How wide and thick is the oak trim on the front?
Smartly done👍

Why didn't you use the cutoff tool. To finish?
Not a fan of the microjig?
You should have shown the process of applying the oil. This is special magic for a tree! Maybe it would be worth filling the knots with epoxy resin? Overall - good work.
What oil did you use to finish it?
Odies oil
Nest tool on the list?...........bandsaw!!!
Funny thing… I actually do have a grizzly bandsaw, just don’t have it in my shop, not enough space for it sadly.
Hey, bro, I think you did absolutely fine. Keep up the great work! And I'm definitely going to make one myself. You explained and showed quite well how to do this. Thank you!
Fun fact: in Jr high woodshop class. Not paying attention I hit a knot in the wood and almost died.
@3113jp 0 seconds ago I didn't get the part of listing how many bd ft of each type wood. Is that somewhere?
Hey, great video! Kinda suprised you dont have more than 200 subs to be frank! I think if your mic had a little more padding, it'ld help with the extra crispness of it, otherwise it looks great
Cool Video 😮
What size are your bourds at finish
I'm an old framer and my knife is my pinsel. my houses don't shrink or bloom love ur work.
Amateurish work. Sorry to say that, but you must learn a lot about craftmanship.
Do you have a craftsmanship? Doesn't look like it from your channel..
Well done, Hank! I might try this, except I don’t have a drum sander or a track saw, but I think I can make do with what I have. I’m currently (trying to) making a 43x27” desk for my son (mahogany deck and pine legs with castle joints on the corners), and it being my first piece, I’m definitely learning a lot and making some mistakes. Thanks for the time you took to film it and the information. I don’t think most people like how they sound recorded, kinda pipsqueeky, but it was fine 👍
Beautiful box! For humidors, you should not be putting any oil or other finish on the cedar. This inhibits the cedar from collecting/distributing moisture to/from the cigars.
Does that lack of finish also apply to the outside of the humidor? Or is that specific to the inner wood (cedar)?
No sir. Just the interior. Preferably cedar or cypress.
Cool, and a good skill builder
Thank you!
Learn to cut your joints better and you won’t have to fill your miters with wood paste
You should also learn how to install hinges by recessing them into the case. You will have a better fitting lid and again much stronger.
Hank love your passion for woodworking. You need to learn to rebate your box bottoms in. Also you need to to reinforce your miters with splines. CA & pin nails are not going to hold up. If you are charging people money for your work you owe them a product that will last. CA glue even with wood glue is not strong enough for boxes that might be dropped or handled in hand often like a humidor will be. Otherwise your construction process is fine. Keep making stuff and making videos but you must learn to rebate your box bottoms into the sides. It makes it so much stronger and will open up many more opportunities
Beautiful project but terrible editing, show the sanding in sped up motion and the build in real time.
I will agree with you on that. If I had known this video would do as good as it has I definitely would’ve spent more time on editing. I do appreciate the feedback, however I’m a woodworker not an editor so I’ll try harder on the editing next time.
Would love to see another cigar box
Beautiful Build, would you mine sharing where did you get the front latch from?
I used hillman solid brass. I found it at my local b&s hardware store. I just painted them black and used a wire brush to show some of the brass under the black.
Maybe you should try country craft because its painfully obvious to me you know about fine woodworking
I’m sorry, what is country craft?
Awesome Job Dude!
What were your deminsions on your “sticks?@ great job
The walnut and maple were 3/4” thick and 1.5” wide. The cherry was 3/4”x3/4”. When the 3 pieces are together the squares are 1.5”x1.5 square. I hope this helped, if you have anymore questions don’t be afraid to ask, I’ll try my best to answer them correctly.
@@hankswoodshop how long were they?
@@kandiecandelaria3134 if I remember correctly they were 4ft long and it was enough for me to make two big cutting boards.
@@hankswoodshop thank you!
@@kandiecandelaria3134 you’re welcome!
