Drew Manning - Intentionally Gaining 60+ Pounds
Have you ever dealt with sugar addiction? Have you ever had to clean up your diet in an attempt to lose some unwanted weight? Have you ever intentionally gained over 60 pounds? Fitness Trainer Drew Manning joins me and discusses two experiences where he stopped working out, and switched from a Paleo/Keto diet to a Standard American Diet. He did this in an attempt to gain as much weight as possible within a shortened timeframe. Why? To develop more empathy for those that he worked with.

From Broken To Breaking: The Colorado Trail FKT
zhlédnutí 236KPřed 3 lety
From a nonathletic adolescence, bed-ridden injury, job loss, and being forced to drop out of college, Mike McKnight didn't enter the running world in your typical way. Regardless, he would go on to break records for the 500-mile Colorado Trail. Even after a stolen Salomon shoe incident, and only 5 hours of sleep during the week-long journey. Pre-race Carb Reset
zhlédnutí 1,2KPřed 3 lety
Typically during high training blocks I'll get 120 to 150 grams of carbs a day. But a few days before a race/project I'll go strict with my carbs to get into a consistent block of ketosis before the effort.
Kind Bar Review
zhlédnutí 641Před 3 lety
I recently went on a 28 mile run in the mountains which took 6 hours. Kept calorie intake to 500 calories with some of those calories being Kind.
So motivating to see what you are able to push your body to do, one day a 100 mile ultra is on the list but can’t imagine ever thinking now I’ll try 500 😂
Whats FKT?
Fastest Known Time
Damn ! What an great adventure ❤ thanks for documenting this
Great job, Mike! I want Ben as my coach.
Awesome!
When I’m painting I find these positive videos, this Documentary I watched over half way through I walked my dog came back started it all over again and did no painting very well done nothing like discipline in motion,I hiked the CT in 2020 did over 20 miles a day it blew by so fast it left me with the urge to hike it again but slower.
Thanks I enjoyed making this film.
Super inspiring video. Made me emotional.
Amazing. Could not stop watching. So inspirational.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the film.
No Lie, when his wife said she was going to run the last leg with him my eyes filled with tears. Grown ass man tears. <3
Very inspirational just wow congratulations!
Just watched it. Thanks for sharing it. It was awesome!
I've seen your doc maybe 4 times. Great work!
Thanks! It was a great experience making this.
Hats off to you big Mike! I hope you continue to create a life for your family & yourself from what you love, whatever it may be.
WOW! What an amazing accomplishment! I did the Colorado Trail Race mountainbike "race" in 2009. This trail is NO JOKE! It took me 11+ DAYS! Brutal! Congratulations!
Just watched this again. What strikes me is how humble you are. You deserve all the success you can get ❤
Fabulous FKT
Remarkable.. the all around strength to accomplish this run is unimaginable to most. You had a fantastic crew and support. I have only run a 10k almost 4 years ago and have struggled with constant excercises... so I signed up for a marathon in October. Did a 4 mil little harsh off trail.. took forever lol.. April 29th I have a 10k. Still not really sure why I'm doing it.. but i think it's because I'm tired... just tired.
Nice job dude! "Learn to be comfortable, being uncomfortable" Running The Edge 2014
Humans can do incredible stuff.
Hi, what an inspiration! Could you please tell me what waist light you are using please. Many thanks.
Kogalla!
Maybe I'm a bit late, but congrats for rocking that crazy challenge.
I am not a runner. I do strength training and long distance walking. I did a 100 mile walk in 47 hrs in september. Next goal will be 150 miles in 72 hrs spring 2024. Thanks for motivating me .
This impressive young man is, young. His youth is a key ingredient to his success so far But the diet that he is promoting has been shown to promote heart disease in the long run. The research is definitive. I’m sorry to say that his promotion of a low carb diet, especially animal foods, will lead many followers to having heart disease on down the road Not to mention the dire consequences of animal farming on the planet and the inhumane aspect of animal farming in general I am impressed with his accomplishments, but I am disappointed in his overall ignorance of future repercussions of his actions
Haha, OK.
What an absolute legend!
im cryinggg. This was much needed
Sick!
Hi guys, what an achivement! Realy enjoyed the video! Im vondering what type of chestlamp is used? Looks like a solid lamp!
Kogalla.
@@ThePsychicSasquatch any pros and cons?
Let's be honest: the mania for distance challenges has been taken way beyond the point of healthy exercise--now it's just vanity and ego. Force yourself to run as far as you can without actually dying. Dumb.
Haha, your opinion is definitely making me rethink my life.
Mike Mcknight is unreal! You hear so much about David Goggins and Cameron Haines how they've run a few 100 and 200 mile races, and don't get me wrong that's way more than I'll ever do. It's pretty unreal, but when you look at Mike's accomplishments DG and CH pale in comparison. Not only has Mike run all those long races multiple times he holds the records by a long shot on ALL of them. He is just getting started too. It's unfathomable what he is accomplishing and what he is able to get his body to do. I just hope he gets the recognition and notoriety he deserves. He is a beast!
Thanks Stoney 🙏
The greatest thing about this video is you named tour son Killian! -Great job Michael!
Really excellent video. Congrats!
I know life gets in the way, but please keep making videos and podcasts Mike! You're doing something amazing for running. Like Zack Bitter did, but your experience in the mountains makes you uniquely valuable to this niche, especially with the fasted stuff. This methodology of low carb running is still in it's infancy but with people like you it will garner the research and attention it needs
That was incredible! Good work Mike and crew!
Inspiring stuff 👍🍷
Incredible doesn't begin to describe the accomplishment. What an effort. Congratulations Mike.
Got me signed up for a 250mi. Great work in Cocodona last week. Keep running strong brother 💪🏼
I'm not even sure why I love to watch Ultra Runners and those who surpass ultra running, but your story resonated with me. I can barely run a half of a mile at this point, but I I'm doing more than I did two months ago, which was lay in the bed and do nothing. I now live a low-carb high-fat lifestyle and have lost 35 lb so far. My goal is to run a 5k this year. I've had bilateral knee replacements and just getting out there after those surgeries from a few years ago is a little scary but I know it is doable. Thank you for sharing your story on CZcams.
Great doco! I've just started trying my hand (or legs) at trail running, and not being a runner AT ALL and quite overweight, this is very inspiring. I'm aiming for my first 50km ultra for my 40th birthday in 2024.. considering I've only just achieved running 1km non stop, I've got a ways to go! haha.
I just got done watching this and man that was awesome!
This is sooo inspiring to me. That you Michael.
Do u wear gloves or arm sleeves
Love the way this was shot! Great Job!
Thanks
Fun and inspiring to watch, congrats on your huge achievement!! 💪
Love this film.. all the inspiring experiences of a mammoth achievement.. you’re support crew where above amazing.. the dedication they gave was humbling.. brilliant..👏👏👏👏
Insane record and inspiring people!
This guy is a dude. Personal experience. Anything he says is correct or by accident. He is a good distance athlete and very helpful to himself.
