I don't think Non-violent protest like how Gandhi and MLK did will work these days. There are far too many governments nowadays led by despots who will not hesitate to kill many thousands of dissenters and/or their families. Far too many willing to use chemical weapons on their own people. Even Hitler never crossed that line knowing first hand what they can do. Other despots have crushed protesters with tanks, use troops and Infantry-level weapons and lay waste. Too many Kim Jong Ils and Gaddafis and worse out there
