Isle of Man Part Three - Electric Trams and Steam Railways
In the last of our Isle of Man videos, we travel by electric tram to Laxey and then on the mountain railway to the stop of Snaefell, the highest mountain on the island. Returning to Laxey we visit the largest surviving working waterwheel in the world. Then we go by steam train to Port Erin and walk up to Cregneash, a living museum of Manx farming and crofting in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

      Many thanks for this. If walking back to Grasmere you could go round the south side of Rydal Water and then round Grasmere - easy paths. Or alternatively there is a regular bus service from Rydal to Grasmere.

    There are some people's videos which I know I safely Like before I even what them. I loved the trip to the top of Snaefel - "As you can see, it's freezing cold and you can't see a thing." Beautifully filmed and presented, as usual.

    Thank you for this great video, with all the historical facts. My mother is from Islay, but she left in 1954 to do her training as a nurse. Still have relatives there, we went there on holiday every year until I was 15 in the 1970's. Pleased to say it looks exactly the same.

    Just outside Pembridge if you know where to go theres the most magical blue belle wood , i used to love playing in there as a small boy back in the early 1970s , i think i still have a cousin living in the village but most people i knew are now long passed

    The good lady & I have made three day trips to Fetlar each time in June. Apart from the wind it’s quite pleasant & restful. But the ferry crossings will take quite a lump out of your day.

    My grandfather left Shetland in the 1890's, while in his late teens to become a seafarer. He would eventually settle in Sydney, Australia. I have walked Lerwick's streets, wondering if we might have shared a particular place, albeit separated by a century.

      Thanks for this. I'm not sure where you can buy the CD 'The Authentic Sound of Shetland' from which the music in the Unst videos is taken, but I was given my copy at the Tourist Information Centre in Lerwick. The poem 'Relax sit here a peerie while' is inscribed on the bench overlooking Skaw Bay - I don't know who the author is.

    I have actually been to see the Island of Seil, & enjoyed every minute of this great Island , but that was years ago, no doubt there have big changes there over the years, l would love to go back sometime as the Island holds a big draw for me, so a big thank you for the person who made this great video of all time.

    We holiday for 2wks every year to lochinver, Achmelvich beach and Clachtoll are fab beaches. Been coming here since I was little. Pure magic!!
