In this video, I fly to Southern Arizona to help get this old El Camino back on the road. The car is a 1970 El Camino SS 396 that my dad found in a private junkyard. Lots of history with this old rig and a lot of unknowns. Join me as we get this old racecar back on the street.

In this video I rebuild the carburetor on the f250. After building the Boom Tube exhaust I figured it'd be a great time to check the tune on this thing and make changes if needed.

nice brother.!!
Bro yeah exhaust kills power unless u got a motor specifically designed to run off back pressure n I’m definitely a classic muscle dude for sure bro!
Amazing welding talent!
I see a '71 grille on your truck, it's a Sport Custom too isn't it?
It’s a’72 camper special sport custom.
@@EvanNolen1989 oh beast!!! Mine is a '71 F-100 Sport Custom. 🙂
Sounds nice.
Just recommended this video and this blew me away bro. That sound is HEAVENLY and your editing and video making and humor is of someone who needs 100K subs!!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that.
Thanks for the inspiration, man. Im currently on my own saga
this is aa good video!!
I don't watch YT that mutch animore Cuse every thing I see ppl do is illegal iny Country! Even if I can do it better! I can not do it! I hate my Country! Guess where I'm From?
UK?
maybe try not putting a song over the exhaust that is the only reason i clicked on the video
but sick truck
Thanks for the feedback, still working on editing. I have a few other videos with this truck and exhaust, please check them out if you can
Crazy story for anyone having this similar problem and this video didn't solve the problem. I had a 96 GMC Yukon with 5.7 vortec that all of a sudden would not start, it cranked, but no start. I did the exact same thing as this video, and more, and nothing worked. After 3 days of hitting my head against the wall I had my wife crank it over while I did some more tinkering. I then noticed, by looking at the fan blades, it was turning the wrong direction!!! I was like WTF??? I then replaced the starter and VIOLA! It started right up because it was now turning the proper direction! Unreal! That was the first and last time I have ever seen a starter all of a sudden decide to start turning the wrong direction. Maybe this will help someone else someday. Cheers!
lmao this guy is funny as shit and tuck sounds good!
now retune your carb so you don't end up pinching a piston from it being so dang loud you don't hear pinging like thecraig909 lol. Also I have a 76 F250 with a high(er) comp 390. Still a boat anchor of an engine, but at least now it can spin the rears with a 3.07 D61. Boom tubes sound like fun tho!

Sounds super smooth & deep! I'm a mopar guy in the UK with a '76 Dodge D100 with a built 360 LA. Its on a pair of cherry bombs at the moment but I have ordered some stainless - guess what I'll be building!
That’s awesome! Cheers from the states mate!🍻
You now have a new subscriber sure. Cheers
Thank you! I appreciate that
Sounds great . Im gonna have to fabricate some for my camry... just to be that guy.
Yoooooooo. Your truck looks like mine. But running better and looking better then mine 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Im tryna figure out how to put a boom tube on my yamaha mt10
😂
I love your truck! I just got a 1972 f-250 as well, I'd love to do something just like your truck with mine!
Awesome! I got my truck in 2012 and daily drove it for years doing construction. I proposed to my wife in it, moved across the country with it; we’ve been through a lot…
@@EvanNolen1989 I just got mine in early May, and there's still quite a bit of work to do, and it's my first truck too, can't wait to have it on the road!
You need a crossover tube and it should make a little more power. Look up Stapleton42 he is big into the boomtube exhaust.
It has an h pipe
One day when i get that charger that i want so much, im gonna run an exhaust exactly like this 🔥 sounds so raw
Do it! That would be awesome
Pretty neat result. I need to build an x-pipe to boom tube setup on at least one of my race cars 😂. I run demo derby dirt oval with a 302w swapped rx7 and early stock class asphalt oval with a 300 Ford powered '29 Studebaker.
You need a rubber mount to at least take some of the vibration.
Yes, and an x pipe. And a manual swap, it’s all coming
It's fun to bring old rigs back to live, I do the same....currently working on my BJ73 Toyota LandCruiser
Automatic 🥱
Ya ya ya, manual swap is on the list.
I drive a 1977 Ford LTD Landau, 4 door, with a stock 400m and FMX transmission and a 1999 Dodge 3500 4x4, 24 valve 5.9 Cummins with a 47RE transmission that's out right now. Chasing money to fix both, but I'll get there
Great video! On the list of my favorite channels now.
Thank you very much!
Привет из России, твой эль камино самый стильный масло который я когда либо видел!
Awsome video!!
Southern Arizona is amazing...El Camino is amazinger!
It even sweeps the streets! 😂
Idk why but you make me think of the phrase "less psychotic sean strickland" lol
LOL! I take that as a Yuge compliment. Thank you
Awesome vid! Very cool, and it looked fun to be doing all this with your dad!
Thank you! And yes, that weekend was amazing. Some of the best times wrenching for the both of us
Классные ребята🤝 а природа какая👍 ну и ель Камино хорош, звук приятный👌
Thank you!
This is awesome….
It looks good and it sounds great! Absolutely a win! 👍
Thanks man!
I want one on each side of my 07 GT Mustang. Sounds and looks great!
Throw some 110 in er’ and she will also smell fantastic to match the sound. I think she sounds amazing!
I live in the south and every truck has Flow Master and it makes the trucks sound like crap. You made the best sounding exhaust for a truck I have ever heard.
I appreciate that, thank you very much. I too have grown out of the flow master tone.
Boom Tubes are great. And you'll get some added H.P. from them. You'll also attract the cops so be careful where you rev it or drive it fast. What we did is put a cross over tube between the booms right before the angle starts. We made or whole setup out of thick steel & secure it well.(Rubber mounted as well). You'll loose an exhaust system if it's not well secured. Truck's sounding great. Now it needs to be a 4 speed manual. Our Boomers were on a 1968 & 70 Super Bee.
I would love to manual swap this truck, been thinking about that lately. I appreciate the feedback!
@@EvanNolen1989 You are welcome.
totally appreciate the humor dude! Got a new sub here!
Thanks! I appreciate that
Thanks!

