Beautiful work. The university I studied at has a library with similar architecture from the same era, but not as big and extravagant as the one in Toronto. I should take some photos there anyway... been kinda wanting to do that, but I guess I’ve always been worried about what people think (same with street photography). I should just risk getting kicked out! =) ...like the one time at a grocery store, where I came in and wanted to take a mirror selfie while I was walking in with a group of friends. Lady from a counter yelled at me and got all worked up. She was old enough to have used film cameras herself, but she didn’t care that no one would ever commit espionage on their flippin grocery store with a 70’s SLR...

I think you're misunderstanding the point of the liminal space trend and why it's shot/portrayed how you described.

i think you missed the point of what makes liminal photography what it is. Underexposed and blurry is so prevalent in the genre because it introduces an eerie feeling that you can't quite make out what you're looking at and makes for an abstract expression or feeling. what you took is just typical architectural photography that while nice does not have that liminal feel. i wish you understood the art more and did your research but nice photos anyways.

Interesting, I've shot in a library at the time I was too naive, so I asked a librarian for permission. If you're going to shoot a film camera, I don't see the problem of just asking...

Its not VHS it's Digital8. Also isn't the entire point of carrying those massive camcorders around to get the analog look of the tape? (not that youd get it with a digital camcorder)

Just don't. These shitty things will discard one of the 2 fields into a 240p frame, which will ruin the quality of your video. I've also noticed that it's stretched into a 3:2 aspect ratio, so you should correct it to a 4:3 ratio by setting the pixel aspect ratio to around 0.8889 or 1.1853. Maybe you should either just record onto tape or get a capture card that inputs through FireWire.

I just got this camera lol… I’m the one who said ima get it before the prices go up lol. But I do have a question about shooting cars. I got a RB and just started shooting. I noticed how most ppl use a polarizer when shooting cars but I don’t see anybody with film using one. Do u use one when using your medium format? Would it matter on film? And if u do.. do you expose for a higher exposure when metering if using a polarizer?

lool it was so funny watching these camera on ebay start to disappear and go up on price since you made the video. I was able to get my hands on one; and really excited. I almost bought a minilux but just couldn't get myself to buy it with that price. Your video and specially comparison with the T2 shots were convincing. Excited to see the results from my shots

Does this apply to camcorders that the LCD screen is not functional anymore but everything works? I have a Sony HVR A1n camcorder from 2005, it records MiniDV as well
