At .55 seconds you say a condenser that goes to ground, did you mean conductor? I only see 1 condenser

2 strokes run backwards easily, because it's 2 stroke and no valves

A buddy of mine has a 1968 Evinrude 100 electric shift. He can’t seem to get the lower off to change the impeller. Any pointers???
Are all the wires disconnected?
I had a heck of a time the first time because the wires go all the way down to the lower gear box and I ended up breaking them. They kept getting caught.
Just purchased a starter for mine after my arm fell off pulling the bastard thing. Hadn't been started in 11 yrs. Think I have a misfire. But anyway these start hard if your not in the start position on the throttle

Add 2 stroke oil to the gas. Mix it 50 to 1
do you have instruction on how to replace the universal unit
Where do you connect the hose pipe for flushing and running out of water
If I remember right, there's a hose going right into the head and I connected it there. Make sure you start it, turn hose on, then turn hose off before you shut the ski off or you will flood engine with water

Please
Make sure your condenser is grounded, also run - to points. Have you checked the points or messed with them? There are nylon washers in there that keep system from grounding out. Without those washers you will not get spark.

I don’t know if am confuse I ran the ground to the points and the other one to the coil and the condenser to ground and nothing I got one of the acces coils u thing that would be the problem I just bought the boat and I am trying to put it in the water to take my son fishing

Hey great find! I just acquired one similar for 100. I have a random black wire coming from on the governor plate not connected to anything. is this the ground?

Kevin Romas check to make sure your not sending spark to ground, that's what was happening to me for a while.

Where & how did you learn to do this?
Brian Miller It's actually super easy, it's cheaper too. I took it out for a water test and it ran perfect. Just get a coil with an internal resistor and a condenser. Condenser needs to be grounded and connected to - side of coil and power coming into the + side.
Brian Miller I think I got it off iboats or boats.com. It's a pretty cool thing to know how to do.

Brian Miller. You have one wire for the condenser on negative you have another going to the points whear dose that white one go to that is on the negative side of condenser

Hi Dan, I also have a 68 evinrude boat engine. I was wondering how you have your condenser and ignition coil hooked up. My cdi unit is junk and I'm not willing to pay $300 for a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
@@ryanmartin1171 If I remember correctly, it was + side of coil to the 12 volts from battery and - side of coil to condenser and ground. Ground condenser, - coil to your main ground together.

Cloe Scarpetta one goes to vent in tank, the other 2 go to the fuel petcock

Had the same issue with my 91 capri L-drive. Removed the pins holding the pivot housing with a large socket and a bolt from the lower unit after removing the snap rings. tricky but possible. unfortunately my housing was all messed up top and bottom, ujoint needed greased but still good and the ball bearing for the ujoint was shot, falling out as well as a few pins from another bearing I suspect. it'll need some new parts, possibly some machine work done to salvage the housings. it's a boat so I figure I will need to "Bust Out Another Thousand" Best of luck with your project!

I didnt fog them at all actually. I bought it from a guy who thought the motor was seized. Turns out, the flywheel had rusted so bad that it was keeping the motor from turning. I pulled the engine, cleaned it up, installed new starter and thats what I got, an instant start.
Sweet. Now get out there and ride!
My choke has come unattached from the console, are those glued on?
Should be a sqarish plastic plate on the back side of the console that threads on. Remove the tray under the hood and follow the choke cable back startging at the console. You should find it there. Just had the same problem with one of mine.
