Real name Christine. Nickname? Stine.
But like all people, I have many facets to my life and my husband came up with cute nicknames for all of them. When I'm at work, I'm Doctorstine. When I'm a mother, I'm Momstine. When I'm sleeping, I'm Sleepstine. When I'm sewing, I'm Sewstine.
I am a fulltime physician by trade, board certified and everything, and I love what I do, but by all means, I have many passions. I also have an adorable toddler, and two wonderful doggos named after MTG cards. I love tabletop gaming (I play SoB in Warhammer 40k), costuming, cosplay, digitizing historical embroidery, sewing, embroidering, drawing illustrations, novel writing, weaving trim, and of course, teaching all of it.
My favorite eras are 18th century (1740s to the 1780s), and the 1880s, but you'll notice I stray constantly, venturing into all sorts of other time periods, as well as modern day wardrobe. I'm all about doing things that bring me joy, since I think life is far too short, not to.

Making my Gown for the Grand Ball at Versailles || Sewing a Robe a la Francaise from the 1760s

Once a year at Versailles, they throw a ball called the "Fetes Galantes". This year, for the ball, I wanted to make a truly epic gown. In this video, I describe the different steps it takes to make a gown, including information from what I learned studying other gowns I got to study personally at museums. I tried to be as historically accurate as possible, other than my liberal use of sewing ma...

