A Latin and Ancient History teacher by day, when I'm not at school I love talking about books! I primarily read adult Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I especially love swashbuckling adventure fantasy, Discworld, and military fantasy. Some of my current favorite series are The Greatcoats, the Books of Babel, The Black Company, and, of course, The City Watch Discworld novels.
I love challenges and games, though I rarely win these, so am forced to partake in horrible punishments. I'm much better at real-life board games.
I love the Lord, my wife, and my pets. I hope you enjoy your stay here at the Library!

Hey, folks! So, I know it's been a while since my last upload and a lot of that is dealing with the newborn and also a broken collarbone, but part of it is just feeling overwhelmed. I've been playing a lot of games recently and some of the most fun I've had has been streaming and having my buddies and fans of the channel come on live and comment while I'm playing. Don't worry, though, I still r...

The Eternal Book Haul Continues From the FUTURE! | A New Challenger Appears!
I just finished this book today so I'm finally listening to the spoiler section. I'm at the part where everyone talks about Nathair being a good person...... I'm confused, are we forgetting that he murdered his dad?
Better late than never! Nice to see Daughter of the Empire on there. I DNF'd Beartown - the story felt ripped from the headlines of something that happened in my hometown, which made it even more realistic (disappointingly so). I'm looking forward to that "Top 10 Books So Far" video now! 😂
Incredibly late to the party, but as someone who's watched around fifty seasons of Taskmaster, this is fantastic!
Hello, just wanted to say thanks as I just finished " A Shadow in Summer" based solely on your continious recommendation. Also wanted to ask if you read or have an opinion on the Tom Holland History Books like Rubicon: The Last Years of the Roman Republic or Dynasty: The Rise and Fall of the House of Caesar or Persian Fire: The First World Empire and the Battle for the West... As someone who has studied Modern Japan(History Politics, Language & Culture, (Ancient) History I am glad there is a CZcamsr my age with at least similiar interests :)
That explains why I liked Lustrum a bit more than Imperium.
Tell us who you really feel

