I do appreciate the awareness from this company. I enjoyed the overall tone and and can see why it would be important to this brand to not be perceived as cheap, mass produced shite, and sense maybe some regret at the direction they took in mass production, which according to the comment section here, inevitably lowered their brand’s quality or even just perceived quality. I’ve never been able to afford buying anything from Patagonia and was also turned off from the brand initially when I saw the kind of people buying it. Rich, smug, holier than thou climbers and hikers decked out in Patagonia and Arcteryx that wouldn’t give a poor dirtbag like myself the time of day. It’s gotten harder as I’ve gotten older to keep thrifting my clothes as I increase the intensity of my outdoor activities. It’s hard to ice climb and backpack in thrifted jeans that soak through and freeze your legs, but it’s also hard to bite the bullet and invest in nicer clothes when I see these same rich people complaining that their $1000 pants or jacket just tore after one use. For now, I’ll continue my winter shenanigans in subpar clothes and cross my fingers that l’ll get lucky and find some nice Patagonia or similar quality gear when thrifting.

I just want to explain that “the taxpayer money pays for it” isn’t actually true. The Federal Government creates funds by computer keystrokes. They don’t pay for things by Taxpayers money. That’s why we have a 34 trillion dollars “debt “ that doesn’t need to be paid off. The Dollar is a Fiat currency. Learn how it works by studying MMT Economics. The Documentary “Finding the Money “ is a good start!

*Boycott:* Much simpler than trying to remember the long loooong lists of what not to buy, and for whatever specific reasons, _is to try and limit what one actually does buy:_ buy no-name brands from small local companies (addresses usually on the labels), buy local foods (farmers markets), buy locally produced or handmade items, otherwise buy fair trade wherever and whenever possible. It is not a perfect strategy, but don't get sidelined by the whiners/finger pointers who will invariably ALWAYS show up like clockwork, trying to ridicule or nag with their dumb "...duh but your using a smartphone," or "but, but, but...your using oil toooo"-gotcha style distractions. It is not MEANT to be perfect... *Methodology:* JDI and make it a _long term lifestyle,_ not just a short-term knee-jerk trend, because of some or other upsetting event in the news. Just refuse products from ALL corporations, as far as personally convenient and possible, and always remember that even if only 75% of all the people on the planet only get it right about 75% of the time, on roughly 75% of everything they buy, it will finally make a massive difference for all the causes you also value. Want to bring the boys home? Do you wish to limit military actions to becoming multinational, following the principles of international law only, and independent of any corporate interests. Do you wish to contribute to end western imperialist actions and meddling all over the world? You wish to contribute a small share to forcing Israel into a negotiated peace process? Do you wish to give small local companies a better chance in the dog-eat-dog capitalist world in your country? *Do you wish to fight meddling globalist empires?* _Join the trend towards minimalism, because the international cross-border politically influential GLOBAL ELITES only REALLY start "caring" (sic.) when their pockets start hurting._ 👍👋

They never needed Dams. They are made to control the people. It has nothing to do with saving water or making power. They could have used a portion of the river for that. Without the rapids, the rivers can't rejuvenate, the fish cannot spawn and the sand and gravel can no longer form or maintain the beaches, causing even more erosion. Dams are one of the biggest ecological disasters of all time. If not the worst, because the damage is so vast, breaking down the whole food chain. I am so happy about this documentary. This is what I have been telling as many people as I can, for as long as I can remember. Man-made lakes in the USA are covering Indigenous villages. Period. Then, they fill the rivers with hatchery fish, breaking down the systems even further. The Klamath River is doing so much better, but the "Iron Gate Dam" has stupid people trying to protect the Dam. They are so stubborn, selfish, greedy, and closed-minded, that they can't see the benefits of free-running rivers, because they are making money from the rivers being altered. The fake fishing industry supports the hatcheries. We didn't know how much damage Dams were doing when they were built, but we know now and should change it, but people don't like change, especially when they are profiting from it. When the rivers die, we die. Slowly. I am so proud of the women standing their ground. I have tears of joy. They are truly Heros! I cry for our rivers every day when I turn on the news and they say: "Another river has been polluted by oil or mining. This altering rivers has got to stop if humans want any kind of future for our children and grandchildren. Thank You to all of the people who help make this possible. I have felt alone on this subject for years now. I get called names and told I'm trying to stop progress, but I know what I am feeling is correct. I have proof, so it's more than just a feeling. I am Native American from Talaqua Oklahoma and we have been victimized by the government since the beginning and Dams made the extermination of our people a possibility. No water, no life.

Feel like Patagonia is missing the mark more and more each year . This feels like to was produced by Netflix (not a compliment) . Bring back your old film producers like the Malloys. Maybe it’s because I’m over 42 and this ad is aimed at the tik tok generation. I’ve been a long time Patagonia supporter but feel like it’s lost its core. I loved the worn wear series. But alas those products are from when the focus was on quality - the Patagonia items I have from the mid 2000’s still good but the recent items have all lacked quality

I've worked in outdoor retail since 1992. Back then, much stock was made onshore, and the store would employ 10 staff. 40 years on, there's greenwashing, enviro flag waving (while each item is packed in plastic bags). The staffing numbers are a third - and KPIs are much much greater.

Why does a film on us keeping our clothes longer need to include a lesson on evolutional theory? I love your brand and love that you try to ladder up to a larger cause. But this feels like a broader agenda than environmentalism. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I don't need to subscribe to bunch of different ideas to want to do good things for our planet. All issues don't need to be tied together. Let the brand be the brand, support the earth, let's do good. You don't need to pick all the fights. In this way you are actually hurting your primary cause.

I like a lot of the Patagonia docs, but the commentary in this one was trying too hard. Wayyy too hard. Enough with the bad punch lines and just let the content keep us interested. If we, the people, planned to sit and watch a Patagonia doc, we’re doing so because we’re interested in the topic. Wayyy too many attempts at comedy. Also, I supported the comment above re the shift in Patagonia over the years. Some decisions are more ethical, but generally still very much a mass production company now.
