Have you ever heard the Diana TC or DZ? If so, do either of them do better for the aspect you mention of sounding more real like you are there? That’s also my pursuit in audio, a realistic at the performance like sound with immersive soundstage. If you haven’t heard those two, are there any headphones that did this sense of realism better for you?

Major difference between open and closed, that no one actually mention. Is that Open when listening to anything other then some fps shooter will sound like opera house! And i am not exaggerating. That is entire point of open headset. Sound is not going directly into your ear but out-of-phones and around your head. In my honest opinion , open headset should never be used for anything other then First person shooter games and even then closed one would do just fine! For everything else, open are simply put an atrocity!

FYI - they were marketed as the “Clip”. Still one of the best ways to carry your music w/o having to deal with your phone…bonus is that you are off the grid and cant be tracked for marketing :)

Thanks for the review. Do you recommend this for using only as Bluetooth receiver? I would connect it to a separate dac, maybe an ifi zen blu would be better? I use tidal and CZcams music with my android smartphone linked to chord mojo and a wireless device would be more comfy

Hi there, thanks for the review. Could you also let me know if this device gives a connection or disconnection sound? I’m looking for a DAC without that. I just want to connect via bluetooth and don’t need an annoying connection or disconnection beep. Had a few other brands that I had to return because of this and I’m now using the boobboom 80, great device but lesser bluetooth range coverage. Cheers

Thanks for this review as I've only owned my Maxwell for a couple of weeks for gaming on my Xbox Series X and I'm definitely ordering the Dekoni Sheepskin version now and you have earned a subscription.

Had a VMV ESS dac for two years. Over time I realized that the trebles were indeed pushed forward giving the illusion of more resolution, but it was actually less balanced. Particularly noticeable when listening to orchestral music. Now have the D70 Octo and that balance is restored. Still has good resolution, but with a more natural presentation and tonality. Not overly bass heavy, just more equal than in the ESS presentation, more rounded and palpable.

If ZEN DAC 3 sounds more warm, that means treble are lower present and bass higher present? i want this DAC, but i want better trebles too, not lower. I have Audinst HUD MX2 now.

I have HD 598 many years, but mostly time i prefer for music and game/movie sounds monitors Eris E5, because they sounds just better. I agree this headphones are too lowend today.

It was hell to get the 8k receiver to work, but after it started working another problem appeared. The side buttons don't work properly for example, if I bind the letter "L" to the side button, press it and keep it pressed, the button stops working as soon as the mouse is moved and I have to press it again

Had a glorious model o but I wanted to get a wireless mouse. while doing so I got a viper v3 which is so much better just 45 minutes charge for it to get to 100% which 90 hours of battery life and it fits my palm even better while being able to accommodate the side buttons so they aren’t to close since I have larger thumbs I’m prone to accidentally clicking both with my model O since they were so close and the model Os holes were just prone to get filled with dust and dirt

Love mine. To add playlists I use Mojave on a Mac. It's the last OS that had iTunes. Then Apple split it into TV & Music.

Nice review! I just got the orchestra lites via amazon prime deal days for $200 and man I love the sound but they physically KILL my ears after 15 mins of wearing them. Like they hurt A LOT. I know I will be returning them and these are the ones I am thinking about getting to replace.
