I know what I think of when I hear monkey paper. I think the overall meaning stays the same, while making the name, itself, art. And as an artist myself, please steal this. Spread the message. I fucking hate monkey paper and I wish for more to wake up from it's grasp on them as well.

Growing your creativity. It has really helped me a lot to stop & consider my art, my process, + common artist ways of creativity being taught everywhere; to assist creative flow. And that's what I really want- I want to work with creative flow. It seems a good goal as an artist, if it is coming true from you, along with all the other factors artists can care about, especially since I previously painted realism & have begun to explore new ways. There is no 'right' or 'best' art. I probably am more likely to have my own style come forth, when I work that way, with flow. So I see a good question is, what is it that I need/ can do, that will assist me to work that way, with flow. What do I need to have in place? Amazingly, i was already seeking to put in place all that this video talks about, such as develop my personal symbols, etc. So this video info resonates....1. Symbol language/ find your resource (e.g. Henry Dreyfuss Symbol Sourcebook). 2. Source material (history etc)/ Steal like an artist 3. Have a message (to become more than the sum of your influences- choose what serves your message. *Reason most artists get stuck- they have no guiding ideology to get them out of their tough spots. Overthinking. paralysis; when don't have overarching message in your work. They don't know what they're trying to communicate to the world, so can get stuck for days. Basquiat had constant flow: it's not just that he had source material, but he had a place to channel it. When you have a message, art comes out of you easily. IV. speed.basquiat flow. Work quickly/ so fast you don't have time to think. Most of flow in your art, will come from things of your life that is not art. Feed mind during down time/ go off line. So doesn't take hours to get started when it's time to work. Thinking brain = enemy in your art V. "Study, memorize, internalize".... make that your mantra, & the ideas you consume will marinate inside you. (e.g. Basqiat, did drawing of Roman belt buckle, at Met museum art/ then came back & put the drawing in his painting. Interviewer noted it = a slow process... but really, this use of down time will make you fast when it's time to work. The oddest things will come out of you... all because made self a well of inspiration. And like @guido.montagna 2 months ago wrote below: "Work fast" can be very wrongly interpreted as "Quantity over Quality". But for us... over thinkers, that's the best advice... It's not about going fast, it's about going faster than you usually go...In that way you don't think, you just do..... I was already planning on working intuitively, doing what I feel I like, realizing there is no 'best' way to work. Just do your thing, your message, what you like, what appeals to you, in a flow... Art flow. Anything can be art in our day. It is not representational. Yet, we can take what we liked from art history, as an artist communal progression & be inspired, yet do our thing

to elaborate on the "work fast" advice: work now, think later. if you are constantly thinking about how your work should look or be like before you even begin, you will fail. Your body hates overthinking. Splash wild colors on that canvas first, write that incoherent story first. You must begin to truly start. However, don't think you are done. If you only listen to the "work fast" advice you will end up producing poor work, especially if you have little to no experience. It can work for some, and it worked for Basquiat because he already mastered "work now, think later."

Prince was slightly before my time. But as I got older, I realized looking back at the 80s, that at the time when there was some weird stuff going on, Prince created an entire Genre and scene all his own plus wrote hit songs for other artist. Dude was unlike any other of the time.
