Believing is Seeing - Why?
Hello, I'm Steen Schmidt. With nearly 30 years of experience in IT, including the last two decades at Sun/Oracle, my passion for technology runs deep. Some might even say I'm a tech enthusiast - or perhaps even a good-looking one ;-)
Throughout my career as a presales and IT/Solution Architect, I've firmly believed in the power of demonstration. As the saying goes, 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' That's why I've dedicated this channel to providing tutorials and demos, because seeing truly is believing.
Today, as a licensing consultant, I'm assisting customers while also nurturing a keen interest in cloud and AI technologies. I plan to share insights and content related to these areas as well. Rest assured, my commitment to technology and IT architecture remains as strong as ever.

That's so nice! Please let me know how did you install libvirt package in OVM Server?
Oh geez, all that just to move 1 VM? Guess we can thank Oracle for once again putting no effort into making things simple. Anyways, thanks for posting this - definitely helpful.
i am using FC Storage what should i change in the xml file

How can I switch back to RHEL from ULN? Please help.
Excellent how to video, thanks for producing it. I tried it myself and it worked perfectly. Now my company is evaluating Oracle Linux for our enterprise standard. Thanks again.
the most interesting thing is omitted. I would like to know how to create nfs server. Using typical NFS server i have errors OVMAPI_B000E Storage plugin command [storage_plugin_listFileSystems] failed for storage server
hi, i want know how see the private videos, I'm already subscribed to your channel but still I can not see private videos kinds regarts!
+edgar angeles picon Hi Edgar there are only public videos, I allways make all my videos public. If there is something you are missing or would like to see, just write and I will make it. Best regards Steen
I've setup a share over NFS, mounted it on a linux box, but now I can't write on it. Do you know of a good tutorial that explains the link between the users on the ZFS appliance and the ones on your client?
I would be interested to see how that OVCA is configured, does it use thin cloning? On the in-rack ZFS-SA my OVCA uses more than a minute per deploy of those 12 GB PVM templates. 350 seconds is not nearly as impressive as 26...

Hello, did you made the SCSI video? Thanks
Hi , I will find some time to create one :-) Best regards Steen
Hi Aditya Take a look at this white-paper it will give you a pretty good idea about OVM. www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/ovm3-quick-start-guide-wp-516656.pdf Best regards Steen
I want to learn OVM 3.2 from basics , i have some Linux knowledge , if there are any video tutorials or study materials please provide. Thanks in advance ......
Hello, I'm newbie to OVM so I'm learning from scratch. My goal is to run PeopleSofts VM templates. I have 1 computer with 8G RAM and two hard drives, the dev/sda has OVMS (3.2..6) installed and the dev/sdb is empty and was detected as local storage when the server was discovered. OVMM runs on my laptop with 8 G of RAM. Peoplesoft will require 2 VMs. I created a partition on the empty space of the OVMS hard drive, I created a directory and mounted it in the OVMS filesystem (mnt/poolrepo) I shared this file with my laptop via nfs , nfs works, However OVMM does not see any nfs share How do i create nfs shares without a third computer? Could you guide me on how to configure local storage? Tks in advance
Hi laca001 I will return back to you with some more info, I am sure I can help :-) Best Regards Steen
Hi laca001 If you only have one laptop, the easy way is to use VBOX install the OVM and 2 two OVS, Use you laptop as shared storage. www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/ovm3-demo-vbox-1680215.pdf Best regards Steen Schmidt
gandalf3100 Thanks for the info!
good stuff.
going back to Mexico should solve your problem
Note: Please remember the Warning on the Oracle Virtual Server: making manual modifications in the management domain might cause inconsistencies between Oracle VM Manager and the server. Which mean that I am doing a video with the Oracle VM 3 Utilities, that is installed on the OVM.
Hi Tswern Please take a look, there is all so a video in High Resolution "Oracle VM 3.0 Setup (Good Video Demo Quality)" then choose HD. You should all so install the new version OVM 3.2.1 more or less the same procedure
Unfortunately the picture is too blur. Can't see what is going on.
Yup, i was able to create the NFS share, the bad news is that does not support the bandwidth for a VM to work and the NFS share crashes. I had to go with the OCFS2 option, hard to understand and harder to configure. LOL
Sorry for the late answer, been very busy :-) . Did you find out how this was done ? if not it is pretty simple, in my setup I just made an NFS share from the Linux/server it self. You could allso do this from the ZFS storage appliance (see the video about this one). Remeber you have to create two shares :-)
good tutorial
how do you create the nfs storage before you were able to discover them?
@anup23985 Hi, what do you mean ? can you give some more to work on ? Best Regards
@ffernandn Hi, Been very busy :-) Cannot tell you what is going wrong but take a look at this document: Oracle® VM User's Guide Release 3.0 for x86 Part Number E18549-03 5 Managing Storage Also you should take a look at 3.0.3 they made some good improvements.
what should be the value of access host during the creation of the file server(storage) ?
