In the build-up towards Armored Core 6s launch, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco went on tour in Japan, setting up multiple live events where fans would line up around the block to play a demo of the game with a simple challenge: choose from one of three preset ACs and complete "Infiltrate Grid 086" within fifteen minutes, with Boost Kick and one level of Assault Armor as your only OS Tuning options.
These three preset ACs are a nameless bipedal build (made up mostly of Arquebus parts), a nameless tetrapod build (made up mostly of Balam parts) and a nameless reverse joint build (made up mostly of RaD parts). These three ACs have also been used in other parts of the game's marketing (for example, the reverse joint AC appears in the thirteen minute gameplay preview), but are also playable through the in-game Training Programs: the bipedal AC is played in "Beginner Training 2: Combat Fundamentals", the reverse joint AC is played in "Intermediate Support 2: Reverse-Jointed ACs", and the tetrapod AC is played in "Intermediate Support 3: Tetrapod ACs".
Although these ACs were once thought to be merely consigned to the Training Programs, on 10th November 2023 armoredcore.net created a page with a guide on how to share your own AC builds and custom decals (as far as I'm aware this page is only available in Japanese and will be linked in the comments). At the bottom of said page are the codes to download the data for the aforementioned three ACs on both consoles and PC; in other words, these are official FromSoftware preset ACs made available for all!
- You can acquire the data for these ACs by downloading them on your respective device (codes can be found on the official website or in the comments section of this video). -
I'm not counting these as proper preset ACs for the purpose of my own videos on the same subject, as you need to have downloaded the data for them from an outside source rather than unlocking them from within the game itself (even though, ironically, these are among the first presets that nearly everyone will play!). I also decided against doing the demo "challenge" that these ACs originated from, as all my previous AC videos have been done with full OS Tuning (with a single mission exception) which I wasn't willing to reset, and it wouldn't be much of a challenge anyway.
The bipedal AC is the weakest of the three imo, thanks to its somewhat beginner arsenal and poor booster choice. It's far from terrible, due to a solid frame that balances manoeuvrability with solid defences, but you're heavily relying on the CURTIS linear rifle for your ranged damage output; this thing was designed to get close and cut down enemies with the Pulse Blade. While it might look sleek and can be "created" early on during a fresh playthrough, there is clearly room for lots of improvements.
The tetrapod AC is the strongest and it shouldn't be much of a surprise why: the combination of two good missile options (whose general purpose effectiveness is boosted nicely by the P12SML FCS) and the powerful GOU-CHEN grenade launcher means there's very little that can stand against this beast. However, this means the CURTIS is now the weakest armament here - you'll need it to keep sustained pressure on a tough enemy while your other weapons are reloading... which it will struggle to do thanks to the below-average tracking of the aforementioned P12SML. The MING-TANG generator, while solid, could have been a SAN-TAI instead for extra hover time. Still, this is a strong tetrapod build, able to rain devastation from above with ease.
The reverse joint AC is a weird one: while its frame allows for good mobility, and its inner parts are all winners, the arsenal is a mixed bag. The EARSHOT + plasma missiles give you fantastic coverage against a variety of enemies, but the laser handgun is scuppered somewhat due to the poor EN Firearm Spec of the MING-TANG generator, and the CURTIS (appearing for a third time!?!) doesn't make the strongest double-trigger buddy. But it can still put out some serious hurt and the SPRING CHICKEN/12345 booster combo feels great to play with.
All in all, I strongly recommend the tetrapod, somewhat recommend the reverse-joint, and don't recommend the biped. But I will say, they do all have their own unique charm!

    The only flaw of this AC is it's internal parts: switching them out with the YABA generator, Second-gen Furlong FCS with balanced performance and that booster with max boost thurst. I've tried it out, and it's not bad at all. The weapons are just fine, in my opinion.

    It sure feels like the standard loader 4 upgraded with more guns and a different helmet. But what bugs me is the fact he has at the same time an SMG and assault rifle equipped on the right. With something like a laser/plasma cannon, he could do more damage. Well, i think, anyway. Still, as the poster mech of the game, he's quite good.

    One has to wonder why they made the KRSW in the first place. A hybrid laser/plasma gun coupled with a 2-charge system is good, even strong on paper, but like you said, it chews through its ammo reserve worse than the cylinder magazine of a minigun. Tragic irony... But the transcriber is a good AC, if the shield was changed for anything else, that is.

