Cuckoo clocks - a worldwide known tradition
The cuckoo clock in its original form has gained popularity all around the world and is known for its wooden house with a clock embedded in its middle. It can either have a natural structure or reveal a highly detailed decoration.
The wooden box, creating the body of the house, hides a precision clockwork and two bellows. These generate the characteristic and signature call of the cuckoo, which cheerfully and steadily announces…Naturally, the entire framework is rounded off by the distinct pendulum, that keeps the mechanical movement running.
Adolf Herr from Hornberg-Niederwasser, a small village in the heart of the Black Forest, is a passionate craftsman and artist. He has dedicated his life to the manufacture of cuckoo clocks. In doing so, he has not only mastered traditional designs but also invented many of his own mechanisms and created countless unique pieces.

Cuckoo Clock Making | Handcrafted in the Black Forest - "Happy Family"
We show you how we create an original cuckoo clock. All our clocks are manufactured in an old family tradition in the Black Forest in Germany.
This cuckoo clock is called "Happy Family" - it´s a cuckoo clock with a typical Black Forest House with a hand-carved roof, a bell tower, a chimney and hand-painted Gentian and Sunflowers. The parents kiss in time to the cuckoo call. Two alternating melodies - Edelweiss and Happy Wanderer - play every hour. Meanwhile the siblings rock happily on the see-saw and the water wheel turns.
The figurines on the balcony, who are wearing the Black Forest costume, dance around to the music. Every clock we manufacture is personally signed at the back by the manufacturer Adolf Herr.
His signature guarantees the experience of 7 generations of clock-workmanship. Our clocks come with a certificate of authenticity (AHC).

A Black Forest cuckoo clock with hand-carved roof, handpainted alpine flowers, a kissing couple, two children on a swing and a big turning water wheel. Cuckoo on the hour and half hour and the figurines are dancing to the music on the hour.
I bought it online from Black Forrest.
How do I repair the dancing pairs in my cuckoo clock? They stopped moving.

They are 8 days if you hang them over 9 feet so the weights will last 8 days before they touch the floor. The chains are 8 ft 5" to the bottom of the clock therefore the clock would have to be hung at least 9 feet and 8" for it to last 8 days. Or you can hang it at any height and wind it twice a week

I got my cuckoo clock from the same people and I am super impressed that it keeps time so well. I really expected keeping time was kinda secondary to the cuckoo and the tiny dancers, but it also keeps time beautifully! I love mine! 😍

You people just kill me. What the heck are you gluing the whistle boxes on for. For some of use that have to work on these clocks later, makes a for sure challenge to get them back off for repair. A simple nail would work just fine like they use to do in the day.
Plastic dolls glued bellows I miss when back in the 90's early 2000's when cuckoos had all wood dolls and where flat 2d NOT plastic 3 d dolls.

I thought what made black forest cockoo clocks, were that they were completely hand carved and made. Thats what made them so precious to me. To see them made in production and lazer cutters. Really takes away for me.

If cuckoo clocks were made entirely by hand, only "ten" millionaires on the planet would be able to buy them.
Not everyone can afford 2 to 3 thousand on a clock.
Vean, lo que siempre me he preguntado es ¿cuánto será la vida útil de la máquina, especialmente la propia del reloj?. Pues veo que los ejes de los engranes en general, no los montan en bushings o como le llamen, sino que las ponen en el mismo marco de bronce sin eso que dije del bushing. Y lo digo por experiencia con un reloj nipon de péndulo y hace 40 años, que misteriosamente y luego de 10 años de operación, pues mi papá lo compró en 1970, la máquina del reloj se paraba y cuando la mandamos al relojero, nos dice del desgaste de los bushings de este cuento. Dejo la inquietud al fabricante de estos fascinantes ejemplos de la artesanía teutona. Saludo.
Hola. Compramos un cucú de tres péndulos en Alemania 1958 y aun funciona. Saludos.
Porque hay que limpiarlos y engrasarlos cada 2 ó 3 años con el aceite que indica el fabricante (muy caro para un mecanismo Regula 34 cómo el del video, unos $40.00 para 8 ml). Tu padre seguramente no le hizo mantenimiento alguno y de ahí el desgaste. Tienen su mantenimiento, si no se hace correctamente la maquinaria no dura lo que debería.
