      I liked this episode. I enjoyed the storyline that the shuttle provided storyline. Other star trek series used there versions of there stories. I have an idea to take star trek using elements of the a rwam where the shuttle becomes a version the gmc van. An outside look of star fleet culture away from formal star fleet element. Saving people on worlds in the way the a team did it with its clients. The "borrowed " shuttle" would be modified to go faster and have a few tricks up it's sleeve. I feel the crashed shuttle in the star trek movie, star trek 5, cause be the root of the new moded shuttle. My thoughts.

    This was a passable, but forgettable episode, made noteworthy only by the first appearance of the Vulcan mind meld. The episode isn't important for what it was, but rather what it has historically. BTW: Dr. Noel was a hastily rewritten last moment replacement for Yeoman Rand, who was about to be dropped after the next two episodes. Also, S. Bar-David was the pen name of frequent Lost in Space writer Shimon Whinchelberg, who would also write a draft of The Galileo Seven.

    This was a cohesive and enlightening overview of this history. Thanks! I saw the William Burr movie in it's entirety before any other Godzilla film. Nowadays I make it a priority to maintain an original, and "Americanized" dubbed Godzilla films. I used to watch dubs on channel 11 during their occasional Godzilla marathons, but am glad that I've been able to obtain many of the the subtitled Japanese audio version.

      I remember being told about the Japanese version when I was a mid-teen. It was said that there was more emphasis on Godzilla being caused by our nukes.@@classiccomics7065 As far as I'm concerned after having seen it, the main difference is that we don't get Raymond Burr's character (I used the wrong first name in my previous comment). As for the original damming overview I was given in my youth, I would say the message in the movie wasn't so blunt. I'd tell you how it differs but I'd hate to spoil the 1953 movie for you.

    Hey, nice review! I agree with you in regards to Rabbi Cohen's reaction to seeing Batman in the alley, generally speaking. However, that can be easily enough explained by remembering that all anyone did in those days is listen to the radio, which was on most of the time. So, reports of a man in what appears to be a giant bat suit breaking up crime sprees across Gotham during the previous couple of weeks would've been the talk of the town and Rabbi Cohen could've simply thought to himself off panel, "Omg, this must be that man in the bat suit the radio news has been reporting about recently.", with no need to actually show that reaction. While I have your ear, I also want to clarify the process of putting realistic backgrounds into the comic. What Byrne used to do was take a photo from a magazine, photocopy it so it was black and white, then cut and paste that photocopy into his panel. What Perkins does is find photographic reference online and then hand draws it onto each panel. It's FAR MORE time consuming that the older way of photocopying photos, which Kirby and other artists did even before Byrne did it. It's especially more laborious and time consuming because the exact images Perkins needs aren't usually available, in terms of the angle/perspective the photos were taken, so Perkins usually has to interpret the photos and redraw them in the perspective he wants to lay out his panels in. Other times, he needs to take pieces of various photos and composite them together for a larger scene. Photo ref is a necessary tool, but HOW the artist INTERPRETS it is the important thing. By the way, for any budding artists out there, you SHOULD use photo reference to draw things like buildings, cars, etc. It's the only way they will look realistic, unlike the cheap and cheesy rectangles and squares most artists used to draw buildings in comics before the 1990's. In fact, even Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski will tell you to use photo ref to draw your pages if you want o get good enough to break in.

    • @classiccomics7065
      @classiccomics7065 Před 3 měsíci

      Wow, thanks for informing me about that, I didn't know Perkins was hand drawing all those backgrounds. And thanks for explaining Byrne's technique as well. I didn't realize it was as simple as literal cutting and pasting.

      @@classiccomics7065 Yeah, you're welcome. I've always been even more fascinated by the art of creating comics than in reading them, so it's always nice to pass on the knowledge of how some of these artists pull off some of the techniques they use. 👍

    I like your reasoning and love your choices. I personally like the reasoning and inclusion of Aquaman. But looking at a more broad as well as a more specific picture, it is also possible to consider MERA. She has very similar qualities as Aquaman, yet her hydro kinetic powers and warrior like training make her one extremely powerful character; and I believe she would be more willing than Aquaman to broaden even bent the rules of decision making.

    Couldn’t agree more. I really enjoyed the movie but it fell short in some ways. Aside from the things you mention one thing I was really looking forward to seeing were the sietchs. While the way they were designed in the movie fit the style of the rest of the film it was too much a departure for me. They threw a bright blue sash on Chani as a nod to it which just made me want to see them as described in the book even more. Also the burning of the Fremin bats (birds in the movie) with zero explanation as to why I didn’t care for.