So glad you were able to find something and somewhere to settle. All that moving is stressful for the whole family!
As someone who is going to pursue med School next year ( after hopping off a very busy art degree ) i feel inspired and relieved because in my silly head doctors had no time and you had to give up hobbies haha. But your method is pretty much what i already do. Thank you for the video!
My sewing room is in my living room too. I love it. When I retired, I didn't think I'd be sewing very often, and I really don't. But I want it all set up and ready to go. Just today, a neighbor asked me to hem a skirt. 😊
Been watching you for awhile and all your moves. I love the sewing room and envy the space you have. Now let’s see the rest of the house when you’re settled in .
Thank you for comparing the dress forms ^^. I've been debating about the Bootstrap form and may still try it out one day. Also for the embroidery software and fabric tips. For the trashcan, if the sound gets to you, I wonder if killmat would help deaden the noise it makes
Is that a TITANIC model on your fireplace mantle?
Just a short critique on your video: I realize the need to discuss sponsorship, however the 6+ minutes dedicated to it were too long. I prefer videos that have a short intro then dive immediately into the “how to” portion of the video.Too much background information is distracting for me probably due to having ADHD. That said, it was informative to see your organization, storage methods and the steps involved in building your cutting table with storage below the table top. My sewing room is in my basement and is 1/4 the size of the perimeter of my house. It’s huge! A suggestion I have for the disorganized sewer is to organize your fabrics and supplies from day 1 and to continue to do so as you add fabrics and supplies, otherwise you end up with a cluttered and disorganized room. This is especially important for those of us who are organizationally challenged. You had several great tips and suggestions on materials and equipment used to construct your sewing space. Thanks for sharing!
I think your sewing needs a big beautiful mirror? The fireplace is beautiful backdrop to the room and gives some grandeur. Love your new space. Very lucky lady.
My heart went out to you whenever you mentioned a move in a post and I had to pause like "wait... AGAIN??" Crossing fingers that things have calmed down for you, and I'm so happy that you've had the time and energy to build yourself such a lovely sewing space!
Wouldn't you be able to do hooks to hang your historical costumes? I moved into a home built in 1911 that has been luckily untouched. 2 of the 5 ( yes five!) bedrooms have built in wardrobes. It was a bit awkward for our modern clothes because they are too narrow for modern coat hangers, but all of them are covered in coat hooks on the inside
💗💗💗💗💖💖💘
God I read that headline about anesthesiology and I can't even comprehend it. Us healthcare is a nightmare.
I love it, making the house work for you is the way to go. Great diy tips.
His dog as you love on it i think we know what's happening here 😂
Congratulations on your new home and sewing studio. I love how you have set it up especially the table with the storage. Definitely need The Swing or Madame De Pompadour for a little colour.
4 years ago I finally decided to give myself my dream sewing space...even though it would basically make my "entertaining guests" space disappear. . . And honestly, it was the best decision ever. My friends and family totally understood how happy using the space for sewing made me and they don't need me to entertain them (something I worried they wanted). Fully embracing being myself and making sewing easier by making it accessible really improved my life. I am glad embracing your families hobbies has also made yall happy as well
I also use my dining room as my sewing studio because I sew more than I entertain.
Ha! I have the same duvet cover. Although, I thrifted mine just last week.
My living room is way less elegant but the first thing people see when they walk in is our living room with a folding table as our coffee table and a giant wall of board games. We also do a lot of miniature painting on the table for those games. Our place is a 3 bed 2 bath condo so when we had parties we were always switching our coffee table with the folding table, after one party we just said w.e. it lives here now. It's just too convenientXD We'll upgrade eventually but for now it's cheap and extremely functional. Normalize interior design that makes sense for your home, not someone else's aesthetic!
Great video!! Sorry you have to move so much! Hope this is the place you stay for a while!! I think you should do the Swing mural again! That was very nice!
You are not alone! We use the living room on our main floor as a bedroom and our dining room for my office! Is it unconventional? Absolutely! However it provides the most comfortable set up for everyday living? It is a joy!!!
I have friend who turned his living room into his bedroom and his bedroom into his magical apothecary. When he has gusts we pile into he's bedroom and its a delight.
This is great! as a fellow gaming/sewing household who uses the living room as our space, I'd love to see how your husbands gaming setup ends up fitting in.
Congrats in your new home! Hope you won't be moving again anytime soon.:-) Lovely space! Georgina almost made me cry, I can't believe cuties like puppies and raccoons indeed exist. ❤
That is such a beautiful jacket 🤩.
Yayyy welcome to Chicago! I've lived here over 12 years and I still love it. :)
Wow thats a lot of moving 😱. Your new house looks lovely though so i guess it was worth it 😅. I vote for a madame de pompadour mural! Also congrats on your new puppy - I'm green with envy! You make such beautiful things i hope you'll be happy in your new sewing room.
Ok, we live in an 100 sqm2 apartment and my sewing room is in the living room. Our dining room is my cutting table. Most of my storage is reused ikea stuff.
My formal lounge is my sewing/craft room and my rumpus room is Mr long arm quilting room 😊
I do think the adage give anything that really needs to get done to a busy person is so true. You work a demanding job fulltime - have a hubby and little one along with puppers - move a ridiculous amount of time (moving is third for stress under losing a loved one and divorce - so moving six times in a short time would be very wearing on your body and mental state) and there you are getting through projects and thinking about murals. It's nothing short of amazing. I think your sewing spaces are lovely and efficient and very you 😊
Thank you so much for understanding! ❤️
your sewing rooms really really needs ME in it and you making me a glorious outfit. lol
how much would you charge for a fan like that? I would LOVE one....I have to keep a fan in my purse menopause....which means fan to cool oneself ....lol
i think your home should be how you live, no need for empty rooms to look good just for company, embrace who you are, as should your friends do also....no empty spaces to heat and cool.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT WONDERFUL BED??!!! that headboard is the most beautiful I have seen, like an art nouveau piece of art..did you ever watch that 90's movie Casper the friendly ghost? the house in the movie is in an art nouveau style, that bed reminds me of the movie.
Oh man! It’s my antiquing pride and joy! I found it in an auction house in Saint Louis! Thank you!!
I sew in the living room. It’s just me in a small house, so the big room with a sofa and a big TV seemed just right. Your room is so pretty though! I need to up my decor game.
Welcome to the city! Hopefully I’ll run into you at one of the costuming society events!
Yes!! That would be wonderful! Thank you for the warm welcome!
🎉nice! Glad you are feeling at home!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your video is, if nothing else, a treasure trove of information. Thank you so much for sharing all of this.
Wow…Your headboard is *STUNNING!!*
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am an atheist and I also pray God that you don't ever move again until and unless you really are ready!
And it has to be Madame du Pompadour!
Also an atheist and this is enough to make me say Please God No. 😂
Ra'men!
I love the idea of putting your passions and interests front and center in your home! I think we all get set into the idea that we have to have rooms that are what they are "meant for," like everyone who has a formal dining room that only uses it for holidays (great if that's your thing, but if not....use it for whatever you want!), or a spare bedroom that has a bed, even if you're not the type to have guests stay over. Your style is always terrific, and I hope you're able to stay in this space as long as you'd like, after all the moving.
This is so wonderful! I also now feel better about turning half of my living room into a craft room!
Is that the Titanic on the mantle? And did your husband paint it? It's very well done. Lovely space... fingers crossed you don't have to move again anytime soon.
Thank you! It is! It’s actually the Lego Titanic and my son and I built it together!
These kinds of videos are so interesting to me - I learn so much by seeing how others seamstresses organize their spaces and projects and why.
Congrats on the final move for a while, we hope!!! This is a fabulous space and my wife and I will definitely take some inspiration from your ideas as we combine our households and sewing supplies!
I loved looking through the bins on the shelves and remembering which costume it is by the colour alone.
Eeee! Thank you!
I live alone, my momma and grandma are in a better place. My sewing room is in what would be the family room of my doublewide Mobile home. My second bedroom is a guest room for family or friends. When guests come they can be in the living room and I can continue my sewing. Especially since my family always brings me alterations or other sewing!
Wow. I love how you have everything set up. Mostly, I love what you said about using your house to live you best life with your family's hobbies. That resonated. Thank you for sharing.
Lovely! Luxury! My space is very limited. I'm envious.
Nice set up and to be honest, I am seriously envious. My machines alternate between being on the dining table and being tucked under the table. I live with my adult sons and can't take over their apartment. It's amazing what we can come up with when having limits.
