How in the heck did KISS not film their 3 night stand in DEC 1977?!! Its criminal!
I bought kiss dynasty when it came out so that summer it’s all we played. Same with unmasked. Later hot in the shade was all I listened to for the summer of 1990, then revenge took it to another level in 92. We would hit the beach for a week in the summer listen to those albums when they came out and it would just carry out for the rest of the summer. Those songs would remind of the beach days. When revenge came out, I took revenge and made a kiss compilation of all the other stuff so we would have more variety. We had a 5 hr drive to the beach so we had plenty of listening time. We also listened to a lot of slaughter during that time. So this would make for (1 of) my summer song list 1. Deuce 2. I stole your love 3. Rock n roll all night live version 4. Love gun 5. Cold gin live version 6. I want you 7. Charisma 8. Ny groove 9. Forever 10. Unholy 11. I was made for loving you 12. Domino 13. Turn on the night 14. All American man - 4 th of July song 15. God gave rock n roll to u
Getaway!!!
Kiss is Just Not A Summer band in any respect no matter what song, Van Halen the ultimate Summer band, Poison, even Motley Crue, Kiss has never been a summer band to me.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻👍🏻🎸🔥🤘🏻
Turn on the night. Hard luck woman. Flaming Youth. Shandi. NY groove. Crazy nights. Let me go RnR. Heavens on fire. Iwmfly. Is that you + Dirty Livin
Crazy Nights & Unmasked are my go to Summer Holiday Albums…….. Great Episode Legends Keep Rockin”
Marcus Almighty belches far too often and butchers the English language like no one else.
It doesn't get much better than Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn. Great buy Mark!
Is it just me, or is Daniel’s audio extremely low?
Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed
I don't listen to Take it off any season😂😂😂
Every day I wake up and am in a different mood. Today it was Van Hagar 5150 on the way to and back from the gym. At the gym it was a variation of Sammy Hagar music with a few others thrown in. Tomorrow? Who knows.
Disclaimer : all opinions in this show are purely personal observations and not to be taken as fact😁😂
No kidding!
Great show idea
I often wonder how I would have reacted to Crazy Nights if I was still listening to KISS at the time. I stopped with Animalize and then didn’t start listening again to them till around ‘97 when I rediscovered them. At that point I caught up on what I had missed, including Crazy Nights. And I really liked it off the bat. I listened to Asylum and CN pretty much back to back so I sort of thought of them as sister albums that both felt very 80’s. But had I bought it when it came out I’m not sure what I would have thought.
My two things I collect nowadays is some nostalgic stuff like a poster that was in my room when I was a kid and books about Kiss! So really looking forward to your projects Julian!😊
That vocal was terrible 😮
I want the Julien pop up book!
What If? Gene and Ace go on tour together simply billed as Gene Simmons & Ace Frehley. They basically do the same Kiss setlists anyway. It would do way bigger business than they do separately.
Thank you Daniel for turning me onto Nestor. Great 80's style melodic rock. Greetings from sunny N.Ireland.
Peter Criss, in some way, was the real soul of the band. At least, pre 1978/79. Ace, on the other hand, couldn't care less about their February 18, 1977 Garden gig. NOT according to Bobby McAdams. Ace did the soundcheck earlier in the day, then he went home to Irvington, NY & basically started drinking. A LOT! When the evening approached, McAdams said Ace didn't even wanna go down to MSG. Ace was delaying more & more. He put on his makeup in the speedin' limo. His makeup looks sloppy on those pics. G & P were pissed off!
no new Bruce either
PAUL ..STILKL NO VOICE
how come no studio anything ...boom monster why was that the only bstudio ?
NOTHING NEW TODAY EITHER ...THEY GOT THE MONEY WE GOT C R A P
@59:42- BINGO! Lost opportunity- Ace Frehley Solo album live plus a few KISS era rarities he sprinkled in during shows then with the , then, new Ace Frehley band.....That would have been great.
Look up Shane Hawkins playing My Hero with the Foos 🔥🥁
Oasis all day long!
