MSRA: SJT Common Question Themes to Score high in MSRA SJT
I’ve been looking on every website. There’s literally nothing that doesn’t need prior experience. I’ve submitted over 20 applications. Not one interview. So it is saturated. There’s not even any posts available rn
is it really hard to get into training jobs [CST/IMT"CT1"] like the average years I'm gonna work in service Jobs is really that much till I'd bee accepted in training as most are claiming [4Years]?
Refer to these: czcams.com/video/laTsjIQMRJg/video.htmlsi=ZByiu7EyAjkp00-B czcams.com/video/J2xF9i_VOg0/video.htmlsi=1PTghLPMb7E0Oc8t Every speciality has a different competition ratio, it is very easy to get into psych, GP and for IMT a bit more work but easily achievable. Surgery and any surgical allied field is harder however with more work it is also possible.
hello dr anna, so once you accept a job in your preferred deanery ,they wont switch it to another afterwards right ?like during any part of your training?
No they won’t, it’s like a USMLE match, unless you ask them to due to extenuating circumstances
Really great video.. I had a doubt regarding the crest form So I was working in a hospital from 2/5/22- 1/5/24. I wanted to get my crest form signed from consultant but in between I took leave for observership and plab 2 So I have the experience with consultant from 1/7/23- 17/10/23 and from 18/10/23- 18/1/24 I was in UK for plab 2 Then again experience from 19/1/24- 1/5/24 So should I mention the experience from 1/7/23 to 1/5/24 or should I mention it twice with the gap visible? Really confused about this...pls help with this query
Depends on your employment status during the leaves, and if they were rotation.
@@DoctorAnnaa THANKS FOR THE REPLY DOC. Yes i was employed for 2 years and to mention .. it was not a rotation rather working in the OPD and attending on calls after the OPD timings.. so should i mention both or any of these is fine..?
Hi doctot ,im very confused after passing plab 2 i have build up my portfolio and crest form both?
Hi doctor Anna, can you make videos on how to write good supporting information? I’ve been trying to land a job since 1 year and I still haven’t received a single interview. It kinda makes me want to give up on this whole process. 😢
Really good video. You burst UK saturation bubble. Actually WAKE UP LOOK AROUND YOUR,u will find every place is saturated & you have to make your own way to get into anything.
I have completed my post in july 2023. So what should i mention as completion date. Is it the date of signature - july 2024 or it is in july of 2022. Please help me with this query.
Date is usually date of signature. But you have a lot of difference in all three. So mention correctly in the boxes for rotations etc.
what about the ">18months - Overqualification" for the Core training is it really a problem? and how could someone avoid it
It is a problem and you shouldn’t work in the field you want to apply.
So three of my consultants have expired pmdc, because in Pakistan no one really checks , it's just about paying the five yearly fee really, to up date it. One of my consultant has applied for renewal of pmdc, shall I attach the old plus applied for copies?
I wouldn’t risk it. Use someone who is registered fully, you don’t want CREST to be rejected
@@DoctorAnnaa got it Thank you so much doctor Anna 💕for always getting back 🥰
Thankyou so much ❤️ for this
really good video please make more videos love love
Thanks. I have a question regarding the upgrade. Upgrade can only happen once or may step up multiple times? For example, if we get an offer for our 5th rank, then our 4th and 3rd ranks become available, which one we will be offered?
Correct. There is a shuffle every 24-48 hours, it happens 2-3 times only depending on speciality. Once the deadline closes no more shuffling and posts go empty that were left unfilled. I’ll explain more in an upcoming video.
@DoctorAnnaa thanks a lot. The round 2 application is approaching. We need to rank wisely
Do refer to the ranking videos, it will help you, if you rank properly, you can safely opt for upgrade option.
If i be honest i cant do acute medicine and ED as my first non training job in uk? Where else can i apply like i GP psych??
There is non training jobs for GP and psych plus they won’t really help with understanding the NHS, unless you want to them as your choice of specialist training.
@@DoctorAnnaa yup I want to do GP training
Hey. Does FY2 has any link with crest form signing? If i cant get it signed in my country then i will do FY2 and signed it in uk or i can apply for non training job?
You don’t need CREST form for non-training jobs. Please refer to the video.
I am scared of ED. I dont want to do ED as my first job in NHS😮
Is this for trainee or non trainee?
What is COS?
You are ACCS right?
You are from which country?
I did anesthesia in housejob too. 🎉🎉
❤❤
Thanks for the video doctor, excellent advise Could you quote your year of first job application? and the time between PLAB 2 and your first job?
