EQ6-R pro upgrade in 15 minutes without taking it apart!
This is a simple guide on how you can get better performance and ease of use out of your new Eq6-R pro. My hope is it helps people with lighter set ups get proper balance. And maybe even better overall tracking. The mount is amazing and this trick will make it even better.
Big shout out to Skywatcher who makes the mount and to a channel called -Explore Learn share- for bringing this trick to You tube.

      @joihaynes9315 It has been a long time since I switched over to a vape device from the vape shops. They work 10000 times better and are way cheaper in the end. Plus, the juice has better flavors and can have the nicotine lvls adjustable to fit your specific needs. And even slowly lower until you wing off completely if need be.

      @joihaynes9315 But if it is the same as when I was doing it. You just need to work the metal back and forth slowly until it pulls straight off. They may have made them different, so you can't refill them anymore. I'm not saying they did. I just haven't seen one in a long time, so I can't say if that's the problem or not.

    Thank you, I will save this video to a bookmark. With Canada's potential all-out flavour ban 2024, 95% of vape shops will be forced to close. Leaving only the crappy Big T devices and pods of pre-filled with repulsive e-liquids in "cigarette" flavour. As the only options to buy. Having DIY'ed my own e-liquid for years, I have stocked up on supplies as much as I can. These hacks for re-using these pods are essential to remaining smoke-free. Over-regulation and fear-mongering NGO groups, claiming to save youth from addiction. Have zero clue, what the consequences of their action will do. It will all go back to the early days, over 16 years ago, when vaping was born in the underground, with innovators. Who fashioned their own mods, and created their own e-liquids. Using safe supplies. As an advocate for the THR tobacco harm reduction cause for 10 years, over the past 8 years I have seen Canada, go from fair regulation to outright de facto bans. As flavors are what keep adults smoke-free, and help them maintain their smoke-free lifestyle. And avoid a relapse back to cigarettes. Thanks for the video. If you vape, advocate! #THRWorks

    Awesome video! I have the AZ-EQ6R Pro - as someone else commented they have. I’m very new to this whole hobby - I have the SVBony 550 122mm and a 30mm SVBony guide scope with the ASI 120mm-S. I only have a non-modified Canon DSLR to dork with for the time being. I’ll have to see how the AZ-EQ6R Pro is for these adjustments. Keep up the great work - you have a great teaching ability. Just a comment: in mechanical systems, backlash can actually improve accuracy. In battle tanks, the weight of the main armament and the loading mechanism/breech behind it, enclosed inside the turret, there is always a bit of backlash. When aiming the main armament, we always finished our 'lay' in depression, meaning that we would elevate the gun slightly between firing the large rounds, and then depress the gun until it was back to our aiming point. This relied on mechanical backlash. Our results were excellent, and it improved our accuracy. I believe that the same principles can be used on telescope mounts. Letting the scope be slightly unbalanced, say to the tune of about three or four ounces, will ensure that the scope moves at the same rate on either side of the declination or RA scale. When it goes over the top, it will tilt the other way the distance of the mesh gap, but stay there, just as it did on the other side of TDC for the coordinates being used.

    My EQ6-R Pro was reaaaally tight in RA when I got it, so much so that it was hard to find good balance, but I have a vey light setup on it so guiding hasn't been all that bad the past year I've used the mount. Finally got around to do this and following your very clear instructions, it was not difficult at all. It so much looser in RA after this adjustment which will make it a lot easier to find the correct balance. Thank you for this. Once these clouds disappear, I'll see how my guiding is.

    I'd be willing to bet that if you put a scope on there that was closer to the mount's maximum capacity, you'd find you've introduced play into the system.

    • @astroadventures3559
      @astroadventures3559 Před rokem

      I've tested and had a bunch of people test this method and haven't had anyone complain of any play introduction. But not to say it can't happen. Just that all of the feedback has been positive. And I'm sure if you back it off to much you could absolutely add some slack to it. But it's as simple as using the same method to tighten it a little to take the play back out if you upgrade to a bigger rig. I usually run off results and not speculation. And all of the test I've done and people are reporting on this video are positive results. So if you find something different after trying it, please feel free to share those results. Maybe in a video so we can see your findings though.

    Thank you . Can you recommend a battery to run this mount. Ugh! Someone told me a Celestron power tank would work . Nope the plug is different. Why in the Haeckel do they not supply a power supply when you give them over $2,000????

    • @astroadventures3559
      @astroadventures3559 Před rokem

      Man I struggled with that as well. I just wanted a simple answer, and everything was confusing trying to find a good power source. But if you go to Amazon they have a good power plug for it. It takes the car lighter plug on one side and wall🔌 for the other side. Then I used a power converter that you can buy at Walmart. It does jump starting as well. Witch is good because I use a AC/DC converter for my computer and everything else. That one hooks up to my truck battery and I screwed it down to the top of my air cleaner. But you don't want to leave your truck running the whole time you're out there. So that's why it's nice to have the jump/ converter to run some of the other stuff.

It's called a pin wrench. That should do the trick. They really over tighten those things. And that's why we have the problem with the stickiness. Hope this helped a little at least. Joe, Great video. My mount was very stiff as well after it came back from a repair. The dec adjustment was easy. Moving the black smooth 'nut' when adjusting the RA proved to be a problem for me as well. I put a piece of gaffer's tape around the smooth surface and that allowed the rubber belt wrench to grip. Any residue from the tape was removed with a quick wipe with acetone on the cloth. I also found taking off the screw to adjust the angle of the mount in the back out gave me more room to get a better grip on the black 'nut'.
