That’s a good idea. I only have a little one that we used for cookie dough though. Since we no longer eat ice cream (at least not scoopable from big cartons) I’ll probable just have to use my hands.

I’m working on getting some soap made. Seems like every time I get time to work on it something happens to derail my plans! There are so many hopes and dreams in my heart and getting my soap business back is one big one.

Since I make absolutely nothing from these videos and they take time away from my family it is what it is 🤣but I appreciate your input.

I mostly use frozen milk but I also make it using the milk in oils method. Freezing it you can use a higher ratio of goat milk (up to 100% of the liquids) but the milk in oils is a little easier if you have access to fresh milk. My cutter is from Nurture Soap but they stopped selling them last year.

I’m going to do a video soon to explain my absence. It’s been a rough couple years. I’ll be getting back to soap videos soon and hopefully attending a new farmers market in Pace regularly. Just getting schedules organized so someone can milk in my absence every Saturday. In the meantime you are welcome to stop by our farm. I have a small shop within my studio for local customers.

We are almost out as well. We had three kid last weekend so thankfully I’ll get to milk at least one in two weeks.

@@Carnivoreandcorgis Yay! It's my favorite to work with in soap making!! I also use aloe vera juice and nut milks but nothing beats goat milk!!

I’ve been making soap for over 13 years now. Shampoo was one of the things with a ton of chemicals that I needed to learn how to do myself so I found a mentor who helped me formulate a good base recipe a long time ago. I’ve tweaked it over the years. I’ve made it with egg yolks but I found our super rich goats milk is really sufficient & I always stressed about the egg yolks going rancid.

I knew kaolin clay helps with scent retention but I hadn’t heard about actually soaking the EO’s in it. I will definitely give it a try. Thank you for sharing!

I’m sure you could, not sure in if the color would morph though. Usually teas all turn brown in cold process. I’d try infusing it in oil to get the color to translate.

Oh yes, lye water would be really really bad. I’ve had it pop up when I’m melting my milk and it’s scary. I wear a mask and my goggles but I’ve still had it get on my skin. I keep a spray bottle of vinegar ready at all times.

I’m sorry about that. I’m not sure what happened there. I’ll be redoing this soap soon & I’ll hopefully not have that issue again.

It is a tricky blend to work with but still well worth it. Your best bet is to soap with your oils & lye water as cool as possible. If you use plain water use ice cubes to mix with your lye so you don’t have to let it cool for a long time.

I’ll be making another coffee soap soon & I’ll share my percentages in that one. Keep an eye out for it.
