    Well, leading the brigands around your flank so that they got to attack your flank going downhill rather than leading them directly into your lines going uphill was indeed an interesting strategy. It worked against the lightly armored brigands, but I don't think that will work nearly as well against the Baron. I believe the other retinue hit the pathfinding bug. This bug tends to happen when there are too many units on the map. Sometimes one or 2 guys from a unit get lost/stuck and so the rest of the unit, once they realize, will go backwards to group up with the lost man instead of going to where you tell them to. I am sure this is one of the things on Greg's list of bugs to fix. Though I haven't seen it in the patch notes yet. I think he is working on the mechanics more than pathfinding right now.

      There is SORT of trade - will touch on it in one of the upcoming episodes but its VERY light and not that useful TBH. But yea we can exchange surplus resources for others - it comes at a BIG efficiency loss as you need to send out members of the tribe and it makes it even harder to make use of early game.

    Good intro to your channel although you did leave out some of your endeavors. I tried Transport Fever 2 using your map and others but it's missing something. For one, I am wanting to stay in the 1800s not do a modern city builder. But the resource placement just doesn't feel right. I have been playing Banished but with the Colonial Charter mod. It really does make it Banished 2. Not sure if I like it or not because I need more help in understanding all the changes, all the new paths, all the possibilities. Am interested in Manor Lords but I am waiting as I anticipate a lot of updates early on and want it to be a bit more stable if it takes me weeks to play it.

      Thank you so much! I am actually thinking of going back to Banished soon, the games 10 years is coming up and I think you are right. The colonial charter mod does make it feel like the sequel - noted and on the cards! Re transport fever map - agreed not the best placed resources, I am going to add more and I go and will post an updated map with all the resources placed that I end up with. Manor lords is really good but I can tell there is so much to come and lots missing - totally don't blame you for holding back on that one. Thank you for the support! 🙏

    If you have a row of burgage plots with the side house, when you upgrade them to lvl3 you get wall to wall housing that looks realy good.

    Ahh, you got the homeless people bug! You may need to quit and restart to fix that. I believe that happens when a home burns down. If you repair it, the people sometimes refuse to move back into it. That may be why you have homes for everyone, but still have homelessness.

      Such an annoying one - had to dismantle and then rebuild them all! Possibly the most frustrating bug so far but far from game breaking.... I know it will be fixed!

    You should barter food into immenrueth with the pack station until the food situation fixes itself. The lack of food is one of the reasons people are leaving the settlement.

    Retinue need a minimum of 5 men to be rallied. So if you dismiss that unit with only 3 men, you can't re rally them until you recruit more.

    the problems you had rallying your militia is that you cannot rally them in house property, including your fields. Greg has said that this is a bug and in a future patch you will be able to set a rally point in a field.

    From my own experiences, 1 farmhouse with 8 families employed can harvest, plow and plant 3 morgan's worth of fields before winter.

    You will want to build your treasury quickly so that you can fill out your 2 retinue units, make the next fight easier. It takes 2000 prestige to claim an owned territory, so it should take him a little while.

    When you were handing out battle orders to all the units I was thinking, send those retinue after the bandits in the woods as the small numbers of retinue can still wreck the bandits, reduce his total army size and then you can bring them down into the back side of the next unit and wrap his army up one by one, and then you did exactly that! we were simpatico on strategy there!

    The polearm militia do extra damage to armored enemies (or at least don't do less damage), so they are better against retinue than spearmen. They were exactly who you wanted to engage the baron's retinue. having those 2 polearm militia probably saved you as they wouldn't get wrecked by his retinue. since you are out of militia units, I would recommend dismissing the archers, and getting a second unit of spearmen and rely on merc's for archers. Right now, the best use of archers is to kite the enemy into a disadvantageous position, like you did, and then to add numbers to a battle where their numbers count against the moral of the enemy, even if they can't damage them.

      I am actually impressed with the polearms hey - I think I might get one more spear militia though (loose one polearm) as they are much better at holding the line IMO. Use the remaining polearms and retinue to charge - hammer and anvil style.

      @@The_Beard at this point, I would disband the archers in favor of another spearmen militia. Keep the polearm you have. Once the patch gets rolled out, then the archers will be useful again.

    unfortunately, archers do almost no damage on the release build. once the patch is rolled out, archers will work again. However, they do aid when they are attacking from behind as that affects the moral of enemy units. You won with excellent tactics; Bravo on that!

