I have visited Scotland many times and was always blown away by its beauty and the friendliness of the Scots. That was in Glasgow and Edinburgh. However, I had a few encounters on Skye with some locals who were very anti-English, but obviously the vast majority of Scots are wonderful. Liked and subscribed.

Yorkshire the biggest county in England, York is in Yorkshire, I was born in a small town about 30 miles from Whitby, it is as beautiful as it is in your video, as are all the coastal towns and villages. Sheffield is in Yorkshire and it is an industrial city but it is still beautiful.

Billboards are severely restricted because of road safety.

England is much the same as Scotland. We can walk on footpaths that are open or private land. It is illegal to block a footpath.

I think regulations will say that you should have an enclosed light in tbe bathroom. Your home is lovely and you are a delughtful couple.

I dream of moving there, although I will not be able to because our sons live here, and I don't want to be so far from them. My husband and I will have to visit someday. You may see billboards in the City but not out of town they are illegal near roads. What you may find is a sign in a field on an old trailer. That gets around the legislations as it’s not classed as a permanent structure.

Terrierists are the best dogs , so loyal and friendly, my Patterdale terrier is 15 years old and hes a grumpy old man like me now , always pretending he cant hear me until the treat door opens 😂

As far as wild animals go,the haggis can give you a nasty scratch.

I love the light and shadow streams on the ceiling of the stairs created by that pretty glass overhead light. The green is elegant and cozy with the wheat flour carpet. (The yellow plaid wallpaper and yellow painted stair walls were cheery funny and dated.) I think it’s the right sized house you’ve bought, and your changes in the bathroom and creating a new one are great. I like the interim walls in the powder room that look like you could add frescos-though whatever is actually in the works will be better.

The only real natural disaster in Scotland is the midges! The corollary of the long summer days is the short winter days which can be literally depressing. I developed S.A.D while I lived there. Still miss the air, like champagne over ice, but prefer the sunshine! Regarding freedom to roam, just to clarify you shouldn’t walk “through” the fields of crops you are supposed to walk round the edge. I have witnessed a man taking two dogs off the leash through ripe wheat ! It wasn’t funny I can tell you! If I were the farmer I would want to do some physical explaining to that selfish moron ! The one bad thing I found regarding dogs in Scotland was that owners refused to pick up their dog waste! Not all obviously but when I lived there it was a struggle to get people to comply with the law. My favourite meal is Cullen skink, haggis, neaps and tatties followed by Cranikin (not sure if its spelled correctly) I wish you both well, hope you enjoy the country.

OMG, I LOL with the toilet comparison. I’ve said for many years after visiting Europe & the United Kingdom, WHY, oh WHY can’t Americans have bathrooms with actual privacy. Are we that cheap we can’t afford the extra 2”? Hysterical. I grew up in New Orleans and love sitting outside as you said and watching the rain and thunder/lightening. I’m so thrilled you are enjoying your new lives.

"Right to roam" very important. And dogs are trained. Electric system is much faster.

As for people doing noisy activities early on, I moved to Perth a few months back and the council were digging up and resurfacing the road outside where I live at around 3am! So, not always so quiet! I wasn't annoyed but it was still kind of unusual!

Talking about carnivorous animals the Midges that live by the water in Scotland are as ferocious as any flesh eaters.

My wife and I visited Scotland a year ago. It sucked coming back to the US after that. Eventually we want to move to Scotland.

Really enjoyed this , lots of good points living in the uk (scotland) we work to live , not live to work , take advantage of the quality time with your family , making memories ,thats what life is all about.

The slower pace, the peace, the beautiful landscape, the uniforms, the peace, the shorter work hours, tea time with those scones, and so much more. I have always liked GB. I am old now but if I were younger I would definitely want to move to Scotland or England, Wales or Ireland. You two and your little family are in a good place.
