      Yes I have one of these (a proper DeWalt brand one) The only issue is I've noticed some kind of parasitic power draw when I use my 20v battery on my 18v DeWalt drill - it will drain the batter if I leave it connected. Not sure if it's an issue with my drill or my adapter. Easy fix - I just don't leave the battery connected. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    Great video! Thanks for sharing! Couple questions. How do you record your audio while recording video? Or do you re-record later? It’s just feels like your mic is super close to your mouth and I don’t see one in the video. What and where did you get the motor? I’m looking to build a similar thing to paint gas cylinders that would be roughly your weight and it seems like that motor would do the trick. And not to be the internet a******, but you clearly do great work and just wanted to pass along two tools that may help a fellow builder. Step bits, drill bits that would do what you did here with your switch hole. And zip tie cutters to cleanly cut zip ties. Stanley makes an affordable set, and Ty-Rap makes a really nice set that is…well we use them in the defense industry, so that should tell you how much they cost. Thanks again for that great video and a really nice build!

    What would be really cool is if you could specify a model for the waster tower. Those waste towers you had in your video would make pretty good traffic cones, themselves. Imagine having some model that you could print, where you don't care about the colors or the colors you are using for your main model work fine for the "waste model".

    I already purchased the MMU3 upgrade, just watching for fun. Prusa lead times have been pretty good for me (in the US), I received the kit about a week after ordering. I agree on the spool holders, they're not great. What really sucks about them is that if your spools have any defects on the edge, they won't work. Most spools have slots along the edge to stick the filament in for storage. I have several spools where those slots were dented in during shipping. Catastrophic failure when trying to use them.

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes Před 2 měsíci

      Well you can buy an X1C +AMS combo and have it in a few days instead of waiting 6 months to a year for an XL multi head or waiting for the Mk4 version of MMU3 to ship (few weeks or months?). So if you need something today I fully understand the Bambu approach. If I saw a deeply discounted X1C + AMS combo on the used market I would probably buy it for testing. But for now I vastly prefer to simplify my workflow and stock with Prusa Mk3s/Mk4/XL. I want to reduce, as much as possible, the different types of printers and configurations

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks! Yes I have a satin sheet for the XL but I didn't film any B-roll of the PETG prints I did. (Though if I'm just printing a 1-off I'm frequently lazy and just spray some window cleaner on the PEI sheet as a release agent. I only do this if it's already a well used PEO sheet). On my Mk4 I keep the satin sheet on most of the time. On my Mk3 I'm mostly running PEI sheets. Thanks for watching and commenting on this video too!

    Congratulations for the new printer... I think this is an excellent and expensive new toy (printer). Many people in this field are collecting more and more printers for no valid reasons but just for the fun of it (me included :) ). My question to you: I saw purge blocks in your video, is it a requirement for this printer or just sample file, since the main reason behind having several heads is to save filament waste and reduce print costs over all?

    • @brisance
      @brisance Před 2 měsíci

      Those are not purge blocks as the XL is a toolchanger and does not need to purge previous material in the nozzle. They are wipe towers and while not strictly necessary, they are used to stablize extruder pressure after idling on the nozzle seal. They are hollow and use very little material compared to a MMU setup.

    Great review, it seems like they've refined this 3D printer a lot since the first units sold last year. Unfortunately, they had to change the nozzle from 0.6 to 0.4 to eliminate stringing issues. The good thing about Prusa is that they will keep refining details, improving the firmware, and optimizing the slicer, therefore, Prusa is always a good investment.

    Looking at the prices to upgrade my mk3s to a 3.5 and order a new Mmu (do not have one currently) I’m looking at 600 shipped. I might as well sell my mk3s and buy a bamboo labs already assembled. Probably cost less as well

      If multi material or multi color printing is your priority I tend to agree. I haven't tried out a P1S or X1 yet but I hear quite good things. I prioritize commonality so I'd rather keep my fleet all Prusa to simplify my workflow (for now). Thanks for watching! Let me know what you end up going with.

    Thanks Asa. I'm a noob at 3Dprinting - I just recently bought a Prusa MK4, and it is an amazing workhorse! I didn't know that the Prusa slicer allowed pauses and color changes! I'm definitely going to read upon that! I've watched a couple of your videos, and I have found them interesting and informative - thank you. There is one thing I'll mention though ... the audio seems to be ever so slightly out of sync with the video. It's a bit distracting, but one can get used to it. Just thought I'd mention it in case it has escaped your notice.

      Thanks for watching! A Mk4 is a great place to start A few people have commented on the Audio/Video sync - I changed the audio recording for my next video so hopefully I get it properly fixed

    I did mine but it doesn’t work! It just pulsates. What’s wrong? V7 model with a Dewalt 20v 5 amp.

      I had a similar issue when the waste cover - the piece that hinges - wasn't closed completely. And other people have reported a similar issue when the filter is very clogged. Was it doing that before the battery swap?

    In CZcams's infinite wisdom it just now showed me your channel. You seem to check all the boxes: Humor-check, interesting-check, functional designs-check, actual CAD files for you projects-double check, overall fun and entertaining use of my time-check. Like-check. Subscribed-check. Maybe you might want to consider making a short video on making some checkers or something.

      Lol, I do actually have a video planned on making literal checks because I'm sick of paying for checkbooks once a decade, but I digress Thanks for watching! And subscribing! And commenting!

    I too, enjoyed the subtle jokes. And you don't act goofy like a few of them do. Great information and thanks for providing the files. I'm just getting into 3D printing and trying to learn as much as possible before I get my printer, which I've already picked out ... Bambu P1S BTW, I'm a 70 yo woman. Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!

      Thanks for watching! Never too old to tinker, the initial learning curve can be a bit steep but printers like the P1S make things as straight forward as possible

    You do a GREAT job of explaining this stuff out!!! Way to go! Can you get Octiprint for Linux? I have an old laptop that I can run Linux on and has a camera built into it as well.