    Don't forget to click on the "resolve on the battlefield" button. Otherwise he will just get to keep it. Once you click on the button to resolve on the battlefield, you will get a big circle designation somewhere on the map, and that is where the battle needs to take place. So if you raise your army, but do not go into the circle, then you will also lose.

      My thinking was to hold back until I have my army close - was absolutely paranoid they would just burn down the town if I started the battle too soon. Good to know you only have actually go into the circle once for it to count - It seems once you have done that the battle can conclude anywhere.

    The wheat has to be thrashed into grain before it can go to the windmill, but if the granary accepts wheat, then the wheat gets pulled form the farmhouse to the granary, then the farmhouse has to get the wheat back so they can thrash it into grain. Disabling wheat from the granary saves 2 hauling trips by the granary and the farmers. Also check the granary in the town near the market, you don't want wheat and grain getting hauled all the way down there either. The granary near the market should only be flour, so it is a short trip to the communal ovens.

      @@The_Beard yes. Dedicated granaries and storehouse work really well. Like a dedicated store house for clay near the clay pit. And for iron ore and iron slabs for thw iron mine. Mining is very fast so you can overcrowd your main storehouse for thw market place for things thst do not sell in the market place otherwise. I think a dedicated granary/storehouse for flax would be a good idea too. Put it near the weavers hut so thst they can quickly be supplied with flax to be processed into linen.

    Yes, the retinues count against your base militia total, but you are not limited in how many retinue units you can have. So you can have 1 retinue for every manor you can build in addition to however many militia you end up building. You also goofed in making an archer militia. in the release version archers really don't do any damage at all. the patch will fix that but until then, the archer unit is a waste. Hopefully it gets fixed so that militia and retinue get separated so you can always have 6 militia no matter what order you build your manor houses.

      @@The_Beard Greg just announced patch 0.7965 with will make sure that retinue don't count against your total militia, so you will always be able to create 6 militia. Also, in the future, you will get an official rank, and this rank will determine how many militia you can recruit. Back in the day, there was a lot of discussion about what rank uou are. The concensus was that you would start out at the rank of "Ritter." (Knight) and wouldn't be able to reach the rank of Baron until you controlled all (or vast majority) of the map.

    The Wall Bug! The castle planner seems to struggle a bit with redesigns. Unfortunately once something is constructed, you can't do any redesigns with out tearing the entire thing, manor house and all, down.

    That "bush" next to the manor it won't let you delete is a felled tree. You will need the loggers to debranch and haul it away.

    Ostriv is how I found your channel, but I stayed for Foundation, Airborne kingdom, and Anno 1800. Whilst I would like to see them again, I am thoroughly enjoying the new content.     It would be a good idea to create a storage building that stores exclusively the clay and clay tiles, so that they don't all get dragged to the village, and because you will make a lot of them and you don't want them to choke all the space away from the things you need to store close to your market.

    Instead of making the polearms in Immenrueth, since you are already making them in your other region, you could just import them using inter-regional trade. Then you can specialize the regions better. Make something in Immenrueth that you are not making in the other region and trade them back and forth.

    It is stone on the image too, but it colored the stone red to indicate you didn't have enough. It is a bit confusing because you expect it to be grey. iron is also grey, the iron ore is orangish color, but that is distinctive too, and of course nothing uses iron ore as a construction resource.

      @The_Beard I have been confused by that, too. And I saw at least one other streamer get confused. Unless I am mistaken, stone is the only icon that turns red when you don't have enough of it. For everything else, I think only the quantity turns red.

    With the 3 farm houses now each covering their own farm plots, it would be a good idea to manually assign the families that work each farmhouse. Because you might find people working at farm houses half way across the region, reducing how much time they have to spend working since they spend to much time walking to work from home and back.

    That slope is a good area for the sheep pastures, but a bad place to build burgage plots.. I know I wouldn't want to risk sliding/falling down that slop from my house every day!

      Yea I was actually watching a documentary last night that pointed out that they would stay the hell away from building on slopes just because of the extra digging it requires. I might have to try a 'realistic" playthrough at some point, not sure it will better One Proud Bavarians series though, that man is killing it.

      @The_Beard yes he is. And when you realise their shovels were made of wood and not iron, it makes a ton of sense that they would not want to do any leveling they didn't have to. It is hard enough to dig into the ground with an iron shovel. I can't imagine how hard that was with a shovel made of wood! The other issue, too, is the foundations on a slope. The game does a really good job of extending the foundations down to the ground for buildings built on slopes, but again, it is hard work hauling large rocks for the foundation. Another labor-intensive task you would not want to do any more of than you'd have to.
