I came across this while clearing out my memory cards so figured I'd upload it. A couple clips from a GoPro hero 5 strapped onto the back on my old gen3 liberty. Exhaust specs are at the beginning of the video. In my opinion the setup isn't too loud but has a nice tone at around 3k rpm upwards, also has some nice little pops on downshift too. The H6 and Porsche flat 6 are the closest sound to a V12 out of a 6cyl. Just like UEL on a 4cyl (subie rumble) the offset placement of the H configuration naturally gives this engine a UEL. So therefore it produces a baby V12 sound effect. Almost like how the 4cyl UEL that makes the subie rumble is trying to replicate an crossplane V8. Crazy how pipes and configurations can alter sound. 😂
I still like the looks of this gen Legacy/Liberty the most, the following generations became a bit too bloated IMO. Sad that Subaru has now killed off the Legacy instead of making a new generation that's sporty again.

Headgaskets aren’t as big of an issue, you may get some noise from the timing chain tensioners/guides but apart from that not much

Still had two cats and a resonator so not a straight pipe, but yes too loud for me now.

Drove a 2004 H6 for 3.5 years and the day I traded it in was a sad one. I dreamed of supercharging it. Maybe someday! These cars are amazing and there's a reason you don't see tons on the secondary market-people do not give them up, because they're amazing. Tha sedan could go almost anywhere.
