I've found that I really like sitting while paddleboarding and using a kayak paddle instead. It's been a great new hobby for me & my dog to get into this year! Paddling on a lake is alot different than paddling around on springs ... fighting the wind can be challenging and especially if there's alot of boat traffic that causes wakes - both are challenges to adapt to. Always enjoy your videos!

Did you know there is a way to paddle on one side and go straight? It’s called the J stroke. Take your normal stroke then J out away from your boat. This will push you in a straight line. The hook out away from your boat off sets the straight stroke. I wish I could send a diagram. But works very well. I learned it on a canoe.

Well it looks like I get back on the road in a few weeks. Going to pick up a 2010 Toyota sienna tomorrow. Your van is my inspiration for mine. Will take a little while for the build, being a carpenter by trade helps. I have watched all or at least most of your videos. While my adventures won’t be to your level of fun ( old guy thing ) I’m looking forward to a little more comfortable van life. Thinking about an e-bike so I can keep up with the young bucks… lol

This is one of the most unique places I have ever hiked. I did it on Aug. 1st 1989. I remember the date because a few miles before Arco I ran into a snow storm. Complete with 2" of ground cover and plows working the highway. Back then you were allowed to explore the lava tubes also. I will revisit the area next spring. Heading for the UP via the Ohio valley this fall.

As solo traveller I'd remove that passenger seat completely: you would be amazed at the amount of room you'd free up.

You have awesome parents!! I think you should have a hiking group or meetup group in the future. I’ve been watching older, retired women doing that and I want to do that when I’m retired or older. It seems fun and safer. I’m becoming afraid to do things on my own the older I’m getting! But with your knowledge and sense of adventure, you’d be a great person to do that and so many women can learn from you!! And I almost forgot, you have good taste in beer ❤

There's a natural water slide at Tallulah Gorge State Park in Georgia! It's a trek to get there and you have to have a day permit to hike in the gorge, but it's a fun hike that's worth the effort. It's called Bridal Veil Falls or Sliding Rock!

Another fun adventure! I am not sure I would enjoy paddleboarding....but you do make it look fun!

I am preparing to do the trail next May.. And against the floor of traffic.. I've learned in my studies trying to prepare myself that most go northbound and end at katahdin.. and that katahdin is the hardest point of the journey.. i am not in to physical condition.. so i am not prepared for katahdin.. I've also learned that those who travel north take longer... Something about going south is like walking downhill lol 😅 ... But i get it... So my plan is to skip katahdin.. go at the rest of the trail southbound.. And then at the end of i have time hit katahdin or hit it the year after to get my certificate of completion.. .. i call this following my intuition.. Rather than the floor of traffick 😊

I watched your AT movie and heard you on Trail Tales. I just found out about the superior hiking trail and since I live in Iowa, I am hoping to hike this next year as a mini through hike. I’m not an experienced backpacker due to the geography of where I live, but I love walking on bike trails 40 to 50 miles per week. So I’m excited to do a little mini thru hike on the superior hiking trail next year. Thank you so much for your videos! You are so funny!

Ok hear me out. Cook a boneless, skinless chicken thigh, sliced up, in teriyaki sauce. Cook ramen, in a separate pan, just until barely soft. Drain and toss with with chicken, add as much tareiaki sauce as you like. It's so simple, cheap and very satisfying.

I'm headed out of central fl next week on a bicycle with my dog. If I don't I will lose my crap. You are where I need to be. So far from people and back in the woods. I'm a trip wire veteran. I got stuck in sand during my first boondocking experience. Luckily, I was only an hour away from home and a family member was able to come out and get me unstuck. It was pretty scary at first though. Glad you posted this video. I think it could help other people.