Hm.... I hink for me it will be 1995. I was in high school, I was already a fan of Deep Purple, Rainbow and Scorpions. I knew about Kiss but never heared them. Onece my friend gave me a "Greatest" cassette, and I really enjoyed it. Then I went to my local music shop and bought Asylum and Destroyer and this was a moment I fell in love... with Asylum. I liked Destroyer too, but Asylum I liked more. And then it started: me and my friend were buying different albums and copying them from each other. I bought Love Gun, Crazy Nights and Creatures'85 and he gave me Dynasty, HITS and Revenge. My favourites were Asylum, Creatures and HTS, then Crazy Nights, Love Gun and Destroyer, then Dynasty (I still mostly stand by this ranking). And then once upon a time my dad brought me Exposed video cassette... This was SO FCKN COOL! I loved everyting about it, especially those 3 Asylum videos! And maybe this is why I can't hate on Stanley - for me he will always be that funny guy from Exposed and that awsome over-the top frontman from Asylum music videos! "Stanley, what're you doing here? You look so cute!" "Edit her out!" Fckn masterpiece! We were watching it over and over with that same friend and thougt that we will film something similar when we become a famous band 😂 Ahhh... Nice memory trip!
Such a positive relaxed episode……….
TESLA REAL TO REEL - good cover of Seasons of Wither
Paul's promotion of the Avatars felt like the same line they got fed for Phantom - " A Hard Days Night meets Star Wars." And we all know how that came out. (; To answer Lonnie's question regarding the pause in product, I think allot of it has to do with not only the changing of ownership and determining new licensing agreements, but there might also be a waiting period to allow existing licensing agreements to expire. I also think there is that age old wisdom that making people wait for something might prove beneficial because it can help build back demand. Just pushing things out constantly has been part of KISS' problem the last two decades. A brief pause is actually welcomed from my perspective. And Paul can not directly speak to new material anymore because he no longer has ownership over any of it. Pophouse is calling the shots now and people need to remove this notion that Paul or Gene can make decisions or even make announcements without approval from Pophouse first. Lastly '77 will always be my favorite year. KISS were truly at the height of their creative juices and everything seem to be going their way.
Excellent observations, thanks for sharing those!
Well done in securing Tuomas Holopainen from Nightwish as a guest on your show this week. His monologue about being young in Sweden was fascinating, although I always thought Tuomas was Finnish 😁
id like to have Motley Crue 1987 Girls Girls Girls red stage replica with spinning drum kit
1980 by far. I was 10 and Kiss came to Norway for the first time.
For me 1978 - I'd been a fan since late ' 75 ( Alive was my introduction ) but ' 78 was when it exploded. I was finally making money ( age 15 ) via tape trading / garden cutting / car washing so could afford to fund my KISS obsession . All four solo albums , all the coloured solo singles , vinyl bootlegs were more available ( Takes Tokyo / Sneak Attack / KISS My Axe etc ). Plenty of KISS appearing in Sounds , record stores stocking KISS , books filtering in from the USA , Music Life specials. Simply the best year ever !!
Nice!
Best Year....1976 Destroyer The Originals Rock and Roll Over
Dysfunctional
I used to trade video tapes with collectors that would add glitches so your copy would be a little worse than theirs. 😡
(Fan Since 1975) For me my favorite era would have to be 1977. I purchased Love Gun with my own money. It was my favorite stage (Followed by the Spider, Monster stage). It was my favorite costumes. So much I could say. There are so many important years, such as 1975, 78, 79, 83, and I would be remiss not to mention 1996 and the Reunion. I vividly recall the disappointment for me in the stage itself. The show was solid and I was thrilled beyond measure to see the original 4 again performing. Yes, I did see them in the 1970's.
USA USA USA haha. Mark I love it
1986 - 89 were my Kiss Peak years……. Great Episode Guys .. Keep Rockin “ …….
I was at that KISS show in Houston in 1976, age 11. Thanks for explaining that the Summit had an in-house video system back then as I always find myself having to do the same thing! 😁
1977
Best year was 1980 , waiting 4 years to see a kiss show and the Australian build up to the tour from 1979 till November 1980 .. just magical
Always entertaining show 👍 1975 Kiss Alive that was the year that was magic just nothing before or after was the same / that is truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth🙏
Great, reflective choices here. There are many interesting choices and perspectives the viewers can share. Glad to hear guys who 'get it' conduct these conversations. I ended a romance with the most beautiful girl in Jr High in 1978 after she gave me the old '"Knights in..." acronym BS. A Kiss maniac since 1975 Dressed To Kill.....I still have to say, that 1977 was the best where it came together - music, Comic Book, Japan, big Tours, magazines, widescale Media coverage, and the older kids had not jumped ship yet.
Great job, Gents!
For me it started in 1979 but the best year was probably 1992
Fn great, I love your show
