The winds were gusting 10 to 50 knots at Lanes and made Kitesurfing challenging but really rewarding when I could actually link a turn. When the wind backed off just enough I was able to catch a few waves surfing. Filmed by Marc Chambers

This was the 26th year of Beach Fest. The last time I competed in Bodyboarding was in this event probably 20 years ago! Around 10 years ago the event was going to cease to exist and that’s when my foundation stepped in to support this community driven kids event. The event wouldn't be possible without the Paia Youth & Cultural Center. Thanks to all the Volunteers & Families that made this event...

One of the biggest swells to hit California first passed by Jaws on Maui. We first paddled surf clean Jaws before hopping on a flight to Mavericks in California to immediately surf the biggest and most unruly Mavericks I've seen. We came home in one piece! What an exhilarating experience training to sail on one of the fastest sail boats in the world! Thanks @SailGPUSA , If were never invited back we totally understand. man,the image quality is unbelievable....the depth of field is amazing,everything eagle eye sharp..no matter if near or far! Which GoPro model is it?
It's funny because GoPro cams don't do the size of this wave justice. I've seen some GoPro footage and then the footage from the shore and these GoPros, as great as they are, just don't give a real indication of how big these waves are. During the 1st wipeout the screen was going very black and it did it a few times. I could see myself in the reflection of the screen with this awful look on my face like Oh Good Lord I would not want to be surfing that wave.
I’m in awe. I just can’t start imagining how much courage that’s needed to surf big waves because for me a 6ft wave already feels like dropping from rooftop 🤣

This is an amazing video! I remember getting caught inside on the North Shore of Oahu and felt this way some days. Nothing near as big as this but the feeling is the same. Incredible footage of what is REAL!
