    If my memory serves from reading about these locomotive, It didn't take long for them to be rebuilt. Like you said the motion covers were getting in the way of maintaining the joy valve gear and the slide bars, so it was taken away. The Cowling around the cab was removed as it trapped smoke and restricted the drivers view. The Coal banker at the back of the cab was too small so crews used it to hold tools and so coal bunkers were built into the pannier tanks. And later the cab was extended at the rear to cover the old coal bunker. But in service they were reliable engines and the three of them and Lyn worked well on the line.

    To be fair, I think the issue is more that long bogie coaches don't like tight curves than the loco overhang. You could put a wire between the buffers of the coach which would prevent bufferlock, and being on a coach with corridor connections it would be less visible.

    • @digitalcareline
      @digitalcareline Před 2 měsíci

      This is difficult to do in snippets. For British OO Train Tech make a range of DCC Colour signals that would be simple to control from the Lenz system or from software. The BM3 works with several German signal makes but I am unaware of a UK signal that conforms with the expected standard - The BM3 also ties you to ABC braking using the locomotive decoders. Most software can do the same without using the ABC system. From the information I have you just want a DCC decoder to give your signals an accessory address then Traincontroller software can switch the signal as part of your route

I had seen the older variants and wondered what these new versions would incorporate. That runs beautifully and the cab lighting matched with the cream interior is superb. The large running lights are excellent not least how they change colour by direction. Thanks for confirming the body is plastic and I see on your website description that the running plate is metal, very nice. Can't believe that Hornby got that wrong on their website - not. They really do need a good technical writer for their website. In fact I am so taken with this model, I have also ordered the in-preservation version too as there are sufficient differences ie oil tender, boxpok wheels and immense detailing that it is worth it. PS just one suggestion, if you could get a stand for the camera that would be a big improvement to remove the wobby images. Cheers

    • @digitalcareline

      The Piko Br243 model is more recent so benefits from features that have been added using the PluX22 interface - the Roco models have fewer lighting features as they were designed when headlights and tail lights were the expected standard. Piko also supply their models with all handrails and wipers fitted - Roco often leave parts to be fitted by the customer which can be fiddly. In terms of paint, sound and drive they are both good so it comes down to personal choice

    Hello there, can You make a video of programming in CV (menu button 5) with button PROG (3) ? For example programming a locomotive (new address, adding functions etc...). It could be a big help, just because every videos of the Smartcontrol wlan are in german. Thank You, Best regards :)

      Adding locos are here: www.aandhmodels.co.uk/smartcontroller-part-11-12-first-drives-2091-c.asp Flim 1.2 looks at general CV programming on the programming track - for beginners to the hobby the factory settings on DCC models are pretty good - we want to keep the hobby open and going into huge depth on customization is a bit like Volkswagen delivering a car and telling the owner to map the engine before driving it. I do go into much more detail in my DCC help pages www.aandhmodels.co.uk/dcc-help-pages-897-c.asp I do not want to scare people of by making programming look like it is mandatory

    I love the model cars, items, tanks etc. The Marklin DRG flats are heavier and better through switches.

      Possibly on 3- rail track - a whole different wheel profile

      They still haven't gone for full multi-colour cabs like other manufacturers, to be fair you really have to look to notice

    Stunning....what a shame the kitchen windows are frosted bizarre if there are details installed.. For me these models beat even Roco just for the details alone...

      Accuracy vs detail in this case - I guess when they did the CAD work they hadn't realised it would be behind frosted windows - its a cool surprise when you open it.
