    it is not dangerous at all, it is like any other big city in europe, if we talk about pickpocketing, street thefts etc. cities like paris or rome could be more dangerous in this sense. if we talk about high-level crime, in this case it is the most dangerous city in europe, but the so-called camorra has nothing to do with the millions of tourists who visit naples. it operates at higher levels.

    ...bok, draga moja Olive (thats at least what AI tells me to use for greeting you in Croatian) 😄 ...day 2 of Zadar, this time from the sea's view... not much of a fan of speed boats, but this one seems to be a fairly tame one 🚤 ... good on you, that you took a dive into that alluring & crystal clear water 💦 and thanks to Matt, getting more into rolling the 🎥, so we could enjoy seeing you even more fully 💃 I liked the intro 🎶...very Greek, no surprise as that huge peninsula leads eventually to that country at the south end... and my fav 🎵was, when you entered Galevac, the monastery island... again I felt so relaxed with the number of people around (your boat trip only had 5!!), which makes me aware of how much I avoid destinations, that seem to be overrun by 😎😎😎 great, that you stayed for 2 days, and split them up the way you did - that rounded up that trip so beautifully and perfectly... 🌄😊🌅

      @oliviaelenat Před 6 dny

      Thank you! 😊 Haha, "draga moja" in Romanian is "draga mea." 😄 I'm not a fan of speed boats myself unless they stop on small islands, beaches, etc. If their purpose is only to be on the boat or swim, it's not my favorite activity. 😁 I'm the same about touristy places. I’d have to really want to see a place to endure or contribute to the crowds and queues, and even then, I’d try to go at 7 AM. 😆 After the Camino, I went to Portugal for a few days and visited Sintra. I wanted to film my experience and was so excited to see those castles, but it was absolutely crazy packed, and I gave up filming. It felt like I was going to a concert... So I'm on a mission to find less touristy places that are worth the visit! 🌊🏝📸😄

    OMG Olive 🫒 - watching this tour through Zadar was such a treat - I'm already completely in love with the town! I have so much to say!! 🤣 Let me start at the beginning: your airb&b looks outstanding... I don't even dare to ask about the price... Matt seems to have the perfect job for travelling in style with a reasonable budget and enjoy luxury accommodation! PS. so nice to see him just randomly for a bit - very satisfying... 😎 the town is very pleasant - not over-sophisticated, rather simple and beautiful in its charm; and not over-touristy & over-crowded! I felt relaxed looking around... even the pavements looked comfortable to walk on... the museum of illusions was sweetly filmed and fun to watch! ...really nice how you show and describe the food, and how much you enjoy it... the black risotto seems to be a 'must'. (I'll remember that, if I ever visit!).🥘🥫 I again and again was aware of the ambient music, that you were underlying the footage with - so well done, Olive - its really worthwhile to mention!! 🎶🎵 The atmosphere at the sea was gorgeous, and even with more people there, it still felt relaxed - a perfect holiday destination to me! And when the sun started to go down and turn into night it felt dreamlike and magical... 🌇🌅🌉 I've watched your journey of you-tubing now from your first day on the 'frances', and I can see how you improve and learn, feel more and more comfortable... the filming gets better and better... this video deserves instead of a 1.000, rather 100.000 watchers, and it will come, Olive... it will come, just continue like this... I'm always so delighted, when I see a new video of yours showing up! Looking now forward to day 2 in Zadar! 👍😺🌞💛

      Thank you so much, once again, for such a lovely comment! 😊 The Airbnb was actually discounted to 100 euros/night (fees included) when we booked it, so it was a pretty good deal! 😁 Matt does indeed have the perfect job for traveling, and it's so amazing that we sometimes get to enjoy a more luxurious side of travel. ✈🌟 I agree, the town didn't feel touristy at all, and you described it perfectly! And the black risotto really is a must! 🍲 Thank you so much! 🎶 I do think music is so important when trying to show or recreate the right atmosphere. Sometimes I look at the footage, and in my head, I have a very clear idea of what the images should sound like, and then spend so much time trying to find something that matches that. 😂 Zadar was indeed a great destination! There are also quite a few day trips available, so I wish we had stayed a bit longer to visit more of the surrounding areas. I'd love to explore more of Croatia on a road trip at some point. 🚗 Thank you so much for your supportive words, they really mean a lot to hear! ❤ Most people, including myself before starting the channel, watch videos from the 'shadows' without interacting, which is completely understandable. However, when you're on the creator's side of CZcams, it always leaves you wondering: Was this good? Was it really bad? Did I say something wrong? Did people enjoy watching? 💭 It's like you're exposed to so many opinions without knowing who's out there watching and what they think. And then there are the people who do interact, share their thoughts, and are always there, and I had no idea what a difference it makes for someone, especially new to CZcams! 😊 Every time I read all the nice comments, it reminds me why I love CZcams and the community it can create, and why I wanted to start a channel in the first place. So thank you so much for showing your support since day one! 💚🌄🏞🏝

      Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed the video! 😊 Regarding prices, the restaurants were a bit more expensive than I had expected. For example, the risotto was 17-19 euros and the beef with gnocchi was 25 euros; the price range for a main course in a well-rated restaurant was between 17 and 30 euros. On the other hand, accommodation was more affordable compared to other places. Airbnbs offered better value than hotels, and our flat was discounted to 100 euros/night (fees included) at the time of booking (there were cheaper options available too). 🏠

I would enjoy a brief inclusion of your companions and interactions, if they’re willing. Your mom on the top of the White Cross Trail would have been fun for us to experience along with her. I was holding tight to my chair! Your perspective of the Communist Era is interesting. Born afterwards yet living amidst its monuments and ruins. That holds true to the imperial histories of Romania. Living in the western 🇺🇸, there is little that is more than 100-150 years old. Speaking of years … may I say you belie your age. I placed you at 25-27, not mid 30s. Looking very good, Olive. Cheers!

    dear Olive 🫒 this was done very beautifully, sensitively and honestly, how you lead us through a place, that has an impressive & significant past, with so much Roman influence (as so many places have all over Europe), and then got earmarked by the communist area, with its chicken coop-ish hotels and infrastructure... a melancholic 'fog-of-history' lying over all of it... it made me feel very controversial emotions.. there is sadness, yes, but also almost a relief, that it will not so easily be swallowed by the devastating mass tourism, that hijacks and destroys so many cultural habitats all over Europe and the Mediterranean... ...its again an 'Olive-solo', as your other clips also mostly are... I would have loved to see your mother at least briefly (as well as your boyfriend in Italy)... but I also highly respect the protective veil, which hides them... maybe they don't want to be shown... or is it your preventive choice? Which-ever - its of course completely okay! It just doesn't show you much in the social context, that you were probably experiencing on those trips... I have my own challenges with it, as I work with a lot of visitors of the eco-community, where I live, and privacy protection is so omnipresent, and law-enforced (of course sadly for good reasons in our iNet swamped and infiltrated lives), that I don't publish any photos anymore, that show me with visitors... it all feels a bit sad and... paranoid... those are the parameters of our world in the 21st century... however: I do love and value deeply your videos, Olive, and your showing/exposing of yourself in it, and your feelings about what you experience... thank you for that... 💖😼

      Dear Jörn, Thank you so much for your thoughtful reflections! 😊 Your comment made me realise something interesting. I initially focused on the nostalgia and sadness because the history is so palpable... you can see it everywhere, and it's hard not to think about it. However, your perspective also made me appreciate how peaceful and untouched by mass tourism the place has become. 🌿 Romania is one of the few countries without overwhelming tourism, and I need to appreciate that more often. You can have entire trails to yourself, wild camp, and generally enjoy a peaceful time in nature. 🌲🏕 As for my mom and boyfriend, my mom really didn't want to be in the video, so I respected her wishes. My boyfriend also preferred not to be in the videos, although he's a bit more open to it than her. I do understand the social interaction aspect, and I agree it would be nice to include that in my videos. In the future, I would love to share people’s stories as well, not just the stories of places, and when opportunities come along, I will definitely include that. 😊 I agree that the whole issue of privacy protection is a bit sad.. it seems like people interpret it differently. On one hand, sharing moments and stories can be empowering... it provides a platform for expression, connection, and broadening horizons beyond our immediate environment. However, it also exposes people to criticism, judgement, and sometimes safety concerns, and can also be too much of a distraction from their present reality. I see both perspectives, though I relate more to the first one. 😊 I'm really hoping this channel will grow enough to give me the freedom to explore and share much more in the future, as I'm currently a bit restricted in terms of time and budget. But there are always ways around it, and I am really grateful for that! 🌍✈ Thank you so much for your kind words and continuous support! 💛🌄🌞

      @@oliviaelenat ...happy to hear your inspiration, Olive 🫒🌟🤩 ...especially about your plans to interview people in the future and share their stories - I think that can be very exciting and enriching! I have to think back immediately to your walks... the Via Transilvanica can certainly do with some more exposure to interested folks, and B&Bs as well as any related businesses on the way might be quite happy about that opportunity to share about their lives and vision for 'the via'. 😄 But also, if you at some point walk another camino (maybe with a better weather window?!), that could be a good addition! Rave on, Olive! 🧡🚶🌄🎤😎

    woowee, Olive 🫒😎🌄 that was a cinematic experience, and I think I've never seen you that happy before😄... Naples - why have I never been visiting you??!? ...it all looked exceptional interesting and amazing, beyond what one might expect from that buzzing city... so much variety of neighbourhoods, the caverns were awesome... that car-less broadway with the sunset views 🌇; the star-shaped castle; best food ever... and the melon-something drink🍹(forgot the name) surely contributed to get the euphoria sky-rocketing... even the risk of being run over by a 🛵seems to be a petty worry in the face of such exuberance... ...bella Italia... so much goodness... 🌞🌵🍷🍕💖🌋🌴 PS. almost forgot: your filming was exceptional good, really captured it all... and also the accompanying music worked so well! 👍💖

