That "I heard Bonham in London" by Page story doesn't stack up. He was Plants main man in his original band and it was a case of, if I join so does my drummer. Bonham was never on Pages list until then. Plant wasn't on his list! It was Terry Reid and it was Reid (record contract obligations forced him to say no) that told Page to check out Plant.

it's hard to move on when you lose a great band mate... similar to John Deacon not wanting to play without Freddie...

Leave it to Harrison to try and ruin Led Zep. Page and Plant were to awesome to let that happen though.

Eric Clapton had the right to say whatever he wanted! Led Zeppelin did copy a lot of African American blues music and rewrite it and put their name on it, which was plagiarism. Maybe that’s what Eric Clapton meant. I’m not sure.

Clapton was always a bluesman at heart. He was not into the hard rock genre and thought Page didn’t reach his potential. He is entitled to his opinion and still be wrong.

The Who, Clapton, and Keif from the Stones, dis Led Zeppellin, but to me it's pretty clear why. They hated that Zeppelin were the best band, with the best musicians in the history of music.

"I'm afraid you're just too darn loud" - Huey Lewis from Back to the Future (1985) 😂😂😂 Too loud? That's just so damn stupid. 100% Clapton is jealous of LZ's success, talent, complex & respected songs, and legendary popularity even all these years later. Blaring obvious jealousy.

I had heard yrs ago that JP wished to recruit Terry Reid as vocalist for the “little” group he was trying to form. I still have no idea what Mr Reid’s singing sounds like, nor can I name one of his songs. All I know is that he sent JP to check Robert Plant…

That's why he fought with David Gilmour to give him a pension. (Which at the end, Gilmore was the one who figured ways for Syd to get credit and money from the band, which he needed, he was in real struggle during his latest years. Roger did love hi, but not enough).

You still can think one band is too loud while you like another artist that’s way louder than that band. The perception you get from hearing a piece of music maters. A straight piece of music that’s louder but with an amazing rhythm and melody comes different in your brain than a loud piece of music that isn’t less straightforward but with a lot of quiet changes in different rhythms over the melody while the singing is doing the same while going up and down in that loudness. Both brilliant acts could be loud and less loud. But both had a different approach towards complexity in their art. And when you look back on Hendrix and zeppelin you need to take in account that it’s it’s now 50 to 60 years later. A long time in a lifetime. We don’t much difference when looking back at 60, 50, 40 or even 30 years. Rational we know the difference. But we do not feel these differences in numbers. This matters when you look back. We feel we talk about acts that performed in the same timeframe. That is not really the case. Jimmy began around ‘62. Led Zeppelin six years later and were active up to 1980, while Jim died in September ‘70. Different timeframe and different career spans. So to Clapton probably had heard Hendrix doing his stuff earlier on while he later touched Led Zeppelin ‘ works What goes up for us as a public also goes up for the musicians themselves. The music we hear earlier in life sticks with us more than what we hear ten years or twenty years later. The first acts simply stick on to us, whether or not we are more impressed by the latter acts. My music journey began in early eighties. So in my case I heard a lot of Michael Jackson. It could have just as well been Prince. But it just happened to be that MJ was more on my radar. Some years later I learned more about Prince his music. Today I respect both of their creatieve works and the musicianship of both. Something that MJ doesn’t always get enough credit for. But since jazz also does well in my musical journey I tend to listen more to Prince today Prince was in that sense more interesting to me. But MJ can’t be erased from my radar. And I absolutely appreciate his funky creations. Hendrix came earlier to Clapton his ears. Besides I think it also matters when a certain quote was made. Is the quote from Clapton from two days ago or was it 60s Clapton or 70, 80s Clapton ? You can not just take a random quote without a timestamp. People change their opinion up and down through their life. Which is a good thing. So that too maters. So to end my rant. I think these type of shorts doing an injustice to the history. Let’s at least acknowledge and appreciate that there were times that popular music was way more exciting than what CEO’s and Managers of big corporations are throwing out in today’s streams. Too often I hear music that is an insult to our brains. There are exceptions here and the but the general output is much too formatted and highly boring and annoyingly in too many high tones and less real base lines.
