The machine is big enough for one to feel comfortable, and you could see both ends of the machine and notice that it's not that lengthy. Even if the fear is there, let it be, my advice is to let whatever comes into surface, without resistance , or forcing to feel good, you will naturally feel good, your body is intelligent enough to self regulate itself. Always remember the internal strength that each and every one of you has. We are powerful beyond measure, beyond measure 🤍 and through such experience, we are then able to truly feel our strength and resilience

why saturation band is placed so closed to spine it is darkening the disc it should be away from disc to avoid berating artifacts and will be better in my opinion

It's a peice of cake to me the noise was loud from the machine, but you can ask for headphones before the exam you just have to be still durning the MRI so you won't have to worry about getting it done over again

Pls like this comment to get it on the top of the comments for everyone to read coz its important. I suggest you get used to that knee position first before getting an mri. I normally rest my knee when lying down elevated and a little sidewards(45°) but during mri you need to position it elevated and 90° straight. Mine failed 2 times today coz my knee was not comfortable to that position. It gets stiff after 5 minutes and started twitching and shaking. They told me that I will have to pay again after the 3rd try coz the time it will take for the exam was not enough anymore and theres the next patient scheduled already. I didnt try the 3rd time coz I know I really cant do it. Good thing I get a refund. They suggested too that I take the exam while sleeping but it cost double the price, its ridiculous. I will take the exam again next month after getting comfortable on that knee position.

5:30 In PD fat saturated axial image: fluids (infections, bone edema) appear bright while fat appears dark. PD fat sat sequences are v. useful for visualizing cartilage, ligaments & bony edema. 5:51 PD fat saturated coronal image: clearly see the meniscal cartilages, ACL & PCL. It is excellent for meniscal tears. 6:09 Lastly, review the sagittal images: All of them allow menisci, ACL & PCL, tears and insufficiencies. 6:21 This is a star? sagittal image: useful for highlighting infections and bony edema. 6:30 A T1 sagittal: fluids dark, fat bright. Dx cystic and blood components where blood is bright. 6:47 T2* or T2 gradient echo sagittal: fluid bright, muscles gray. Very useful for visualizing menisci, ACL & PCL.

I had an MRI today. I have some bulging disks and dehydrated disks somewhere in my lower back. It’s interesting but quite annoying. It was my second time doing one, and I had completely forgotten what it was like. It’s quite claustrophobic and I ended up taking almost everything off just in case my outfit had metal in it. It’s very noisy too. I can’t promise you you’ll sleep through it. But a tiny tip from me is to think about other things and PLEASE DONT MOVE SO MUCH!!! Also don’t wear anything metal because it’s a big magnet. If you forgot to take off any body piercings you may have, good luck trying to get out of there.

I went twice to do head mri and could not do it after they put that head mask on top of your head, I get panic attack and nothing can help, then my DR prescribed Diazepam 5mg 2 tablets 1 30 min before the procedure and one just the before the procedure, I never took one and was scared of the reaction of it, so i asked my friend to go with me, to all who are scared make sure you ask the mri place if your friend can be in the room with you, because after i took valium, the radiologist told me if you want your friend to be in the room with you, she can, i was like wow, if i would know i would not even take the medication, then she put me in and put that head mask on top, I asked if she has mirror to attach to it, this way you can see all outside the machine, i was not scared anymore because i could see my friend sitting in the room and the window where radiologist seat, but as soon as she pulled me inside of machine in less than a few minutes i was knocked out from valium, i slept then she pulled me back in to put hte contrast but i did not care cause i wanted to continue to sleep, and then she pulled me and told me its over, it seemed like it took 5 minutes and i even asked my friend did you see her putting contrast cause i did not feel and my friend said yes. The reason i wrote so much, its to to help someone like me, i dont think theres a person more claustrophobic than me, but ive done mri before and had no issue, the issue was the head mask locked and you feel like if you press that ball an they cant hear you, thats it)) but when you have someone in the room with you its not scary. so just ask them to attach mirror to that mask and if i knew they would let my friend inside the room i would not even take valium but all together it helped. Hope it helps, cause I read so many reviews to easy my fear, hopefully it will help someone.

I am scheduled for a brain MRI next month to keep check on a hemangioma that was found on an ear CT scan last year (small and very slow-growing, so no need for removal). I've heard there are some special glasses that you can wear that give you an "alternate view" of your surroundings. Hoping that Duke Medical Center has them. Also, I'm not sure about lying flat on my back. I broke my coccyx twice many years ago and have chronic low back pain. Lying on my back is extremely uncomfortable.

I had an open MRI brain scan with and without contrast done today and was highly anxious about it after reading all the bad comments. I asked the techs to cover my eyes before they put the head cage on and before they put me in scanner as I did NOT want to have claustrophobia to kick in. Worked well for me and I was able to just deep breath and relax. I asked my doctor for some meds and they calmed me down so much after 10 minutes in the machine I actually fell asleep. Total time was approximately 30 min. Don’t look forward if I ever have to do it again but todays experience has taken the fear out of me. 😊
