zhlédnutí 553Před 8 měsíci
Happy Holidays 2023! Nicky isn't feeling very festive, but he'd like to share a song with you in hopes of cheering himself up, and maybe making you smile, too. Song by Ralph Blane, arranged, performed, and recorded by Rick Lyon.
Jim Henson: Rare Behind the Scenes Experimental "Primitives" Puppets Rehearsal Video
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 2 lety
The late Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets, often had private exploratory performance sessions to test new puppets and characters. They were all done in his company's facilities, and for strictly in-house use and evaluation. This excerpt, from a tape belonging to the estate of the late Muppet designer/builder Tim Miller, features prototype puppets performed by Jim Henson, Camille Bonora, David...

Avenue Q Puppets Saying Goodbye
zhlédnutí 27KPřed 5 lety
A short video I made to commemorate the end of the sixteen year run of the New York production of AVENUE Q, for which I created all the puppets.
I’m tearing up I don’t know if it’s cause I’m a puppeteer seeing an old puppet still have magic or I just really like the show
Just three aliens and a monkey singing about their love for dirty bean water. Shame I don't think they got to be in anything or even have their own show.
Hi-ho Rick, thank you for making this video! Me and the other Muppets loved Avenue Q and we were sad to see it go.. Jim would of loved this wonderful show..
bro coud put him on mute😂
From the same neighborhood of the uncanny valley as Didgit.
There's something about puppets from an adult Sesame Street stage parody singing an innocently sad Muppet song that's just so beautiful.
Great look at part of the process. Thank you Rick!!
20 years later we need 1 more show with the original cast
.....He never attended that meeting 🤣
You made me smile!
it makes me so so happy getting to hear from Nicky again
reminds me of Sam & Friend's sketches :)
The main puppet is obviously Jim. The body vocabulary is easily recognizable in common with Link Hogthrob.
The yellow puppet is Jim. The green puppet, I think, is Camille, the blue one is David, and the red one must be Rick.
So where do these puppets go now that they’re not in use? I’m guessing a warehouse of some sort? ☹️
Yup, I guess. Actually, what you see here is too kind of a representation. In truth, they were chucked into garbage bags, not even boxes, then hauled off to storage somewhere. By now they have probably all been thrown away - the foam has surely just completely decomposed.
@@TheLyonPuppetswait what no I love these characters DON’T LET THE FLAME DIE OUT
IM SO GLAD WE’RE STARTING OF 2024 LIKE THIS 🗣️‼️🔥
This just made my entire year! I'm so glad that even after all these years the puppets haven't completely been forgotten and clips like these are still being provided to us. Happy new year Rick, Nicky and to the rest of the Avenue Q cast :)
hell yeah let's go nicky
Let’s gooooo🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love Avenue Q and to see Nicky singing a Christmas song warms my heart! Thank you for this Rick! You're an icon <3
thank you merry Christmas :)
thank you nickyyy <3 merry christmas dude, you da best
Thanks for the holiday cheer up
I am so happy thanks Rick and nicky
im sad when they will go back?😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
So sad to see them go. They will be missed. :(
Picasso esque, also resemble the Labyrinth talking statues from a year later!
:)
thank you for the good memories hopefullly one day we all can say welcome back Avenue Q in one form or another
Man I wish Avenue Q return maybe they can make a Movie like The Muppets (2011)
This song makes me ugly cry to this day. When I was 5, I was watching this and I cried so hard my mom ran in thinking I was grievously injured.
Do you remember which puppeteer performed which exact Primitive?
Sure. Camille Bonora is in the far screen left puppet, David Rudman is the far right puppet, Jim is obviously the live hand lead singer, and I'm the orange/brown guy who falls down.
Comparing this to the cast recording, why does Nicky sound younger but Rod sounds older?! 😭
Hi. Can I ask you a question?
THE COSTUME CHANGE AND THE PRIDE FLAG WITH THE BALLOONS HAD ME ON THE FLOOR😭😭😭
The Song is Java Jive. Performed by the Ink Spots back in 1940
But the recording used here is by The Manhattan Transfer, released in 1975.
Please don't go
😭
😂😂😂
I’m sure the time spent with Jim helped with future projects. Such as making puppets, using them and overall experience.
Which one of these characters is a live hand puppet?
The yellow one in the front. Anytime a preformer uses their real hand movements like a hand in a glove is live hand puppet.
@@VoidBoi420 you mean the lead singer is performed by Jim Henson?
@@martydworkis12345 Yes.
@@VoidBoi420 which one of these characters is a hand-and-rod puppet?
@@martydworkis12345 Probably the ones behind the one in the front. You cant really see their arms so its hard to say.
Hearing Nicky singing makes me think that Rick Lyon would probably make for a passably Kermit and Ernie.
He or Artie.
@@caspercain2533 Artie who?
@@alexwilson9762 Esposito.
@@caspercain2533 Yeah Artie was actually Whitmire's understudy for a while and I kinda wish he replaced Whitmire rather than Vogel. No hate to Matt though.
Simmering cool…
Really cool! Great to see the process.
Thanks, Dan. Yeah, being in a room with Jim Henson just making stuff up is an experience that will not be topped in my lifetime.
Really cool designs, loved this. Thank you for sharing this Mr. Rick Lyon
Interesting designs. This is so awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm crying. I wanted to see this so bad when I first found out about it back in 2004. Sadly was always stuck in the Netherlands. :(
These guys look like Muppet whatnots.
I always hoped there would be another tour, who knows what the future holds. I would also pay anything to be able to own a puppet or two from the show.
Dude I'm crying now. Thanks for the laughs Avenue Q
"This guy, IN A MASK, slid over to me, and started talkin to me" Better have a mask Nickolas, if he didn't, you'd have CORONNAAA