What guidance are you talking about we should read, could you post a link? Or are you talking about gmc good medical practice?
GMC guidance is good medical practice and they also release separate awareness documents. Refer to the video about the sjt book I have explained there further.
Dear Anna, Thank you ❤
Please can you make a video on the sites to use when applying to non training jobs with a pathway to anaesthesia
Thanks so much for this timely video, currently in the same position, not much on CV, yet to write Plab 2 though. But will keep believing despite the discouraging news flying around
Thank you so much Dr Anna Please when can we get the video about how to rank the Deaneries
It really helped! You mentioned psych and GP, there is no msra in IMT as well. We can enter IMT directly on paper, but is it practical or doable? Thank you
Glad it helped. Psych and GP both need MSRA. IMT I think doesn’t need it but do confirm. Anything is doable if you accept the challenges. It won’t be easy, I won’t recommend it. Because portfolio building can be tricky for ST4 Medicine specialities, if you haven’t done a trust grade year and learned the ropes well.
Thank you Anna ❤ that was so transparent and genuine
Thanks a lot. This video answered a lot of questions.
Thank you !! Just a quick question…I will finish 2 years postgraduate internship in Japan by March 2027. Am i eligible to apply for MSRA exam in November 2026 window? I will have finished my 2year internship by the time the post starts which is probably in August 2027, but will i be eligible to apply as i wont have finished internship by the time of application? Thank you so much! 😊
You need to be GMC registered for MSRA. There is no point in taking the MSRA without GMC registration.

you need to have GMC registration first and the CREST form signed off, then apply through Oriel. Then comes the MSRA.
thank you so much for your video. I would like to ask you: what type of jobs do people usually apply for as a non-training job once Full Registration is provided?
To get into the system I think it is best to apply for any and all possible jobs advertised. Once you are in, then you can change etc etc
Nice
Alot of talk. Its like your telling us to bring in all medical book diagnosis to this 40 year old 😂😂😂😂😂
What seasonings did you use? And at what time did you add them?
Vegetable or chicken cube, salt all at the same time as the rice was added. At the same time other things like soya sauce etc can be added too.
is there any further training after these 2? or just these and thats it?
These are two separate training limbs on the same pathway, after this you do speciality training for 4 years.
I totally agree with you👍
Could you plz help us by making a short video for IMGs who are planning to enter GP training without NHS experience. It would be highly appreciated if you could discuss about things we can learn from our home country before starting GP training without NHS experience. Thank you in advance 😊
Sure.
Hi Anna. Thanks for your video. I wanted to ask - if we accept an offer and ask for an upgrade, given the example you gave - if we get Cornwall or Dorset as the upgrade, do we have the option of just staying with Cardiff in the end? Or when we ask for the upgrade, we are letting go of our initial offer that we accepted?
We are letting go of the initial offer. Upgrade is a risky business it only works well if you have carefully selected all of your ranking placements
Was offered a job but turned it down to go to Australia and try life there....😢
Best advice
Liked before watching because I've been looking for a video like this
I wouldn't immediately give fluids unless I ruled out an obstructive shock/cardiogenic shock, which can be worsened by fluids
This is for F2 level core level, not ST level interview for anesthesia and ICU. An echo to rule out is a reg level situation not for an alone FY far far away and no reg around. They want basic ALS reflexes, no complicated medical thought process but fast and calm interventions.
First time saw this kind of content..Thank you 🙏
Hi Anna, thanks for making such high quality videos! I am working towards an ACCS Anaesthetics post... It is obviously not compulsory but how common/receommended is it for people to complete also MRCP during ACCS training?
You don’t have to do it at all. it is not an exam that is required of Anaesthetic trainees. We take for anaesthetic FRCA exam.
can ACCS AM choose Emergency Medicine later on?
No unfortunately you will have to re apply.
As an IMG who didn't take the plab exams yet should I start building a portfolio , knowing that in my country we do a training year which could be counted as a FY1 in the Uk ?
No need do plab then come to uk then plan your portfolio after you decide what you want to do, working here is different to working wherever you are from. So whatever specialty you like see it first here before you build a portfolio.
Hi Anna , thank you for the effort and the informative videos, my qstn is : As an IMG should I do FY1 and FY2 to be able to aplly for a non-training job ?
Fy1 from home country mandatory, if in UK then you have to complete foundation training to get registered with GMC. The first step either or is GMC registration