      Thank you so much! 💛🍋 Naples really was a pleasant surprise with a lot to offer, and I didn't even get to visit the surrounding areas: Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento 🏛🏺🌊... so much to do in the area! It generally had such a great atmosphere and was so different from everything else I've seen in Italy! 😊 PS: The drink was meloncello 🍈, the melon version of limoncello. 😄

    Olive, cometes una injusticia en tu vídeo del Camino. De los 17 minutos del mismo dedicas solo 2 minutos (!) al Camino por Galicia, que es la parte más importante (Santiago de Compostela) y hermosa del mismo. Galicia no se merecía eso.

    • @oliviaelenat
      @oliviaelenat Před měsícem

      Lamento que sientas que no le di suficiente atención a Galicia. Simplemente compartí donde pasé más tiempo y lo que más me llamó la atención, sin ninguna mala intención. Me hubiera gustado tener más tiempo en el Camino para hacer justicia a cada lugar, pero en mi experiencia, mi parte favorita fue desde Foncebadón hasta O Cebreiro y quería compartir mi preferencia personal. 😊

    Hi Olive, your video is very lovely and informative , however I have one question. is it very crowded even for getting place in restaurants? Me and husband are planning to visit with 10 month old in September. Please let me know.

    • @oliviaelenat
      @oliviaelenat Před měsícem

      Thank you! 😊 In my experience, only the more well-known or highly rated restaurants tend to get crowded. If you're flexible and don't have a specific place in mind, you should be able to find available spots without needing to pre-book. However, if you prefer to research and visit highly recommended restaurants, I would advise making a reservation just to be safe. Wishing you a lovely trip with your little one in September! 🏛🍝

    ...bella Olive👩‍🚒in bella Roma🏛 - a happy episode, that indeed feels relaxed in the middle of a metropolitan city... with 'only' a population of 2.58 million, while Berlin, where I lived for some years, has about 3.58 million... its maybe because Rome is of such a historic significance, that its reputation is larger than its population... 🧑‍🤝‍🧑✝ ...tiramisu & pasta for breakfast - Italian style... admit it: you left your bicchiere di vino rosso🍷out of the clip ☺ ...during your walk through the urban districts, that ooze out ancient history at every street corner, I reflected on the fact, that in terms of architecture, that we wanna see, its all about the past... American friends of mine pointed that out, whenever they visit Europe: its so old, and 'a bit stuck in it'... I don't know if thats fair to say, however I have so much love and romantic, nostalgic feelings to it, that I wouldn't want to miss it... 🌞⛪🌴🗼🧡

    • @oliviaelenat
      @oliviaelenat Před měsícem

      Thank you! 😁 That's interesting about the population, and you're right, Rome's reputation certainly exceeds its size! 😄🏙 Haha, I have to admit, the discovery of this trip was meloncello in Naples! 🍹😋 I've never really reflected on that.. I do find it fascinating to visit places just as they were so long ago, like stepping back in time. It's like nostalgia for somewhere I haven't even been before. But aside from that, architecture from the past offers so much more than anything we build today. 🏛🏰

    Presenting a menu at the door in that state, oh dear😮 I think it's the same one since it opened😂. The food standards in Italy have significantly dropped since the lockdown, food quality down, portions much smaller, prices double. Unfortunately it's all about profit.

    Hi Olive, I have done that section three times and stayed in the same Albergue as you, and I am impressed by your distance and your time to complete, because that is tough with the two hills to climb on a 30 km walk and finishing up hill to the Albergue, well done, plus the downhill section of the first hill, can be quite treacherous with all of the rocks, many people damage their ankles there. The only problem I had with the Albergue was the clock bell in the church opposite ringing all the way through the night on the quarter, ear plugs highly recommended 😂 The people who ran it were lovely and the food was good too.

    • @oliviaelenat
      @oliviaelenat Před měsícem

      Thank you so much! 😊 I also found the downhill quite difficult for my knees, more challenging than the uphill. And yes, I remember that church bell! 😂 I think it stopped around 11 or midnight and started again early in the morning. Definitely not what tired pilgrims need! 😅

    the worst restaurant is for me the best restaurant in Rome. I really don't understand the people´s reviews. Yes, he might be extra charging,... he might be con artist or whatever. but you are in Rome. I think there is the best Carbonara ever what I ever ate in Rome. and believe me I tried a lots of them. when I am in Rome, the restaurant is a must. :) but I guess, its depending on the taste... Ps.: lot of people forget, that they are in Rome. Can't wait to be everything for free. :)

Involving … especially the tension in the second restaurant: would they cheat you? would the food be inedible? would a truck run into you out on the sidewalk?