INSIDE EVERY GOVERNMENT FOUNDED BY MEN HERE ON THIS WORLD OF MEN .. IT WILL CONTINUE ..UNTIL THE END OF THIS WORLD .. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR ROBERT HARRIS .3RD SERIES .. " THE DICTATOR " * ONLY IN GOD'S - JESUS HIS BEGOTTEN SON .WHO WILL REIGN ..IN THE NEW EARTH AND HEAVEN ..,,THESE EVILNESS OF TWINS .. POWER -& WEALTH THAT POLITICIANS ARE SO HUNGRY TO DEVOUR ..WILL THERE BE REAL JOY .PEACE ..AND GLORY IN GOD'S NEW KINGDOM ..❤❤❤❤
Allen this video is so good, your impersonations, your passion and stories…I read Wyrd Sisters after watching your Guards! Guards! video with Dr. Chase. I enjoyed this story so much! My favorite part is the first time Granny attends a play!
Hope you like it!
🔥🔥🔥
1) Stoner 2) Will of the Many 3) Mother of Learning Arc 4
The people want to know!
I wish my notifications would work so I'd get to experience this upon release. I miss the boosh!
Omg I’ve got about 70 pages left of wickwire watch. I’ve never seen anyone talk about it. Bought it based on cover alone. Really liking it. Middle slowed a tad with the introduction of all the city characters but can’t wait to continue the series
I’ve read six of these!!🎉🎉 with two on my tbr!
Hi Allen. The only problem with watching other CZcamsrs channels is that it only increases the tbr. So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you.
Just start at color of magic and read all the way through. They are fast, easy, compelling reads.
Haha, funny that I was one of those who recommended Monarchies of God to you but still haven't read it! I'm still hyped though and all the more because you liked it!
I also want to get into some Rome fiction, cause I liked the HBO series so much. Glad you liked Imperium, I Claudius and Augustus. From what I've heard, Colleen McColough's Masters of Rome (possibly the most historically accurate?), Gore Vidal's Julian and Steven Saylor's Roma novels, which are basically detective novel in ancient Rome, are also supposed to be up there.
Please for the love of god use the chapters feature youtube gives access too to everyone when you make a top 5 orr 10 or however many video.
I miss Jeopardy! 😭😭😭
Agreed, The Ravenmark series is great.
The first 4 Monarchies of God books were $2.99 each on kindle so I of course impulse bought them after watching your video. (The fifth may have been as well, I wouldn’t know as I didn’t even consider looking at the 5th. Someone told me that it’s not needed)
Just finished this book and absolutely LOVED it!! Will be reading the rest!
I hung on your every word. Thank you. Really wish there was a part 2.
I have read and loved two of the four readalong trilogies you did last year--Empire Trilogy and Engineer Trilogy. I really like the Risen Kingdoms trilogy. And yes, I had read all 3 trilogies before 2023. I have no idea how many times I've read the Empire Trilogy. Your description of the Cicero trilogy in this video has finally made me add it to my TBR. One of my library apps has books 1 & 2. The other has book 3. No idea when I'll get to it though. Lol
What's this guy's name?
the Risen Kingdoms was a fun series! all 3 books get 4 stars from me
I did read Beartown, and I have to agree with your opinion.
Interesting. Can writers not write a friggin standalone anymore? I do not want to be bogged down in series any longer or read thru poor 1st book to get to good 2nd or read thru whole series only fir series to end on pitiful last book. I also liked Daughter of the Empire as well. Read it as a standalone. Will not continue series. Was fantastic. Going to check Imperium for sure.
I hate how the Engineers Trilogy is not available on Kindle.
Time warp - I agree that it’s still March. I approve
Love that you posted this no matter how “late” it is 😆
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance I'm like the post office. Neither rain nor sleet nor it being July
Thank you for this review- I've been on the fence, but your passion helped me make my decision. Getting this, and looking forward to it!
It's so good!
Same here.
Also 100% bought imperium with your passion for it 😂
Yesssss, it's one of the best political thrillers I've read
I came on recently from your black company vids! Stoked to see you’re back
Oh thanks! Glad you're here!
You never fail to pique my interest!! My top 2 books of 2023 were A Brightness Long Ago and The City of Saints and Madmen. They tied, for me.
I want to read Brightness so bad!
But also Slayyyyy, this top ten list literally changed my brain chemistry, Shakespeare got nothing on this tier ranking, favorite booktube video of the year?! lol🤣
@@Bepeuthebookworm hahahahahahahaha such a good callback
Woo hoo, so many new books to add to the tbr!
Yesssss!
Everything I've heard about Beartown suggests it's amazing and that I cannot read it right now. My life (and the world...) is too much already for me, I can't add more misery, lol.
This is a very accurate description
Kind of a slim reading year for me last year, but my top three were: The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran The Road by Cormac McCarthy The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell
My Top Ten from 2023 Tiamat's Wrath Words of Radiance Boy's Life The Final Empire The Way of Kings The Never-Ending End of the World Rhythm of War Oathbringer Goldfinger The Troop
I love this. It would be even better if you dont even mention that you are late. Just roll with it 😂
YEEEESS he's back!! Love that list, I have many titles on my TBR, and Daughter of The Empire and the Cicero trilogy were also among my favorite reads of 2023. I loved Dictator the most, but it wouldn't have been the case without the build-up from the other two installments (I gave 5⭐ to each of them), and now that it's been a year, you made me so excited to pick it up again so I can read them with my husband! Though we just started Shogun (I had read part I and put it down so we could read it together and he was finally convinced 💪) and reading it out loud will take quite a few months I'm sure. 😅 Craddock's series sounds 100% up my alley, I can't wait to give it a chance, as well as K. J. Parker (I have Folding Knife on my Kindle patiently waiting) and some swashbuckling. 👌I've also slowly been working my way through LPQ (I read A Betrayal in Winter in May I think, and though I wish the political intrigue was more fleshed-out, I'm still thinking about it -- you know when there's a situation in a novel you can apply to real life circumstances... well that was perfect timing) and will be continuing soon. I seem to always enjoy the books you recommend, though I've been putting off Mistress of the Empire because I have a feeling I'll be disappointed (book #2 after all this time was just fine to me and I know you weren't a fan of the epilogue 😬). Please let us know what you're currently reading and if you have any readalong plans this year (I really need to go back to your Discord, sorry), maybe we have some common reads lined up. And most importantly: will you ever be reading The Gentleman Bastards?! I need to read book #2 and knowing you're on board would motivate me even more. 😂
I will check out The engineer trilogy, The Risen Kingdom trilogy, Daughter of the Empire and Crowfall
Sea of Rust by Robert Cargill, Feed by Mira Grant, Wool by Hugh Howey, The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo, Elmore Leonard "City Primeval", Susanne Clark Pirates, Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton
Jonathan Stroud "Bartimaeus", "Day Zero by Robert Cargill
Pretty sure I noticed a few sneeze edits in this one 🤧 good to be back! Past Allen did us a solid by recording, present Allen edited and hit the upload button. Go team! 😆
Great to see ya back, look forward to your 2024 midyear tag in January 2026!
Lovely to see this pop up on a very nerve wracking day for me personally. Always appreciate you. Excited to finally give Raven’s Mark a go. 2023’s top 3: A Storm of Swords Cloud Atlas Toll the Hounds (please forgive me)
