Hi mate, could you do a video about the more mature/graphic gamebooks that are out there. You prob have afew in your collection.

Suspect we will start to see some Gamebooks using A.I. art in the near future if we haven't seen it already. If anything it should make the lower budget efforts more attractive.

I was given a box full of these books from my parents when I started getting interested in the 'Wizard' reprints. Luckily for me they had a complete collection save for Deathmoor and Mage Hunter, and I ended up downloading those from annarchive, which wasn't ideal for gameplay but it's better than paying crazy money for old paperbacks. I have tried buying _some_ books though. A few years back I was outbid on ebay for volumes three and four of the Zagor Chronicles. The other guy went up to thirty pounds for both and then the time ran out. I can't even find them anywhere now and I'm mentally kicking myself for being so cheap because I'll never know how the story ends 😭😭😭 Revenge of the Vampire I feel is let down by that bug at the beginning involving the payment of horse and the inn. Unless you cheat you can't take the optimal path through the adventure. I don't know if other folk get irked by things like that.

Weren't there already 2 sequels? Trial of Champions & Armies of Death? Although Armies of Death was quite different in what the book was actually about, it did directly follow on from Trial of Champions as you play the same hero. So I imagine he means this is as much a sequel in spirit & theme as in narrative?

I’ve got the wee soft back book, what a detailed setting, considering it’s contemporaries. It cost a fraction of the price of the more common campaign settings.

i wish they would produce more sci fi gamebooks. i always love those.

Is this book actually any good as an adventure?

My absolute favourite in the whole collection. Great off the wall skills. Terrific atmosphere. Memorable encounters. It's not too difficult but it feels challenging as you play. Not too many innocuous deaths. I highly recommend this one. 👍

I got 3 of these. Unfortunately not mage hunter. Revenge of the vampire is a great sequel to Vault of the Vampire. Deathmoor and Knights of Doom pretty ok too if a little bit random. Follow the trend of latter books of everything being Skill 9-10 so if someone says oh I finished that easy then just give them two fingers.

My daughter is nearly ready to read these so I have been doing a playthrough making sure of appropriateness and thought I'd finish my collection on eBay to discover what they are worth!?! Unbelievable. Mine aren't in good condition as I played them too much as a kid. I have 25 of the main series, plus 12 supplemenary books. Saw this video and quickly confirmed... No magehunter :-(

There was of course a Buffy the Vampire Slayer gamebook (just choices). But back in 1986 JH (Herbie) Brennan of Grailquest books wrote Dracula's Castle and a Frankenstein one as well. And finally Dane Barrett wrote The Mystery of Dracula, which I think got good reviews.

Don't forget "Caverns of the Snow Witch".

Awesome vid as ever. That jonathan Green book looks a true monster read... Although it's not really a vampire book, or a book I even own, I remember picking up and reading "Caverns of the Snow Witch" (I believe it was in W.H.Smith's many many moons ago... used to get kicked out all the time for reading in the shop, and mainly for standing and reading the Fighting Fantasy books). If memory serves correctly, the witch turned out to be in fact a vampire! I might be wrong on this though, as I could be mixing it up with one of the books in the Lone Wolf series!!!

You should check out "Thousand Year Old Vampire" if you like these gamebooks.

Secrets of Salamonis would have been perfect as a TTRPG scenario but as a gamebook it was just purely frustrating. Shadow of the Giants on the other hand was a great adventure

I am very lucky with my job, as i work from home, painting miniatures too order for several different table top gaming systems, so my head is always in ''that world''. When i was younger, i played the original Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone books, and i think when it comes too those books, i'm backward haha, by that i mean, i seem to love all the ones people dislike and am not a fan of the ones people rave about. For me, Robot Commando, Freeway Fighter, Battleblade Warrior, Sky Lord, Starship traveller and Rebel Planet are amongst the most fun, but even though they are deemed not so great in the grand scheme of those particular books, you are still looking at spending upwards of £70 for good condition ones. Seen an absolute mint condition Sky Lord and it has bids of £104! Crazy. But i didn't even know these books existed, just looked on Amazon and there is so many. Great video and subbed.

Gosh, I had no idea they are worth so much now. I have each and every one of the greenbacks, up to #59. Collector here in Singapore, read them growing up. Never gonna give them up.

If you have watched my above video I mentioned the soaring price of one particular book… Revenge Of the Vampire. I even seen a Facebook post of $700 dollars on EBay for it. I’ve long since given up believing I will own the last 6 Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. I stupidly stopped collecting them near the end of the original Puffin run. I used to naively think they might turn up at charity shops. Hah! Learning a time travel spell seems to be my only hope.

70 pounds for an ongoing auction isn't indicative of anything. I love your videos but it's literally 2 seconds of effort you didn't do. Completed auctions for deathmoor is pretty consistently 140+ pounds.

All of those books would have been 1st edition as it was stated only 5,000 books printed. Only Curse of the Mummy has been reprinted and that was under Wizard (or was that Icon). So those eBay listings showing 1st edition just seem like useless information.
