What does it mean if a bright neon pink makes your skin look more tan? Does that mean it's not the right colors ? Not sure if you suppose to look colorful or dull in face to have the right color ?

Haha did I write this?! This is EXACTLY how I feel! Royal blue is one of my favorite to wear. My hair is getting darker over the years but still maintains the red in it. Would this mean leaning more towards Spring colors vs autumn.

Thanks for this video, very helpful! Can you make this adjustment anywhere else apart from photoshop? I saw an interesting video last week about subtractive and additive light, RYB colour wheel and CMG colour wheel, respectively. It went into how colours on our screens are made from the additive colour wheel (CMG), and this can affect how the colours are translated in the images when looked at on a device. It it also very much depends on your device and its graphics capabilities, screen quality, etc (Disclaimer: this is a very unscientific explanation of the video!!!) Is there a trick for adjusting for this additional colour wheel conundrum, or does this de-sallowing method cover all the bases? 🤯

This makes sense. I am warm deep but also olive. Randomly, I previously thought, magenta looks terrific on me and I have always considered it cool deep. Last year I was told that I am olive and it changed my thinking. So many pieces started to fit as I’ve only looked at undertones and not overtones previously. Love your channel. I learn so much.

This is so interesting thank you. I really struggle as I was analysed years ago as a winter and was told to wear fuschia lipstick. I am high contract with dark hair, dark eyes and brows and my skin is a medium olive with neutral green undertone leaning a bit warm. I struggle with lipsticks and find any bright pinks look awful unless they are muted and lean mauve. If I wear lipstick I often have to add a red tone or brown tone to make it blend in more with my colouring and can never decide if I need to wear deep warm tones or cool deep colours. Yet deep mulberry wine shades look good on me as well as browns or red browns. Yet I had been told to wear fuschia which can look striking. It is so confusing when olive toned.

I found this fascinating. I’ve typed myself as a soft autumn. I’ve looked at a lot of videos and it made sense to me why a lot of make up doesn’t look quite right on me, I have similar colouring to a lot of soft autumn celebs and my contrast is low. Could you recommend a red lipstick or any lipstick for a soft autumn please? I’d love to wear a red lip but it always seems to wear me! I totally agree, the warm lip colour blended with your colouring really nicely.

I disagree, i look great in olive green and terrible in bright red, I right away look green, I try to avoid wearing that color it looks pretty bad on me, but a darker wine red looks awesome

As a pale🫒, I can attest to anything yellow or near yellow on me makes me look jaundiced or gray. Blues for me contrast too much and also make me look more yellow in comparison. Desaturated blues with depth or grayness are okay, but not “best.” I have found that cool and dark reds, plums, blacks, charcoals, and optic white are my best colors. I didn’t choose the goth life, the goth life chose me. 😂

I was wondering if there were some slightly bright tones in the soft cool medium. I used to think I was a soft summer with more depth, but a lot of those colors looked drab on me. I now know that I’m slightly soft with a need for a touch of brightness. I think the soft cool medium probably suits me best. I may even be able to play in some of the bright cool medium colors as well.

I have a funny story about color balance. We had photos printed many years ago, and we were surprised to see 3 sets of prints. My husband is Chinese and, in the first set, he looked completely normal but I looked raspberry pink. In the next set, he was golden yellow jaundiced, and I was completely normal. The 3rd set split the difference. We had a good laugh about the technician's struggle.

Im the 2 or 3rd lighrwst oluve tone you showed, almost a dead match for my very fair skin. Idk where these has come from, as no one in my family is my undertone/overtone. I burn and go back to being pale until a little cokor sticks, then i tan and when i do- its very obvious im olive. Being this fair tho, as i dont like the sun, its much harder to tell. Make sense why ive had to mix my own foundation shades for the last 20 years, when i figured it out at 15. Lol

So opposites for olive skin but similar colors for warm & cool. Ugh, I’ve never found a system that really makes sense…(I guess that’s why it’s called color *theory* lol ) & classifying colors as warm & cool are manmade, not intrinsic qualities of color.

She’s right. I’m pale olive. Cool colors/deep winter colors suit me amazingly. I can pull from deep autumn occasionally but that’s because I lean cool/neutral. Straight warm tones and gold dyes in my hair washes me out and my under eyes look darker. Muted is awful as well.

I'm a redhead with lots of freckles and green eyes. A recent revelation for me was pastels and "soft" colors drain me. Like this presenter says medium saturation works best. For me I like rich colors not bright.

I'm a pale, cool olive. I've been typed as a 'soft summer' in 12 season. I have a predominantly yellow overtone and a green/grey undertone (sounds lovely 😂) with blue eyes and ashy hair. I absolutely cannot touch anything in the yellow or orange family. Green is actually good as long as its not super yellow. I wear a lot of soft pinks, blues and greens and brighter blues and greens. Darker greys are pretty good as well. I think my softness overrides the oliveness because I would say bright magenta and purples look terrible on me.

I'm so confused. I look so similar to her and have typed myself (and 2 of my family members thought the same -all 3 of us without each other's input) as Soft Summer. I've been wearing Spring colors for years and realized when I reassessed that these Soft Summer colors make me feel and look way better. I learned online that matching skin tone is more important than hair and especially if we dye our hair. I'm assuming she isn't a natural auburn.

Ok so Im a bright winter in winter…when my skin goes ivory and í have Brown hair. In the summer í get golden hue over my skin..I get light hair…I have grey blue eyes. I am bright spring…I look better in spring colors so I go to those colors..but now my natural hair color is middle brown with 50% gray. 🙃🧐🫨

I'm confused. In makeup for example, colours opposite green are recommended for people wit green eyes because it makes the green pop even more. I thought wearing those colours would make olive skin look even more green

I'm a read head with blue/gray eyes and can't stand to wear bright colors. I tend to stick with neutrals. If I do color, its olive green or a light blue.

Oh lord this is so me! So helpful! I've been so confused if I'm winter or autumn (heck even spring.) Cool Summer/Soft Summer has too cool of greens for me, I need more foresty/slight emerald green/hunter greens, etc. It's been rough to find a season but I've been focusing on just building up a palette of colors that work don't work and will worry about the season later. I have bright gray eyes too so I just kind of morph to colors that surround me moreso than others may. I think I need some bright colors with a slight autumn cast to it so I wear many autumn blues/greens, bright winter yellow, bw pinks/ spring crossover reds. I think my bright colors I wear well from BW/BS and my deeper colors, blues, and greens from DA/DW.

This stuff is fascinating. 80% of my wardrobe is warm autumn, I can recognize it immediately. All deep, muted, Earthy colors. I gag when I try bright winter colors..as much as I love those colors independently. I notice sometimes I look decent in softer spring colors, which led me to this video. In this video I think you may have said/implied (I could be wrong) that light and cool need to wear 'some color' , even if soft? (Best not to wear light cool grey - preferable to wear an actual color...)
