Yes I also think that teachers should be teaching Mardala ukuta as well

the additional dance grammar has been expanded by the gurus and scholars at the odissi research centre. see the 2 pathfinder books for some. the additional mudras of odissi were compiled but not published but i have taught them in workshops. you should learn the mardala bols for everything you learn and my student Vishwanath Mangaraj is as expert in mardala as he is in dance and can also teach clearly all the talas, bols as well as dance. you might like to contact him as he gives online classes 9no classes in july as we are both traveling after our 3 consecutive 10 day june workshops) vnathmangaraj@gmail.com or whatsapp at +919716534748

@@SharonLowen1that means I need to learn the syllables separately from Mardala teacher. Why the syllables are not compact with the dance steps which can learn during the basic dance steps only?

@@1nilu1 See I am Odissi learner.. so Whenever I geta any chance of knowing what's happening in the world of Odissi.. I seek such seminars and podcasts.. and there is barely anyone... I helped knowing the dance form's condition in a better way.. what are trends in the field of Odissi and obviously there are many stories of the past associated with these seminars as well right? Like how gurus taught.. etc etc. and I came to know about Chhau's history as well Mayurbhanj Saraikela.. Odishan Paika traditional dance emerging as chau.. and many things about Bhartanatyam as well !!

@@sabitapanigrahi1197 I am also an Odissi dancer and the information here and what u learnt is very basic and is available on many other youtube channels and across the internet. I am actually frustrated listening repeatedly to these academics who just want to speak about the outskirts of the art without actually improving or evolving it. I want to see innovations and ground breaking choreographies form gurus and professionals but all I see are these people talking into a mic without anything of substance at all, just want the limelight of an audience and camera and lecture. Whats the point? Odissi is a dying art form and holding talks and lectures is not going to revive it, we need real artists and creatives who can revolutionise this space and physically and practically take it to an international level. It needs to grow from the branches not from the roots

@@1nilu1 and you should search Odissi seminar and you'll get a few to watch which are actually very interesting!! And in seminars they don't teach or perform choreographies.. they talk on stuff

@@1nilu1 well well it's a seminar for a reason and they ain't perform in seminars rather talk on things and obviously there are audience from everywhere who may or may not the basics about Odissi so obviously they'll talk on it

The singer was most likely part of the Triveni Ballet, New Delhi troupe of Guru Singajit Singh in 1974 or 75 when I recorded what I had been taught

I have audio cassette recordings, but have never properly transcribed and translated. I would be grateful if you could help identify the gurus and what they are demonstrating and why as far as you can tell from the video. it is a rare documentary. I specially only included all the Seraikella stalwarts and not any of the Delhi dance scholars as I wanted them to share what they agreed and disagreed upon iwthout outside opinions shaping the discussions.
