The Defiant in HD is so hot.

This gave me goosebumps. The brilliant colors, the sharpness, the focus. Watching the engineers welding and repairing DS9 (wow)! Then, when you think it just can’t get any better, you see the mighty defiant come flying through with her underbelly showing off all the magnificent features that we have never seen with this detail before. And then finally, the wormhole wow simply glorious. Awesome job!

Where is the rest of the fight?

The turning point in the DS9 series, and maybe in the entire Star Trek universe. I don't think that's an overstatement.

Soooo, what's Julian doing in the back there by the Captain's chair?

Two things about this sequence that I love, and that make me howl with laughter each time I watch it: Firstly, the opening phaser salvos from the Defiant successfully disable the engines on one of the Birds of Prey. Moments later, with Worf now at tactical, he deems that strategy to not be effective, so Captain Sisko allows him to target at his discretion. What results? After half a second, he's blown the other Bird of Prey's port wing off, and then continues for another half second to completely destroy it. Basically, it just makes me laugh how crippling one of them instantly isn't effective enough for Worf, even though it's like a shotgun going up against a few slingshots! 😆 Secondly, I love how Dukat is one of the first people beamed aboard the Defiant, even though half of the Detapa Council members are still onboard the disabled ship. 🤣 The details in this show are exquisite, and it's lovely how they don't make a big deal in regards to pointing them out - they're right there in front of you, if you're paying enough attention.

This is just how the Galaxy Class always should have been portrayed. An enourmous vessel projecting power and majestic graze, but once provoked able to casually slap aside most foes with blunt force.

Some of the best effects work ever made on a TV-Budget.

You know what would've been icing on the cake? If the Defiant squeezed through a narrow opening (like the Millennium Falcon in the Asteroid Field) to escape Jem'Hadar ships.

Janeway always trying anything she can to keep her crew in the Delta Quadrant.

Not seen in this video, but later in the battle if you watch the Galaxy-Class ships, they swing around and are charging in for a second run like "that was fun, now let's mop this enemy fleet up from behind and bring this to a proper end". Also, Starfleet was very lucky to have the Galaxy-Class fully put into service with multiple ships when the Dominion War broke out. All the "glitches" were sorted out and the ships were at full capacity to become the Federations choice of Dreadnoughts of this conflict.

I have a question. Given A.I. can generate videos from text these days, why can't A.I. just sample the original episodes and re-render them in 4K? Wouldn't that be easier than remastering the original 720p?

This should be real and for every tv show. I fucking hate HD tv and I'm sick of the way it looks. Particularly for stuff that was never intended to be seen on anything other than the standard 4:3 SD format. I'm sorry, but CRTs look so much better, way nicer colors. Too much visual clarity is a bad thing, not a good thing.

The upscaling looks fantastic! Like *echohunter4199* pointed out, there isn't any sound. Even so, is there a reason an HD version wasn't released by the studios?
