always try to support a small business before big corporate entity but actually this morning I was able to diagnose and repair the blower within about 5 minutes ▶▶▶the guy threw it out because it was leaking Fuel and the only problem was the return line had popped out of the grommet.... I trimmed the line with a razor blade a little bit to shape it because I couldn't get it back in the grommet being that it was so dry rotted, and gouged the hole out with a chopstick. 😄😄😄no joke pushed it back in the hole nice and tight and it started on the first pull 😂 I live in a very remote area it's actually almost 5 miles off of pavement before I can even reach my driveway, so finding a small dealer to work with is very difficult where I'm at. Maybe I can look in a major city nearby and have them ship it to me. I do need to replace the lines because they are trashed but it does run fine now♠
@@JohnnyNobody- wow that's awesome. People are so wasteful nowadays. Everything seems to be made to be thrown away instead of fixed.
@@SmallEngineRepair I totally agree with that, no one wants to take the time to try to figure out a problem they just rather go spend money and waste good products and materials to fill the landfills. Hell I've got a belt sander from 1950 something😄 another thing I found on the side of the road. Is it the safest tool around? Hell no it's all made of metal and has absolutely s*** grounding, not something you send the helper out in the rain with. But it's strong as an ox and runs like a top
Genuine question: why are a lot of the cobs husked? And the husks we see are gray, not green. Was this corn picked a while ago or perhaps left in the field longer than normal?
The corn is left in the field until it dries out then ear picked. We don't sell the corn, we grind it up for our cattle feed so it has to be dried. Row crop farmers leave it in the field until dry too. Only corn picked for humans to eat is picked when still green. 👍
He wants to get too close with that cow.
No doubt. He actually ended up getting into some acorns and not being used to them ate too many. Sadly he didn't make it.
What carburetor number did you buy?
Good stuff. 👍
Thanks 👍
Basically, you need two good 12Vdc batteries and 2 sets of jumper cables. No truck necessary. Literally. Was hoping thus would save me a walk across the yard to fire up the old Cat scraper and jump it, but disconnecting all of the wiring is-im just lazy, there I said it.
ditto
Slick move by Ryobi. They probably make a lot of money by producing a switch (on all models) that stop working from ordinary use and charging for a new one. I am always for fixing myself so I really appreciate you confirming my suspicions that I can clean the inside of switch and possibly arrive at a more favorable conclusion.
Good video....got one here .....there junk
You need bare metal to ground a spark. Plug to test in not trying to test on painted ,spark plug testing 101,duh
If i disconnect the fuel line from thr carb, should fuel come out if there is gas in the tank? I replaced carb and fuel lines and it will start, but not throttle
If the lid is tight on the tank then yes. Pressure in the tank will cause the fuel to come out of the line. Crack the lid open and it should stop.
Great video! i would like to add that the white piece in carb comes apart, and folks may have to do this if it's plugged up badly.
Correct. And it'll only go back in one way.
