    I just rewatched Om Shanti om after watching this video. Your theory makes so much sense and made this movie even more tragic. This movie holds up so well even in 2024! I also think Om Shanti Om says something about nepotism. Om Prakash was born into a poor junior artist family in his first life and he tries to become a star but never gets a chance. The same man then being reborn into a film family becomes a superstar. Just a little thing I picked up on but idk if it was intentional.

    I will say that Blair has more of a preppy vibe than actual old money, she played a lot with colors and old money outfits are extremely neutral when it comes to prints.

    I have to completely disagree Brats may have given Barbie a run for their money but when it comes down to it, Barbie has close to 50 years on them when it comes to creating a fashion dolls and to be honest I never really liked Bratz. When they first came out I honestly expected them to flop for the same reason Jem and the holograms did because most of their clothes are not interchangeable with the average fashion doll body, and also I was never a fan of the disproportionate big head thing, I also didn't like the fact that their faces were all the same sculpt and unrealistic. in fact that's what I love most about Barbie is her realism, so many of her faces and her friends face Sculpts are very realistic and beautiful. To me I prefer that. I didn't much like my scene Barbie for the same reason.....

    I think Blair and Nate scream old money/preppy all the time, even when they dress more "casual". Serena is the It Girl, she's a trendsetter, so I think that explains a lot of why she doesn't look old money or new money, she's supposed to be like Paris Hilton (idk) and appeal to different social classes. I would associate her a lot with boho chic as well, as she dresses casual with boho dresses and sandals a lot, colorful accessories, etc. I see Chuck as new money because he has this "try hard" aspect about him, he's always trying to look powerful and respectable, and it shows. He wants people to see how rich he is. I disagree that Nate is the It Boy, no one really cares about what he does, he's just very desired for being beautiful and having a lot of money. He dresses like every rich guy and doesn't stand out, he's not even as interesting as Serena.

    5:57 You're SERIOUSLY underestimating just HOW big Monster High was at the time. At the time they were first released, they were actively whooping Bratz' butt at the toy aisles and making Barbie VERY nervous, since they were starting to eclipse her as the best selling doll at Mattel. They were SO BIG that MGA even pulled a "My Scene" and tried ripping off the success of Monster High with a doll line called "Bratzillaz".

    Very good and honest video. I am torn between these twos since Barbie the Movie launched recently. Honestly I started falling in love with Barbies when I was three years old in 1963. I was absolutely crazy over their fashion of clothes. It was so detailed and feels very real clothing with original buttons, zippers, all that cute designs. I love to dressing them over and over … with many different imagination to play with. My mom used to tell me I am too old playing with dolls when I was well over teen years. Then many years later, I begin to see Barbie becoming like blah because the design of clothing didn’t appealed to me. Yes, Mattel was becoming lazy but I was unaware of other collecting line of collectibles Barbies do existed at that time. When I first saw Bratz at the store in fall of 2001…it spoked to me. I introduced my daughter into Bratz. I started collecting them in every lines til 2007 because it becomes too full and I had no more room for it since I was in boxed collector. So I rediscovered Bratz all over again in 2021..seeing other collectors how they displayed their doll collection out of these boxes. So I decided to unboxed all my Bratz dolls…rediscovered my nostalgia with them. Then I decided to start collecting vintage Barbies to remind of my childhood. Then I have completed collection of Barbies the Movie dolls and the cars, the games and magazines of them recently. I just am not crazy of these light plastic feel of them. But, my love for Bratz was so much stronger than Barbie’s because of their clothing designs still so much details in them. But with Barbies the Movie dolls, I begin to see that Mattel wasn’t lazy in their clothing outfits that it’s becoming better detailed on them, finally. Lol. I just begin to see the differences collection of Barbies and play line Barbie’s made for two different groups. I rediscovered my collection on reproductions of vintage Barbie’s…that I am now aiming for. But having the original vintage Barbie’s is very cool I own few of them in my collection also, but they are too pricey. Same with Bratz that are becoming vintage right now, too. So I still love them both. Sorry for long rant, I still love them both no matter what. Bratz still are my number one then Barbies are number two in play line but honestly those silkstone Barbies start taking over…love those heavy feel of them with vintage designs back in 60’s and 70’s in my collection right now, because I remember how it started my love of Barbies growing up. Everyone have their own nostalgia of their preferences of their dolls while they were growing up.

      Uh no they weren't. Bratz was inclusive from the very start. Barbie wasn't inclusive and when they were they still weren't because alot of the first Black Barbies still had white women features and hair! They didn't start introducing different races, hair textures or ethnic features until YEARS later! I see you keep commenting but you are loud and wrong. Lol. Bratz is very iconic as well as Barbie. Mattel needs companies like MGA because they keep Mattel in check. The truth is Mattel gets incredibly LAZY! Before the Barbie movie the Barbie brand was going downhill. The Barbie movie has saved Barbie because she was being beat by competitors greatly! They were not putting same the effort MGA was putting into their dolls. Yes, Barbie is an icon but so are other dolls such as Bratz. Also let's not forget when Mattel clearly tried to copy Bratz with their My Scene dolls. 😂 Let's also not forget how shady they were towards the creator of Bratz who used to work for Mattel. That's why they lost that lawsuit and had to recall those My Scene dolls! Giiiiirl please don't ever try to come for Bratz! Like, EVER! They are just as iconic as Barbie! FOH!

    • @niabelizaire3596

      @@moonlightj0y As a Barbie fan, I have to agree with you. The Barbie brand first started marketing its main blue-eyed blonde character as well as other white characters and it wasn't until the S.I.S. (So In Style) dolls and the 2016 Fashionista dolls that Barbie started making Black Barbie dolls with actual Afrocentric features and not the features of a white doll. Bratz wasn't my favorite fashion doll line and although I did own a couple of those dolls growing up (because I did own a lot of Barbies), one thing I will never take away from them is their diversity because they didn't just market the blue-eyed blonde Cloe, but they marketed a Black girl, an Asian girl and even a Hispanic girl. Barbie has been more inclusive over the past seven years and has gotten better with promoting diversity because Mattel realized that not every little girl that plays with their best-selling doll line is white with blue eyes and blonde hair.

    • @moonlightj0y
      @moonlightj0y Před 8 měsíci

      @@niabelizaire3596Very well said. I collect both Barbie and Bratz, as a Barbie lover myself I always state facts regardless. And the truth is Bratz have always been inclusive. They made a Falicia doll in 05 and she was the doll with the darkest complexion, which was such a huge deal back then. Mattel started stepping up their game when they realized how important it is to have diversity in dolls. My favorite Barbies are the late 90s-2010s barbies, because it was the years Mattel seemed to put the most effort in their doll line. I do appreciate Mattel's openness to making more inclusive dolls now because they were lacking. MGA kind of started paving the way of doll inclusiveness.

      @@charlottepoppy275barbie started in the 1950s when the majority of the population in America was white. The consensus in the USA was white at 90%, so of course the brand would have marketed towards that population. So comparing Bratz diverse release compared to Barbie is silly as there is a huge time gap between the two, and racial relations were different in 2001 compared to 1959. Last but not least, Christie had her own face mold since the 1960s