    In general, putting "alpha" on something means it's the first step of creation. Sure, sometimes, it's not perfect by any means but it can be a good surprise. Like, with this AC, swapping its weapons can render him more efficient in combat. Like, say, a plasma rifle on the right arm, maybe a homing missile launcher on the left shoulder, one of the inner parts upgraded and add a defensive expansion. On another point, he reminds me of the classic power suit used in the metroid series, especially the helmet and shoulders.

    I love your commentary and insights on all these - they really helped me understand *why* some of these pre-made ACs seemed to suck so hard despite being in the hands of highly skilled pilots. In particular, your ability to see when a mech was legitimately solid despite being low-ranked, or to find the weaknesses in high-ranked ones, or even see possible plot reasons for the flaws - like Mind Alpha being ALLMIND just slapping every expensive piece of tech it could onto an AC and building something that wasn't all that good, or Rusty's Rubiconian loyalties leading to him mounting underperforming gear instead of using equipment from Arquebus. I'm curious - have you considered finding ways to improve some of these pre-made ACs while keeping their iconic character? You often bring up how an AC has the wrong Reactor for the job, or how it has a mismatched FCS, or just synergizes its tools poorly. I'd love to see what you could do to make, for instance, an "Aster Crown Mk.II" or a "Trainer AC Upgrade."

    I could definitely see this as the test unit for the Vermeil legs and bomb thrower before equipping them to Michigan's Liger Tail. Basic BALAM weapons and AC parts, mixed with the prototype quad legs and explosive thrower getting sent out for a test run.

    The funny thing is, the 'bot don't use actual fire-oriented weapons despite his name. With something like the napalm bomb launcher, he could deal some serious damage and yes, his fcs and generator could be way better then what he has. That said, the weapons are not so bad, the basho is a good all-rounder AC and his industrial color scheme is nice too. So personnaly, i like it. Simply because of his engineer-type feeling.

    MS being the worst is an understatement indeed. Only 2 weapons, no backup in any form and virtually no way to hit at long range. But like everything in the game, there are many ways to improve him and turn it into an effective demolisher. For instance, remove the chainsaw and change his right weapon, put some guns on the rear, swap the fcs and generator for something more useful, add an attack or defense expansion and voilà.

    Honestly, the first i saw this menacing machine, i didn't thought to be at the same time fast, strong and deadly. But then, when you see his weapons, expansion and combat style located between a soldier and an assassin, he's quite impressive. *scoff* No wonder why the pilot is called coldcall and his AC deadsled.     To be honest, you have to give something to iguazu : he's quite persistant, like some of the rivals in pokemon games. More seriously, i find his AC not so bad. And like you said, his shield cripple him being a quick and reactive damage-dealer. If it's swapped for, say, a plasma cannon or a second missile launcher like red did and add the pulse protection expansion, that would be more efficient.

    Technically speaking, the hermit is more like an aerial assault specialist than anything else, like a F22 raptor with head, arms and legs. Plus, the camo paintjob is just perfect. But being not much of a pistol lover myself, it would have been better with a AR like the SCUDDER and maybe a laser blade on the left arm. But that's just a personal preference, nothing more. Also, like you said, if the fcs and generator were swapped for something else, that would be much better.

    i know i'm waay late to the video, but just wanted to add this, after replaying that section in the reveal trailer multiple times, kinda sad that it's booster is trailer exclusive as you can see briefly around 1:32-1:34, but, considering the shape of the booster on it's leg that you could also see in the same timestamp, i would say p04 would make a good fit as it's kinda similar with them

    Some may not agree with me on this one, but i think this AC reminds me of the T-51b power armor from fallout. Of course, it's a more bulked up version of the armor in question who can fly, dodge and attack way faster. Not to mention his tank-like design, too. And like you said, with other guns and upgrades, he can become much stronger.

    Aside from the fact that this AC model has almost the same guns as loader 4, it's kinda funny you managed to make the literal "training dummy" of the game. But don't get me wrong, as seen with your gameplay and like you said in the description, he's quite capable of inflincting high punishement to his enemies, thanks to his simple loadout but also good speed and defense.
