I’m confused. How can you play the same chords with totally different tunings?

Millar ukes I’ve noticed have like a harp like ethereal tone to them that just draws me in.

To err is to be human, but obviously it was Alex's fault here! Lovely sounding Uke' as well!

The experience of having one in one's own hands, the haptic touch and feel, the details of the form, the ease of playability, the whole multisensory experience ... seems to me more important than the sound alone. The sound: When I play in my bedroom or in the kitchen or the livingroom or the balkony or sitting under a tree ... these circumstances influence the sound much more than what I can detect as differences in your sound samples. The instrument as a whole is "my pride and joy". Becoming a better player, depends on having an instrument which I love to grab and play on. As I get better, the saying "the sound is in the fingers" will show its truth. I love to go to specialized instrument shops just to adore the beauty and perfections of those instruments on display. (Even instruments which I do not play and do not intend to learn.) Many I cannot afford. And the ones which I can afford and are suitable for my developping level of playing: I already have what I need. Some day I will fall in love with a new instrument. I will know it, if I have it in my hands and can admire it with all my senses close-up: it will feel (and sound) irresistible!

I appreciate your reviews of all these instruments. That being said, I would have liked you to explore the higher end of the fretboard… after all, that is, I assume, why one would be looking at a cutaway instrument. Thanks.

It doesn't sound like a budget friendly uke at all. It could pass for a much more expensive instrument based on the quality of how it sounds

I was given a pineapple ukulele about a year ago, to learn how to play. I'm not musical at all- I love music, always have, but can't read it and haven't played anything since junior high band. I'm 55. I F*CKING love playing the ukulele now, I love the feeling of making a great sound- with my own fingers! It's kinda mind-blowing. I know I suck at it but I love it all the same. After hearing the differences between these two, I am ridiculously grateful that I got a pineapple! I love the warm round tone! Thank you!

It sounds lovely & has good clarity of notes all over the fingerboard..both picked & strummed. I love the looks & tone…still not sure about the pointy headstock but it wouldn’t put me off buying one. Nice demo Matt…thanks. ❤

Very interesting, Matt! The thing that seems obvious to me is that no one string sounds 'best' in every clip, which is one of the reasons I haven't fitted the Black Waters to my tenor yet despite believing they'll probably work better for *some* pieces. But I could be tempted to try either extreme for a future string change on my concert where the Black Water tension might help guard against my current tendency to pull them about too much or the Green Planet bring some extra warmth at the expense of that. Of course there's still a good chance that experimentation will see me returning to the Pepe Romeros you chose for me in the first place, but who knows? :-)

thank you im building 1 from paddlepop sticks and bamboo skewers wanted to make it that shape for ease of construction have never seen 1 b4 and i love that extra bass sound however i went the the norm next will be pineapple will be a 5 stringer is why im doing this

I could def hear a difference. I started out thinking I liked the Gloss fin sound better, and it is beautiful, however I think the warmer tone is more for me. Thanks 😊

I just put these strings on my Eastman Tenor a few days ago; sounds pretty good, and very enjoyable to play!

By the way Matt, I have tried putting the ukulele on my lap while watching TV, as your suggestion but it’s made no difference in picture quality at all.
