I was just in Chicago downtown and spend 420 dollar in a restaurant with really bad Italian food. 62 dollars tip included. In USA I strongly recommend to stay in a place with a kitchen and cook yourself.

Just for scam people it’s not that hard.

Bro me and my family are in Rome and we saw this game to find which container has the pearl and people were betting money on it so my dad thought it was just a little fun game so he bet money on it and there was this guy who kept on saying, and I quote “ No game! No game! Just watch! “ and we couldn’t hear him so little did we know that person who was shuffling was a mafia and the people who were betting money were his gang acting like normal people to attract us to play so later they took the money and my dad realized that it was a scam and the guy who kept warning us pulled us out of their and explained that they were the mafia gang and before we could even call the police they had run away so that they would not get arrested 😢 I have another story so this guy with a bunch of bracelets came and asked us if we wanted to buy some we kept on saying no thank you over and over again but since he was Muslim like us he gave us three bracelets and luckily left before he asked us to pay so that time we got lucky And my last story is that we were eating at this restaurant where everything was in Italian and this guy with roses came to us and asked us if we wanted to buy some we said no thanks and luckily he left so we got lucky again but now I know that in Rome there is lots and lots of scamming and scammers so yea and also we did not know about these scammers because where we live scammers don’t show up to you so yea anyway stay safe out there guys!! The Peruvian street is absolutely a negotiation culture. If you don't haggle, you're going to have a bad time. Never be afraid to give a hard "no" if pressed or a softer "no" with a an air of dismissal if offered a terrible deal. If prices are written, you can take them or leave them (and there is always another option), but if they aren't, you need to ask up front.

bueno eso no es solo por ser extranjero, es también por el aspecto, ejemplo al ser colorado te suben el precio en muchas cosas por eso es preferible comprar en supermercados con precios fijos, o tener vendedores conocidos sino siempre te venden mas caro que a un peruano promedio(trigueño, moreno)

Thanks for this very useful video as I'll be going to Peru for my 1st time this May. You mentioned using Uber instead of taxis which make sense but I'm wondering if this is possible from both the Lima and Cusco airports when arriving for the first time. I heard that many airports do not allow Ubers to pickup at the airports. What's your recommendation for transits into the city from the airports?

Not to mention that you went to an expensive Supermarket. I think you can get that for less than $7.0 in others.

I went to Rome this past November and it was everywhere. Like others have said, act as if they don’t even exist. Don’t look at them, don’t acknowledge them, keep your conversations with your travel partners going, don’t stop walking, etc. If they forcefully put something in your hand, don’t grip it - let it fall to the ground. If they shove it in your hand a second time, throw it HARD in the opposite direction and keep walking. We found the African bracelet scam outside the Colosseum exit to be the worst of the worst. You have to be prepared for this beforehand or you will be caught off guard. Most people’s natural friendliness and kindness result in at least a smile or a head nod. You cannot afford even that. I am so glad I knew about this ahead of time and was prepared. It’s the first thing I tell people about visiting Rome. Why the police haven’t cracked down I’ll never know.

Great advice. But, the people who come into your space with flowers, clipboards, cards saying they're deaf, asking if you speak English, etc., are part of the pickpocket scams. So be aware of your space and who is around you at all times. Saying "no thanks" - right, not necessary because you are Prey to such people.

Los taxistas que estan estacionados a la espera de un pasajero siempre te van a cobrar más , incluído a los peruanos, peor si estan en el aeropuerto. Son abusivos y es mejor ignorarlos. En estos dias los servicios de Uber estan muy baratos ya hasta da pena pagarles esa tarifa, los venezolanos han aumentado mucho la oferta.

Just came back from Italy trip.Good video.Almost got pickpocketted inside a tram by an old guy.Thought he was just getting up for his stop.then felt his hand going thru my purse.yelled at him and gave him the stare. He apologized afterwards. My husband almost got scammed to by a guy engaged him in a conversation.Guy reached out to shake his hand then his bracelet came off.My hubby was gonna pick it up when i called him to go.I guess when ur a tourist and u are just tired you do forget to be aware of ur surroundings.Stay vigilant but enjoy the beautiful historical places in Italy

Some dogs that you saw surely are stray, but a lot are actually someone's pet. That's how we keep them in Peru, roaming free, they know the way home. And I truly believe that's more human than keeping them in small apartments 24/7 with a 10 minutes walk out once a day.

In all these scams with fake centurions, people handing you things over, scamming you in the streets, etc... are NOT Italians. Americans are not very good at differentiating an Italian, a French, a Corsican, or a Greek with a immigrant from Northern Africa or the Middle-East.
