    I bought a used 2003 JD 790 tractor with a 419 loader at a local independent dealer in 2018, . It was a trade in. Had 1000 hours on it, but, it looked to be in pretty good condition. After 5 years of operation, the left front mfwd final drive locked up. So, I ordered all the parts and rebuilt it. Gears, bearings, seals, sleeves, etc. Then, one year later, the right front final drive locked up on it. Seals were leaking on the right and left sides. I removed both right and left and rebuilt the right drive assembly and put new seals in everywhere. I came across several videos on CZcams that mentioned failures of the seals on this model tractor being due to overpressure of the transaxle due to no venting of the cavity. Before I put my machine back in operation, I will be venting the transaxle cavity through the dip stick plug and also be venting each final drive assembly. It was an expensive lesson learned about seals and proper venting of the cavities. Thanks for posting the video. It was helpful to see how others maintain their equipment.

    Enjoyed the process. I have a 2006 TLB. Love the tractor. Couple of things I can share with you that may help avoid some costly downtime. My creeper rocker switch is susceptible to getting wet which then renders the TLB immobile. Let it dry out and all is good but who wants that. You have an enclosed cab so water from above shouldn't be an issue. I power washed mine and hit under the fenders where there is a plastic channel cover for the roll cage wiring. That's how i got it wet from below. The mounting brackets for the front loader can get filled up with whatever creating a potential failure at the welds when rolling the bucket. I try to keep an eye on mine and clean out when I notice it filling. I have seen on other CZcams videos where the loader mounting towers that bolt to the transmission I believe can get loose and then create a moment which can crack the TX housing. Keep them torqued up. Yours appears to have a had some tough life moments. With the welding and front hub disassembly. I gasped when I saw the amount of dirt on the radiator screen. Surprised you didn't have overheating issues. I noticed your hydraulic gauge registered just from driving it a bit. Mine will not register unless I am bush hogging in summer heat. Curious how things are now after your service. Let me know if you get a chance. JD rocks.

      I usually haul it on a tilt deck that is 19’6” flat and a good part part of the hoe is over the tongue yet. You could probably haul it in one with the bucket up and the hoe over the tongue depending on the length of the trailer. Also, the 110 weighs about 8,000 pounds

    So I was going to buy won of these machines to clear / open up a piece of property I bought...do you think a machine this size has enough grunt to do land clearing or would it be to much for it? Also in regards to cracked bell housing, I read that the earlier models right up to 2007 have had this problem (not common though).....do you know if JD added additional bracing in the 2009 - 2012 models years? I enjoyed your video and wonder if your still happy with your purchase or would you of gone with a different machine and if so what ?

    • @ifitworks901
      @ifitworks901 Před rokem

      Yes, I am still happy with my purchase. I would have liked to know prior to buying it that the bell housing was cracked and repaired, but I probably still would have purchased it. My model is a 2008 and from what I have seen they haven't added additional bracing. That being said, if you keep the loader mast bolts tight and don't carry loads in the loader and the backhoe at the same time you may not have a problem. I like the John Deere and chose it over the Kubota for a few reasons. The similar HP Kubota has smaller rear tires and had the steering brakes on the same side as the hydrostatic pedals so brake turning was hard(they fixed that issue on the newest models). It has done pretty much everything I have wanted it to do. I have a video of digging out a stump, and have done a few others as well. If you had 40 stumps you wanted out, I might rent an excavator. I have a grapple for it which it handles with ease and moves very large logs. I have done some light ground clearing I guess you could say. There are a few other lesser issues these have, notably some cracks often develop on the loader supports as well as wearing out pins. The loader cracks are easily welded and I have a video I will post sometime of doing that. If you were to purchase one I bet it would be inexpensive to have a local welder brace it for you and weld the loader if there were cracks. Thinking about it, my machine likely was rather abused in its first life. Maybe I can make a video of everything to look for prior to purchase as I only noticed most of the things after using it for awhile. I don't think any machine would have suited me better as something bigger would be too big since we have 20 acres and I wanted something hydrostatic drive. The new Kubota M62 is tempting, but also would be >$80,000 similarly equipped to mine and has too many electronics. My neighbor has a mini hoe and a tracked skid steer, but this does better than those in our woods since we have a good bit of swamp. Haven't gotten it stuck where I couldn't pull myself out. I wish I had a good video of it, but it also has put out two fires on our property. I joke with my wife I should apply for the local fire department.

    • @ifitworks901
      @ifitworks901 Před rokem

      I actually broke my grapple twice within the first 3 months of using it moving brush and ripping out trees.

    • @toddbrown2588
      @toddbrown2588 Před rokem

      Yeah I guess that would be a huge factor in preventing a cracked bell housing by keeping loader arm bolts torqued to 150lbs and not stressing the frame by having a loaded bucket and backhoe. In regards to clearing my acreage I think I have maybe 20 tree stumps to dig out but I'm not in a rush......any idea how many hours you can get out of the Perkins diesel motors before you have to refresh it (inframe). Yes I think that is a good idea to post a video going over what to look for when considering purchasing a JD 110 TLB, I'm sure you would get a fair bit of traffic. Anyways I've got 2 Im looking at with both around 4500 hours, one with an enclosed cab and heat the other one with open cab....I like the closed cab, now if I can just get the price down a bit,LOL........take care @@ifitworks901

    • @ifitworks901
      @ifitworks901 Před 11 měsíci

      I think you could get those stumps done with this machine unless they were very large trees with a deep taproot. They have a Yanmar diesel and I don't know how many hours to say before a rebuild would be needed. I think I have 80-90 hours per year on mine so I bet it would last awhile for you. Cab is nice protecting you from branches in the woods. Makes it hotter in the summer though. I don't really care about the heat unless you wanted to wear a T-shirt while plowing.

      @@ifitworks901 you might want to try to get one because if you do get one it will not overheat as much due to the fact that without it it's sucking in a lot more debris so it will overheat more without it than if you had one oh and it has the wrong deck on it the deck that's supposed to be on it is the 7iron II deck but it has the deck from the previous generation 1435 which is just the 7iron I personally recommend the 7iron pro 72 best deck that john deere makes.

I can film some of the cab, I have a Laurin which I think is made up North. Only thing it doesn't have is A/C. There is a cab company selling cabs for them for pennies on the dollar. I think it would be $5400 for everything.

      Years ago I spoke with a Deere rep. 2012 was there last model year. Economy was a mess (remember it was half way through the Obama years). National EPA Tier4 rules would require John Deere to do a complete redesign to accommodate all the emissions garbage. No more sloped hood, etc. New tractors need alot more H.P. just to function. He said if the economy wasn't as bad they may have done it, but they just stepped back and stopped production. The 110 TLB was designed and built by Deere's Forestry and Construction division, not the Ag division like most tractors. Without doubt it is the finest compact tractor ever built. Brute tanks.
