My God, that third line of Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel may have been the best third line the Pens have ever had. Yes they had their stars, but the cups are not won without this third line.
I come back here time and time to reminisce about the good ole days😢
I miss mike emerick
Rust carried
If there’s a play by play announcer I miss less that Paul Stiegerwald I can’t name it. I despised that crotch sniffer.
Let’s hope the penguins do good this season…. I hope
Yes We got Erik Karlson, Ryan Graves, Sidney Crosby, and Reilly Smith on the same team were winning this years cup
Hockey is the best sport because all the players are down to earth just like us. It's totally proven when any team wins the Stanley cup and every player on the team "desecrates" it by doing all the various things to it while in their personal possession.
god i miss this team
I have been blessed to see 5 Stanley cups 2 which were back to back. 🏒-🏆🏆-🏆-🏆🏆
I miss doc emrick commentating the games now that its on espn
I don't think we'll have another team like this for quite a while!! 😓😓 That HBK line was phenomenal. Plus Hornqvist, Sheary, Kunitz, and Rust we're all amazing. On top of all of that, Crosby and Malkin both produced goals like crazy back then. So sad to see what this off-season brings. 😭😭
Won’t ever forget those two magical seasons❤️
Yes sir
2013 -2015 Chicago Blackhawks unbeatable 2016-2017 Pittsburgh Penguins Unbeatable
It's crazy phill was on this team. Probably one of the best teams in the last 10 years
Not only the fastest team I’ve seen in my time watching hockey but also one of the best. Daley, Rust, Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Kessel, Cullen, Schultz, Sheary, Hornqvist, Kunitz, Dumoulin, Hagelin, Bonino
Why did they use the Gold jerseys for home and the Vegas Gold jerseys on the road
The rangers were always harder to beat than they should’ve been. I watched every second of that series and it gave me grey hairs to begin. Cullen was one of the best signings in penguin history too
The lineup now is trash
to bad now tho
BACK TO BACK
8:35 Crosby broke my mans ankles
Goddam do I ever miss this roster
I really miss these times I took it for granted
I miss those white jerseys
@7:36 Sid being Sid! 💗
Wow, I never noticed how on fire Kessel was during this run. I’m a huge Sid fan. But, he could have taken the Conn Smythe no problem.
I thought he was a shoe-in for it.
Watching this again you could really see just how dominant that HBK line was and that The Phil should have got MVP.
That was F U N ...thanks for posting this !!
Oh that goal horn is so beautiful, I loved every second of this video. Lundquist got lit up in those last two games!
Man, I forgot what a beast of a team this was in the 2016 playoffs
That 2016-2017 team was something else. Just so damn fun to watch. Regardless of what happens moving forward, us pens fans got to watch something very special those 2 years.
@@ryanincolorado549 fr I miss it
Me too, that team was something special!
Forgot empty net goal by Nick Bonino in game 6 vs Tampa.
Facts
It was hornqvist
Man some pretty goals that year!
Jesus that backhand by Malkin in game one vs the Caps was ridiculous.
71 gols
Great Video! Great playoff run this year, was a lot of fun watching it! One of my favorite parts of the finals was when Hammett/Hetfield played The National Anthem at game 4 in SJ
A lot of credit should go to Marc-Andre Fleury, he was the Penguins first half season MVP. He kept them a float through October, November, and December. The Penguins weren't scoring a lot of goals, but were winning tight games of 2-1, 3-2, etc... and MAF prevented the Penguins from being buried early on in the season with his outstanding goaltending. The one game I believe that turned this team's season around was a New Year's Eve 2015 game in Detroit against The Red Wings. The Penguins got down 2-0, but rallied with 5 unanswered goals to win the game 5-2. From that point on, the team's season changed. They never looked back after that game.
I totally agree.I remember commenting somewhere after the Pens won the cup this year and saying pretty much the same thing about Fleury.I said that the first half of the season Fleury single handedly was the reason they won a bunch of games and people blasted me saying "Oh yeah,on a team with Crosby,Malkin,Kessel,Letang etc Fleury wasn't the only reason they won".Guess they didn't tune in during the tougher times of the season!
Of the three Stanley Cups I've seen the Penguins win, this was the best one even better than the 09 team. This team looked discombobulated for about the first three months of the season and Sidney Crosby only had 6 goals I believe when the team hit the Christmas Break and a lot of people wondered if Crosby's days as an elite player were over. Then things changed Jim Rutherford traded Rob Scuderi for Trevor Daley right before Christmas, fired Mike Johnston and hired Mike Sullivan (which was the main reason the team turned their season around), and Sidney Crosby found his scoring touch again and went on a tear after Christmas, I believe he scored 30 goals after December 26th and ended up with 36 goals, 49 assists and 85 points and was a finalist the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Then JR added Hagelin, which brought more speed to the team, and then a rookie goalie named Matt Murray filled in for an injured Marc-Andre Fleury, towards the end of the season, and played just out of his mind in the playoffs. The run this team went on was just crazy. Then you had a bunch of young kids, Connor Sheary, Bryan Rust, and Tom Kuhnhackl, who came up from Wilkes Barre and injected youth and energy back into the team. What really showed how this team was different than years past ones in the post season was in the Eastern Conference Finals against Tampa Bay. The series was tied 2-2 and went back to Pittsburgh for Game 5. The Penguins had a 2-0 lead, the Lightning tied it, Penguins took the lead late in the 2nd, then gave up a late goal in the third that sent the game to OT. Then if I remember, I believe Tyler Johnson scored a bad goal in OT off Marc-Andre Fleury that gave the Lightning a 4-3 win and a 3-2 series lead. In years past a bad loss would have doomed the Penguins in Game 6. This team however responded and Mike Sullivan went back to the rookie Matt Murray who played outstanding in Game 6 and The Penguins Stars delivered in Tampa for Game 6, Crosby, Letang, Kessel all scored in that game and the Penguins won a clutch game and ended up coming back home and winning game 7. That's when I realized this team was destined to win it all after they beat Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals.
:( my sharks....
You missed one.
Long time coming, but mostly thanks for the great hockey. A great day for it and thanks for making Pittsburgh a championship hockey town. Hard not to see the whole organization, for example, Rick Tocchets influence on this team, gritty and determined. He should be proud--these boys are a joy to watch. Nobody could skate with them, defensively responsible and able to exert instant and tremendous offensive pressure.
I never truly realized how much of a slaughter fest that Rangers series was until now .... Jesus, did the Rangers even care?
miss that hbk
Missing the last goal..
Skipped the fourth goal and the last goal...
Fourth goal game 1 vs Rangers?
Next year is a nice replay.
Repeat tm night in nashville
