ROMEO
[To JULIET] If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.
JULIET
Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,
Which mannerly devotion shows in this;
For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.
ROMEO
Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?
JULIET
Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.
ROMEO
O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do;
They pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.
JULIET
Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake.
ROMEO
Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take.
Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged.
JULIET
Then have my lips the sin that they have took.
ROMEO
Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged!
Give me my sin again.
JULIET
You kiss by the book.
Nurse
Madam, your mother craves a word with you.
ROMEO
What is her mother?

Mercutio X Tybalt, doomed to tango

Mercutio and Tybalt cross swords 8 different times (Romeo and Juliet, Act 3 Scene 1) There have been 8 high budget filmed adaptations of Romeo and Juliet in 85 years. Never even 20 years between them. Some are filmed stage plays with big stars, and some big budget films with actors early in their career. Look for Alan Rickman as Tybalt in the BBC's 1978 version Or a baby Leonardo Dicaprio in Ba...

Buddy, Can you spare a dime? - Ian McShane (as Mr. Wednesday - American Gods)
I prefer the Robert Redford version. Cool, handsome, mysterious.
Just bought a copy of the 1949 version. Macdonald Carey reminds me too much of Nicholas Cage, lol. It's interesting to see the different spin some of the lines get. I'd say my chief complaint so far is that the pacing is off. Things move and escalate too quickly. There's no mystery to Gatsby's past or his relationship with Daisy. No big reveal. Even the meeting in the clip is undermined by the fact that it's how we're introduced to Nick, not Gatsby (we'd already met him and heard about his relationship with Daisy before he ever shows up). Interesting to see "The Maltese Falcon's" Wilmer Cook show up to play Klipspringer (a piano-playing gangster) in this one. Pretty big rewriting on some of the scenes, too.
Having studied literature and film and taught them for the past 25 years, I long ago came to the conclusion that "faithfulness to the book" is not the "plus" that people seem to think it is. You have to go with the strength of the medium you're using when you're making an adaptation of a preexisting work. A lot of what makes the book so special is the quality and character of Nick's narrative voice. That's unsuitable for film. Film is an inherently visual/auditory medium, so if you're making one, lean into that HARD, and make no apologies for it.
2013 = Cartoon Gatsby, and don't even try to compare Leo's smile to Bob Redford's. 2013 did get Tom and Catherine right.
Leo had a great introduction, but I just don’t see him a Gatsby. I personally preferred the way Robert played him, something about it felt better. Besides, I’m biased since I can’t stand how artsy the Leo one is.
1:55 LMFAO
This is why it's my favorite introduction alongside Leo's lmaoooo just. the casual mafia ahh punch takes me OUT
The costumes in this version were outstanding. And The Children of Dune they got even more acting talent for the mim series.
Wait there was guns in dune?
neve underestimate a child...😑😑
that child is pure evil (irl too🤕🤕
love that cheap camera shaking effect at the end🤪🤪
Is this a cut scene from the Van Damme Street fighter movie?
Not too far off from Beast Wars, Roughnecks and Dinotopia
This Feyd is as intimidating as a high school bully
This version of Alia bothers the f out of me. Yikes that voice is not good lol
00:29 me and the boys pulling up to see Dune 2 😂
I'll always love the biting off more than it can chew vibe for basic cable science fiction.
Feyd fights Muad'Dib and losses.
Alia kills the Baron who is her maternal grandfather.
Already watched Dune part 2 in the theaters. Can't wait to have it released online.
Let the storm have what it can take …
And people really gonna be out here saying this is better than Dune Part 2 😑
Dawg nobody here saying yhat
Honestly, it's a damn shame they didn't do God Emperor of Dune. I would loved to have seen what the heck James McAvoy's Leto II worm body would have looked like.
Sci-fi should do a re-run
Good acting!
Dune 2024: The empire underestimated the people they were oppressing and they used the might of the worms to cripple an entire militia. Dune 2000: Thank you Mr Worm for taking us to the battle bye we love you
I loved the bit in the book that describes the dead Baron still floating in the air. I was disappointed they changed that in the new film.
Don't you think it was goofy? I'm really glad Villeneuve changed it in the new movie.
@@darkseed2k9 What was goofy about it? The guy relied solely on his anti gravity device to get around. Stands to reason if you killed him he'd continue to float until someone shut him down.
@@chrishateley5582 It's obvious that anyone trying to kill him would break the anti-gravity device so that he cannot move, as it was done in the Dune 2 movie.
Bro wtf are those hats, I’m guessing that’s the Bene Gesserit😂
0:39 yesh the one in charge of the costumes were...confused, like those looks like if the witch trials of Massachusetts in 1669 had a baby with the elves from LOTR😂😂😂
still those hats much better than the childs one and in the movies, those mix of hijab w i dunno, looks ver menacing...🙈🙈🤐🤐😣😣
I like how the emperor looks like in the books descrpide, 80years old but still like eary 40s
Ok but low key, I prefer the panic in the imperial hall and the Bene Gesserit being like "fuck all y'all, we'll catch the reruns"
It's not very good, but at least the director did try to show how they got down off of the worm.
Bert Large really let power and money go to his head!
Lol! I thought I was only imaging that it was him! 😂
Sure, the whole budget for the 2000 miniseries was about what the Villeneuve 2024 version allocated for one lunch during shooting, but i really liked the look of the ornithopters, the Harkonnen fighters and the Sardaukar uniforms.
Those them age of empires level graphics
Still better than dune 2024 😂😂
This series was actually good although visually it was over the top. As far as telling the complete story and trying to stick to the book, it was good.
Everytime i watched this series, i remember those CGI RTS FMV cutscenes in Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri and Dune 2000
For 2000, this was pretty good though. especially for TV
The one from the 80s genuinely looks better with more work that the had to do
Don't worry kiddo, he'll be back
I just realized, Feyd is right there. Why's he so confused when Paul calls him "cousin"? He really should have suspected something after hearing Alia call the baron her grandfather.
In the novel, Feyd is not in this chapter with Baron and the Emperor. In fact, there is a line where Baron states that he along with Rabban were inspecting their perimeter around the Emperor’s tent. So, Feyd wouldn’t have heard this at all..
@@juergen_von_strangle I was specifically referring to the miniseries alone
This miniseries was not without its good points, I must admit. HOWEVER, I just can't watch this scene without thinking one thing: "WHERE'S THE DAMNED BATTLE PUG?!"
Why bother with the remake? This is perfect
At least this version was faithful to the books. No empowered Chani
I prefer the books; movie has a lot of issues. Chani isn't one of them. Having a voice of reason to spell out that what Paul's doing is morally gray is welcome for those audiences that miss the point. My issue with the movie is that don't show the Fremen naked.
This show kicks ass. Only dune adaptation that actually captured the political scope of the original material.
As it was written!
wtf is with the karate kid outfit

