agreed. basically have to go full custom exhaust to get it as high up as i can and even still it scrapes every so often

Now that is my kind of car. Something that nobody likes (cheap to buy) with manual everything instead of an electrical nightmare. Manual locks, crank windows and 14 inch wheels that you can find tossed at the end of someones driveway for free. No electronically controlled anything that will get you from point A to point B. People make such a big deal about horsepower when it's all about power to weight ratios and gearing. What good is that 400 HP truck if it's sitting in traffic behind a smart car on the way to work with an empty bed and one driver? Most people laugh at the smart car while I laugh at how ridiculous the guy in the truck or SUV looks.

If it’s manual you need to clutch kick more, if it’s automatic then you need more power, and it’s like a pendulum so if you whip it one way it will come back the other way

What kind of coil overs and angle kit are you running?

OH, pro tip for the steering angle. Apparently, there are sleeves or pucks or whatever in the factory steering rack that you can shorten or remove to get more travel. Chris Fix did that to his SN95 and I believe he gained 10-12 degrees of steering angle, getting it overall into the low-to-mid 40-degree range.

BTW you don't need to LS swap it. Twisted Wedge 2V heads and a David Vizard spec cam will get you at or above 400whp. Could push it even higher with a high-compression build and some port-biasing work (like what David does) to the twisted wedge heads. As far as the exhaust issue, well, I assume part of the problem is that the driveshaft has to have a travel distance due to live axle problems. So a "fix" that I theorize might be a bit easier than a full IRS conversion (especially IRS with GOOD geometry and strength, quite unlike the Cobra IRS) would be to build and convert the car to a De-Dion axle with a Satchell Link. Bonus points if you do it with a Corvette-style rear-CV transaxle and use inboard brakes, too.

So im a beginner drifter who has no experience in drifting and my first drift car is a 91 foxbody gt. It does not have the stock 5.0. Ive done a 2011 crown vic 4.6 swap and a t45 trans. Im on coils, but i have not yet touched the steering angle on the car? Should i get seat time before getting an angle kit?

Oh yeah and the number 1 reason to drift a stang is KBD"S new body kit!!! whattttt looks PERFECT for this chassis!

I think carbed ls makes sense if you already have a good carb, get a good deal on a carbed intake and msd. which is my situation. But I recently checked prices and the msd is $504 and the edelbrock intake performer rpm is $400! and if you don't have a carb this still gets pretty expensive. I did notice the ebay has decent looking china intakes for a great price now. with that said stock truck efi looks like hot garbage and I don't think it will out perform a good carb and msd

I believe an LS swap in a non GM vehicle only makes sense if you want to have around 1000 boosted hp, like a drag car, mud truck, etc. Yes there's a ton of aftermarket support for the LS engine family, but anything aftermarket is only going to raise the cost of any build. My example is to seriously take a look at all of the "extras" you'll need in order to have a completed project. The engine itself (depending on where you live) may cost a few hundred to a thousand+. Then there's the ECM, wiring harness, fuel pump, radiator, engine mounts/ adapters, headers, make the gauges work, speedo, tach, temp, oil pres, etc. Now there's the transmission to figure out, assuming most will opt for a GM tran's, yet another expense. I think a lot of guys will want to go thru a used engine and at least put new bearings, rings, and gaskets in, let alone the same for a used tran's. Needing to spend who knows how many thousands of $$$ on the swap, how much time & headache it'll take, the LS is not looking so good to me anymore. I know other engines that can easily handle 550+ hp (which is more than enough for a fun street car) that are easy and more affordable to mod up. Not putting down the LS swap, but all of the "extras" no one takes into consideration really makes it not worth it to me. There are a lot of mods for any brand out there. My opinion is to stick with what you've got and go from there with performance hop ups.

I picked up a shitbox 98 gt vert to use as a drift car, havent gotten to really do anything to it yet as other projects are ahead of it , but my main things I hate are the angle, and the 4.6, and the fact its a vert so I have to buy a cage

My foxbody has factory 5 lug wheels and discs all the way around too. Also is turbocharged.

Very nice video, one quick question more on the boring side, how do you go about insuring this this, is it a non-op trailer only drift car, do you have special low mileage insurance, rates on these old stangs is crazy, i just wanna know if there's a way around it, as it is a failing point for me
