I have An Epson L8180, do you think y could do DTP with this printer?
I'm sorry I am not familiar with that printer so cannot advise you. You need a direct feed section on the printer to feed the plate flat.
@@silviglattauer392 yes, this printer has a direct feed section.
Es posible ir desde El peñón a Campo Piedra Pomez en vehículo bajos y normales (no 4x4)? Pregunto porque en la sección 3:27 de videos aparecen autos bajos en el estacionamiento. Gracias.
The toned ink is lovely.
Beautiful work and well explained. Thanks,
This is a wonderful work ! I am actually looking for large photopolymer plate (A3 / A2 / A1) in order to print very large images ! Could you tell me which brand of photopolymer plate you use on this video, and pheraphs suggest me a good on-line shop where I could find large photopolymer plates ? Many thanks!
I am using a JET plate in this video, but they are no longer made. I recommend you access TOYOBO PRINTIGHT KM 73 plates - easily available in the USA UK, EUROPE AND ASIA..
Many thanks for your reply ! this is very useful ! I will try the forniture you suggest me ! 🙏
@@silviglattauer392jet brand plate is available
@@silviglattauer392Can I use the generic ones sold in Amazon? Can I also use any inkjet printer?? Thanks
@@tcdp9804 You can experiment with any photopolymer plate. If you want to do the Direct to Plate as in this video then you will need an Epson printer with a direct feed mechanism.
Can u show the preparation of the digital file and the printing plz
Feel free to get in contact with for an online tutorial. silvi@silvi.com.au
Thank you,, this video is very helpful for me!!!!
Wonderful, Silvia...I love it...
Hi, thanks you for this video. Which tools are you using to print ? Any particular setup or profile ? Are aquatint grains generated when you print ?
Hi - you have a lot of questions which i would be happy to answer and help you with calibration profiles etc. Would you like to set up an online session with me? Please refer to information on my webpage for this. Many thanks for taking interest. www.silvi.com.au/events/workshops-and-tuition
What a beautiful print! It must be simply gorgeous to see in reality.
Thank you for this videos. Where is video Part 1?
czcams.com/video/b-dFKZNjKwI/video.html
Could i use a p700 for direct to plate?
The P700 will struggle to load a plate via the front feed. I do not recommend it.
Polymer is not Photogravre. It's a plastic plate and there is no "gravure", as no etching takes place. Even so, this is a wonderful video, thanks for sharing.
One could say the polymer is etched ...
Yes the polymer layer of the plate is etched with water. The polymer dissolves where it has not hardened by the UV light.
Lindo demais❤
Super ...😮....que talento con El drone... NICE...ARRIBA BRASIL...we love BRASIL...FELIZ TIEMPO IN ARGENTINA..😊

Hello! One question: how do you do the profile “Photo-gravure” on the quadtone? Do you use a stochastic screen or do you apply only this adaptative dither?
Hello - no stochastic screen. I print Direct to Plate sos the Inkjet printer dots act as a screen. Also I created the profile for quadtone. It's function is to turn off all inks except for Matt black.
This is so cool. I have some books with beautiful photogravure plates but never understood the process
Wich printer do you use for direct print on plate?
HELLO - I use an Epson P800
oops, never mind, I just learned that you're in Australia. Love your work
Thanks for this, I was confused as to whether it was Fahrenheit or Celcius!
great video, thank you! i am getting back to doing photogravure. Could you please tell me where to get large polymer plates, such as the one you were using? I would appreciate it , thanks!
Dear, Silvi Is it possible to receive any samples if your work to compare some of my work ? and if how much
Please email me at silvi@silvi.com.au
Amazing thank you. What is the thickness of the plate?
.95mm
This palte is 0.95mm
What is the machine/equipment at 0:35 ?
It's a UV exposure unit.
Beatiful prints, I wonder what are called those plates you are using for printing and from where I could possibly found those. Thanks you in advance
Excelente video!!!! Gracias por compartir
Silvi, your videos are very well done and informative and explain more of the process, step by step than others I have watched. Thank you..Mikel Flamm
ma'am what is the name of the powder you sprinkled over paper and what is its role ?
The powder is Methyl Celulose and it is used as an adhesive sot hat the Chine Colle paper layer sticks to the etching printing paper
Beautiful print, lots of detail and nice contrast, thank you.
Results look good.
The wooden enclosure makes the unit seems amateurish but I can understand your economy of scale incentive. But nowadays one can get metal sheet enclosures CNCed and folded on a 1 to 1 basis for a very competitive price, think of it as a prototyping overhead cost.
Very interesting Silvi. great thanks to sharing this.
Boa Boa noite essa reveladora de tela senhor está vendendo qual valor
Beautiful work!! (Evanston, IL)
I really liked both the photographs and the coptic binding. Could you tell me what kind of paper and what printer did you use to do it? Thank you
Hello James - I use an Epson P800 printer. With this book I used a combination of printmaking paper (Velin Arches) and inkjet paper (Canson) - thanks for your interest.
A lovely gumbo of ideas and techniques.
Thanks Silvi. I might give this a try.
Thanks for sharing your expertise, really inspiring. Beautiful prints, would love to see the other 2 demonstrations in the series, thanks
hello silvi can you give me a reference address for the printing material. With best regards from Switzerland Walter Becker
sublime, what a lovely and informative video, thank you so much
Great introduction but really need much more information/guidance to be of real instruction . A lot left unsaid.
Wow! I am YOUR FAN! Bravo! Amazing Theme!
Amazing Silvi! It is the song which I heard when I was in Srilanka! Thank you for posting this video!
What is this type of plate you used for printing here?
Thanks a lot for sharing!, Best greetings from France
Truly stunning results. I don't think I've seen photopolymer plates with such rich blacks!
Alex Boyd many thanks!! It’s the goal of good calibration!!
Silvi - thank you for putting this out there. I am at the beginning of my journey to be able to make photopoly gravures and this is really helpful information. I am wondering why black ink only? I am curious if you have ever tried using Adobe RGB image 16bit - converted to black & white with an adjustment layer instead of dumping all that color info ( i use it to control contrast and tonal range in digital negatives.) and then just using the advanced black and white printing mode instead of just black ink?
Hello Gina - The black only refers to printing the image on the plate. You need to use the Matt Black ink from your printer without any other colour channels active. The advanced black and white mode for printing is not good as it also adds colour even though you cannot see them. If your printer does not have the Black only printing option, then you can use Quadtone Rip for advanced printing controls. When editing my images via Photoshop, I always adjust my images in Adobe RGB 16 bit with adjustment layers. I hope that explanation helps!
@@silviglattauer392 Hi i am also studying this job Is the ink you used from Epson? Or use K7 ink? Thank you for sharing the video
@@agapicture Helloo - I use the Epson inks. Only the Matt black ink.
@@silviglattauer392 Thank you so mush You did a great job!
@@silviglattauer392 wow could this be used in the commercial setting and removing the need for an expensive computer to plate laser mchine
Hi SIlvie, Love your work and this video is very instructional. How do you use DTP on photopolymer ready made plates? Is it Toyobo KM73?
Hello Fotoart - Yes I do use Toyobo KM 73. Have a look at this next video - czcams.com/video/EvwQV90QE-k/video.html
Thanks. Your short video was very helpful.
WOW Silvi G....that's sooooooooo much more complex a process than I had envisaged. Amazingly produced and presented image creation and Video. Well done both of you! (silvi and rodney :))
Have you adapted the printer, using special inks or the epson dedicated inks?
Hi Vanessa - No I just use the regular epson Inks - Matt Black channel only.
