Sprint #3: Should I start a daily vlog?
zhlédnutí 54Před 2 lety
Progress on the homestead winery is slow, but my learnings are coming fast! That means I'm adjusting details often and my vision of grand, visually appealing and well-edited videos doesn't fit with my current reality. Is the solution a daily vlog??
Sprint #2: One week is not enough time!

I tap maple trees as I provide the weekly update and explain how one-week sprints aren't working out. But scrum is all about being agile, so I make adjustments...
Sprint #1: Plans Have Changed
zhlédnutí 143Před 2 lety
I did a lot during the past week even though the scrum board doesn't show it! And unfortunately it's all about planning and permitting right now, so there's not much in the way of visible progress. But we're moving forward on the homestead winery!

Sprint #0: Why I'm Starting a Winery
zhlédnutí 572Před 2 lety
I haven't always wanted to start a winery, so why am I doing it? It's all about creating a lifestyle: country living, modern homesteading, self sufficiency, and expressing a connection to the land. To make it all happen, I'm using concepts from Scrum project management and Getting Things Done to Build a Winery, Establish a Vineyard, Develop a Homestead, and Grow a Business.

OH, I wold have voted to leave the waterproof switch as is, until you need to change the belt. Once it is up and running it is easy, if needed quickly for softer, to smash it downward. Since thre company is aware of the problem, it should be fair and easy for you to ask them to send you a replacement belt to correct their design flaw. If you did this you’d have the best of it all.

looking at buying one but wait hold on here ......Kenosha Wisconsin saying, may not be that big of a deal, but if they knew about the issue and openly admitted it, they should at the very least send you a bit longer of a belt instead of telling you how to fix an issue they knew about. send them this vid, when they see you're a tuber with over 600k subs, they most likely send the next gen for you to test for us viewers lol . When I converted mine to a Baldor motor I mounted the switch in the motor junction box. I don't know why they needed a separate junction box for a 20A toggle switch. I also added a go kart clutch to prevent stslling the motor. It's been running fine for 15 years. NOTE: Always connect it to a GFI supply. Shalom/gw (EE reitred)

I've split 5 cords through it so far. Does what I need it to. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUyQswtttSffRMblGbrhCvZn7JkhtG1-7 I scrounge all my firewood and am not equipped to handle big wood, but for logs up to 24 inch diameter or so, it works great. I've been amazed by some of the gnarly bur oak and elm crotches it has split. For the tougher stuff within it's size range, you might have to study the piece a bit to decide the best attack, but if you split smart it's up to the job. It did arrive low on oil, and I was would have nicked it half a star for that, but it has regained my full confidence. UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021: Still going strong after all these years. I love the one-handed operation. Hope it's still in production if I ever need to replace it

Will this remove tiny bits of cork that have shedded into the bottle? I'm a bit confused by your video. My cork seems to have gone bad and started shedding tiny bits in.

    • @bey3910
      @bey3910 Před rokem

To remove bits of cork, you just have to pour the wine through a sift or filter, that's easy. The "corked wine" referred to in the video is about an unpleasant taint due to mould.

The issue with the switch was a pretty simple issue. You would think the company would have mounted one on the new motor and test it before they sent those all over to their customers. It's also an easy fix you can relocate that switch anywhere just a couple extra wires need it.

Big ups to you for using Tim Oates' slideshow version of that vintage (pun fully intended) 1950s Italian Swiss Colony ad. CZcams did have the original complete ad up for just a short bit, but shortly after I told Tim about it, it was gone again. Maybe it's only on the ad-free version of CZcams? Or was there a copyright issue? By the way, the "voice" of the Little Old Winemaker in that classic ad campaign was Jim Backus, which explains why he sounds like Mr. Magoo. The actor who played the physical embodiment of the Winemaker was character actor Ludwig Stossel, who was in "Casablanca," "Woman of the Year," and "Pride of the Yankees." Glad you avoided the temptation to use the better known "Ahhhh, the Frensh...shampain" Paul Masson ad that Orson Welles did whilst plastered.

A viable solution. I know this is not a particularly inexpensive machine. I would think that the manufacturer would have seen the problem right from the gitgo and engineered a fix before sending it to the customer, which would not be difficult when you are at the mfg. plant. I think the longer belt is the best solution and pretty easy to do.
