BMW CSL - Why the Batmobile is the true hero of BMW.
Ever since I was a young boy, the BMW 3.0CSL has always held a special place in my heart. Growing up in the 1970s I had a slot car set that had one of these as the car resplendent in Jeagermeister colours. And so when the opportunity came to spend the day with a real Batmobile, I jumped at it. Will it live up to its heroic status in my mind? Will that young lad in flared jeans and curly ginger hair be as smitten with the real thing as he was with his Powertrack model now he is older, although maybe not wiser? And why is the BMW 3.0CSL such a significant car in the company's history? Time to find out in the first of our Classic Car Reviews House of Cars......

Jeep Avenger - A Jeep, but not as we know it.

I've driven Jeep's new Avenger before as I have reviewed the electric onion AutoEV. But I was curious when they launched the car with the little 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder engine. How could this be a proper Jeep? After all, I own a big Jeep Grand Cherokee myself, so I was intrigued to find out what Jeep DNA might have filtered through......but then I realised that I had got it all wrong. 0:00 - Intr...

Thank you for this review. I have been looking around at cars as I change my car (Motability) next February. I have very much shortlisted this car, the Extreme version, as, though I don't need 7 seats, I do need lots of space for my wheelchair and my assistance dog, a Labrador. I don't do long journeys very often and hope they are correct when driving in and around my home I could be on electric for 80% of the time! I loved my C4 Citroen Picasso but they stopped making that so I have an SUV which I hate. My dog is getting older and finding it difficult to jump into the high boot. I've only done 2500 miles in 2 years as I can only get my dog, or my wheel chair in at any time! She will not get onto the back seats. We've tried and tried and given up! Stickers and lettering, colours of handles etc. are of no interest to me! Are they deciders for some people? There aren't many charging points down here in Cornwall so I worry about a fully electric car as I don't think I would be able to have a home charging point. What I do know is that, if I can get my dog and the wheelchair in the car I will be doing a bit more mileage!

Great review, my wife after previously having 7 original Yaris' picks up her premier Yaris Cross on Tuesday next. I have a CHR but I think the Cross is better for space, especially in the back. Glad you liked it, it's not cheap but like my hybrid CHR (Ave mpg at about 64 around greater London and the M25) the running costs are likely to be minimal and I think the looks especially in Urban Khaki are superb. Toyota are creating some excellent cars.

Thanks for that. We have had Excel with city pack for a year and getting 60+ mpg over 14000 miles. Looking at changing to premiere or maybe waiting for all electric version (2025?) Brother in law also interested in Yaris Cross but only usually does short journeys. Some forums suggest that there can sometimes be a possibility of the battery losing it's charge when the car is only used for short journeys or is left parked up for several days (eg at Airport) Does anyone have any info/views on this. We are really pleased with ours which is why we are happy to get another one.

So many reviews and you dont see the engine. i would have liked to see the boot lol The interior is so minimal its refreashing to be in a car without all the i crap. Well laid out and elegant sporting seats, great visibility no distracting screens. I was very surprised its just 4 speed for a light car with 200bhp id have thought it would have overdrive at least as with the autobahn it would be very revy? the engine bay is a joy to see a simple well engineered rewarding drivers car. I got mine in Australia 2 weeks ago after having it on order for 15 months. It's called the Yaris Cross Urban, and I purchased all the bells and whistles. It has extras like dash cam, the boot protector, and weather shields, plus the nano coating with a lifetime guarantee on the duco, plus tinting on all windows. I paid $49k. It's also AWD, has a heads-up display, lane correction, accident avoidance, among other things, and the colour is Atomic Rush, which is a deep red with a black roof. I'm still learning all the things it can do, and that seems never ending. I can use a dial for driving on a rugged trail or in the snow. I could go on and on.

Apologies that you had to endure that, but this is how I review. The automotive CZcams space is very crowded, and so in order for me to stand out, I give a bit more detail on the car I review and the marketplace it sits in. I try to aim my reviews at people who might be looking to actually buy the car, so the amount of detail I give is important - a hangover of me having been a car salesman for nearly 30 years I'm afraid. This won't be for everyone, so if you would rather watch people drag race cars, or skip over important pieces of information, this might not be your channel. If it isn't, the all I can say is thank you for giving its try and taking the time to comment. Terrific review, and I couldn’t agree more with your comments and sentiments about the car. I bought my A110 in April, a base model and I’m absolutely delighted with it. I love the fact it’s a mid-engined all aluminium sports car. I love the fact it has just enough of everything and not too much of anything. I love the steering, it’s fabulous and the seat comfort. I love the handling balance, the ride comfort and the performance. And I love how it looks. I’ve driven many cars over the years but it drives better than anything I can think of. Why not a Cayman? Because I love the exclusivity of the Alpine, only real enthusiasts know what it is. Just so you know, you can open the rear window! There are 3 knurled bolts under the forward edge of the boot, undo them and the rear window can be lifted. It’s held open with a little prop. And a final fact. Why are there 2 gas struts on the front boot lid when a prop would have been lighter? Because the engineers were worried the lid would distort when propped and if they’d re-engineered it with more strength, that would have weighed more than the 2 gas struts! Subscribed!

You've avoided the mistake that other reviewers have made of referring to the CVT as being a belt drive, when it is in fact an eCVT using planetary gears. You have, however, repeated their error of referring to B mode as brake regen, whereas on Toyotas the B mode is only used to provide engine braking on steep downhill runs (thus avoiding potential brake fade).

I have had exactly the same car for 2 weeks, love it. Lots of safety features, i was pleasantly surprised with motorway driving it was better than I expected. Heads up display is very good and even sat nav information is displayed on the windscreen. My last car gave me 35 MPG this yaris cross is giving me 66 MPG

I have the same model, same year 2024, brand new from factory. Though with the one with 116HP. I genuinely dont think its worth 3000 euros extra for just that 14hp extra / 0,5 seconds faster accel + "sound dampening". 3000 euros is a lot btw.... I got mine called "Style edition" for only 26k euros. Paying by month, it costs me only 150 euros. I think thats a bargain. Not either a fan of this new Khaki color. I bought the silver shimmering color which I think looks excellent. But to each his own I guess. Though 130Hp and sound dampening is NOT worth 30k euros extra! And I honestly DONT understand all the complaints about Noise. WHICH NOISE?!? SERIOUSLY. You guys gone soft, really. Back in the days with manual cars, you are actually supposed to listen to the engine when shifting gears. You know what i think? People / you guys are getting spoiled!

Absolutely brilliant little cars, im on my second GR Sport the 24 model and i thought the first was good but the 24 model is so much better and constantly returning 60 to early 70 to the gallon.

Does the extra engine power make a difference?

An honest review, presented very professionally. I recently bought a 2022 Yaris Cross and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely Seiko SKX BTW!...a true classic.

Thank you for your kind comment about the video. And about my watch…..I have a bit of a thing for watches and Seiko is one of my favourites. Live my SKX and have recently added an SRPD51 or DressSK.