If the Harkonnen and the Sardaukar have guns. Why on Arrakis did they run at the Fremen, instead of just shooting them from a distance?
The short answer: it makes for a spectacular fight scene, on a shoe-string budget. Lots of running about, explosions, flailing. Lots of stuff happening on screen. Long answer: Even though this mini-series is very true to the plot of the first 3 books. I dont recall it explaining this particular issue very well. But I can try... In the novels, guns with chemical propellent anmo were completely outdated thanks to the Holtzmann shield technology. Nothing moving faster than ambient air gets through a force field. On most planets, land battles are usually fought with swords and knives, for this very reason ("The slow blade passes the shield. Fast on the defense, slow on the offense.") So most soldiers are trained to fight almost exclusively hand-to-hand. Using bladed weapons. The Sardaukar even profile themselves with using 3-man formations, to great effect in close quarters. On Arrakis, force fields are not a very good idea. Worms hate the vibrations from them, and are driven into a killing frenzy. So as a result, hardly any immgrant forces on Arrakis are routined in the practice of fighting without shields, and/or with guns... and also as a result, the Fremen DO have a long tradition of using guns in combat. Even though they dont have many. Then there was also the issue of the Sardaukar having gotten a bit lazy, having lived so long off of their larger-than-life reputation, as the Supreme Badass Army of the universe. Underestimating the Fremen. Which is ironic seeing how the Sardaukar and the Fremen are distant cousins. Both originating from the same people: the Zen-Sunni Wanderers. There are laser guns in this universe but laser + shield = a VERY bad day for everybody involved. So hardly anybody uses them, during the era of the first 3 books.
@@Wavemaninawe It just caught my attention: where is it written that Sardaukar are from Zen-Sunni Wanderers? They're supposed to be convicts recruited from Impreial prisons and trained in the unforgiving climate of Salusa Secundus.
@@Wavemaninawe Ah, OK makes sense now.
No comparison to Kyle McLachlan Dune of 1984.
I love how everyone in this version of Dune has a weird hat.