You like NASCAR Boom Tubes? Let me introduce you to the X-Pipe and Sterling Marlin's 1995 Daytona 500 winning car. The best sounding NASCAR stock car to ever hit the track. Stapleton42 has an amazing video showcasing it called "The Car That Changes NASCAR: Sterling Marlin's Crazy Sounding 1995 Daytona 500 Winning Monte Carlo!". Worth a watch whether you're interested in adding it to your truck or not. czcams.com/video/4EtSA1TocZg/video.htmlsi=4juz1r5rJJ7Jeiq4
Sterlings car is a large part of the inspiration for this project; which is not over. I actually used an audio clip of his car in this video (in the intro). Also, I’m a big fan of the Stapleton42 channel, been watching him for a few years now. X pipe is definitely in my trucks future. Thanks for the comment! I appreciate it
Ear dyno says it sounds good. Bimmer guy, but I'd mess around and throw that style boom tube on my E24 for shits and giggles.
Hell yeah!!!! Built not bought.
Boom tubes are not what makes nascars sound like that it’s the X pipe look at the iroc series exhaust they had a wild bend in the X pipe to give it the high pitch. Boom tubes are just large flat exhaust tips.
Before X pipes they had H pipes, both sounded like “nascars”. Boom tubes are part of the sound. H pipes have a lower tone, x pipes have a higher pitch tone which I love. X pipe coming for the truck btw. This is a journey, thanks for watching the video, more cool stuff coming soon
@@EvanNolen1989 h pipes do not give the same sound nascars no longer run the exhausts they use to they don’t sound the same and still run boom tubes. Boom tubes really don’t do anything for sound it was literally the X pipe they ran. Look up the doctor gas videos they’ll explain it.
@@EvanNolen1989 so many people run boom tubes on their exhaust they sound nothing like a nascar
Okay cool
This video has no waste, cool!
My grandfathers old Mk2 Golf is in a state of disrepair, I also have another Mk2 Golf me and the boys bought for local autocross event (I say its mine because I the boys decided I should hold the title for giving the largest sum), and I intend on buying a Mercedes, either a C123 or 190E. Awesome fuckin pipes youve made btw! Id love to see if I can fit something like that in the future when I do buy that Mercedes I wanna buy.
I love Mercedes, I grew up in a few and learned how to drive in a 1987 300E. Golf’s are cool too. My brother has one with a turbo upgrade and a tune and it rips hard
